Atomic Kitten reunion confirmed by Natasha Hamilton

Atomic Kitten are reuniting, Natasha Hamilton has confirmed.

The singer will be joined by Jenny Frost and Liz McClarnon for a series of summer gigs, possibly including the Queen's Jubilee concert in June.

Rumours surfaced last month that the band, known for hits such as 'Whole Again' and 'Eternal Flame', were reforming when it was reported that they were in talks to star in a television show.

"We're really excited about getting back together and singing again. We've all been doing our own thing but we thought the time was right to reform. I think it will be fun to go on tour to perform for a whole new generation of fans," Hamilton told the Daily Star Sunday.

"A lot of our fans will have kids now so it would be great if they can both come along to watch us and enjoy our music. We'd love to be able to perform for the Queen's Jubilee celebrations. We're open to all options at the moment."

Hamilton also hinted that Kerry Katona, who formed part of the band's original lineup before quitting in 2000, could be part of the reunion plans.

"I ran into Kerry recently and we just hugged and got on really well. We both have kids around the same age so we talked a lot about them. It was lovely to see her. It would be great if we could all get on stage and sing together," she said.

Katona recently rehired Martin O'Shea, her agent from the Atomic Kitten days, after dumping Max Clifford.

Atomic Kitten were rumoured to be reforming for the Eurovision Song Contest, but they later denied the claims, and Engelbert Humperdinck was chosen to represent the UK.

Although please, not with Kerry Katona...

I would interested if Kerry came back. Hot mess media whore as she is, I actually love her

The Queen's Jubilee concert? That would be major considering they've more of less been out of the limelight for 7 years (save for a flop Cilla Black cover in 2008 )

Anyway, it sounds like they think that there's more interest in them than there probably will be, I can't see them selling out arenas at this moment in time. I'd be first in line though, I never saw them first time around!

I would find it HILARIOUS if Kerry rejoined with the band... I doubt they'll be a success with or without her anyway - unless it's just like Steps's reunion with a GH and tour.

The OCC have just posted their top ten best-selling singles:

01 WHOLE AGAIN - 980,423

02 THE TIDE IS HIGH (GET THE FEELING) - 408,823

03 ETERNAL FLAME - 395,782

04 IT'S OK - 229,637

05 LAST GOODBYE/BE WITH YOU - 156,347

06 RIGHT NOW - 103,392

07 LADIES NIGHT - 101,374

08 IF YOU COME TO ME - 82,919

09 SEE YA - 82,068

10 I WANT YOUR LOVE - 73,548

I'm surprised that 'Whole Again' is so close to a million; it will probably pass it this year if a reformation is successful.

So the only five that aren't in it, are number 77 smash Anyone Who Had a Heart. Of their proper singles; Follow Me, Love Doesn't Have To Hurt, Someone Like Me/Right Now 2004 and Cradle 2005 are missing.

With their chart runs, if they had been released in recent years some of these sales would be so much higher.

Are people forgetting that they made a "comeback" a few years ago with the $ma$h hit Anyone Who Had A Heart (UK #77).

No one has been gagging for an Atomic Kitten return, but if Kerry joins in at least they'll get some coverage.

I have. :kink:

I liked Anyone Who Had A Heart at the time, actually. Shame it flopped. :(

I stand corrected

But really, I don't see where they fit in today - Steps had that cheesy pop angle that's been missing in music, Sugababes 1.0 has the whole "WE'RE CREDIBLE POP MUSIC!" angle and Take That had a bunch of middle-aged wet vaginas.

What does Atomic Kitten have? They were the Plain Janes of Pop.

I think the definitive line-up is Liz, Natasha and Jenny, apart from a few Top 20 hits, they didn't really hit big until Kerry left.
