February 5, 201214 yr Why does MW never bother to put the actual weeks in the chart for Abba's Gold? 7 weeks? REALLY???? It's so lazy!
February 5, 201214 yr Does anyone know which was the last album to have 6 singles eligible for Silver?
February 6, 201214 yr Very happy for Rebecca going back up the top 30 with the album and re-entering the top 75 with the single ! :cheer:
February 6, 201214 yr Congratulations to Lana Del Ray on a great success, on the flip side of my happiness i was disapointed to see Take That drop out of the top 100 this week. I falsely built my hopes on its 19 place rise last week and fully expected the album to remain in the chart.
February 6, 201214 yr Why is Kiss The Stars having such a bizarre up-and-down chart run? 14-8-19-11... is there any specific reason or is this just a random chart run?
February 6, 201214 yr Bre, in an earlier Post, you said:, "ABBA's Gold - Greatest Hits has reached 500 chart weeks". That is what Chart Stats say - and Wikipedia copies from them. However, it is wrong. 'Gold's' No.73 Position, this Week, is actually its 644th Top 100 Week. Chart Stats misses out 144 of its Top 100 Weeks. Over 2.5 Years - missing. (Chart Stats gives 'Greatest Hits', by Queen, (1981), 496 Top 100 Weeks. It should be 635 Weeks. So that is given 139 Weeks less than it should have. Again - over 2.5 Years missing). Here are 'Gold's real UK Chart Stats:, Total Number Of Weeks: Top 10: 58, Top 20: 100, Top 40: 215, Top 75: 449, Top 100: 644, Number 1: 8 Weeks Its 449 Top 75 Weeks are an all time Chart Record. As are its 644 Top 100 Weeks. Edited February 6, 201214 yr by zeus555

As are its 644 Top 100 Weeks. Are some of its top 100 weeks from when the album chart became an "official" top 100 for a while? It's just I thought Fleetwood MAC's rumours had the all time official chart record with nearly 500 chart weeks (with all being official the vast majority with the chart as a top 75)
February 6, 201214 yr Spicefunk - 'Gold' did not even exist when the entire Top 100 Albums were counted, for Chart Books etc. The Top 100 was used from 8th August 1981 to 14th January 1989. 'Gold' was not released until September 1992. All of 'Gold's 449 Chart Weeks are in the Top 75. No other Album has spent as long in that part of the Chart. 'Rumours', by Fleetwood Mac, is on 483 Chart Weeks, but 'only' 371 Weeks were in the Top 75. 'Greatest Hits', (One), by Queen, is on 476 Chart Weeks, but 'only' 414 Weeks were in the Top 75. 'Bat Out Of Hell', by Meat Loaf, is on 474 Chart Weeks, but 'only' 440 Weeks were in the Top 75. The Meat Loaf Album is 2nd only to 'Gold' in Top 75 weeks. Edited February 6, 201214 yr by zeus555

Thank you Zeus, this is always an area of confusion I find. So technically Rumours holds the "official" record however whichever way you cut it Gold has more absolute weeks (top75 or top100) ;)
February 6, 201214 yr Author All of 'Gold's 449 Chart Weeks are in the Top 75. I can only assume then that the 51-week difference is weeks it's been between 76 and 100 since the OCC started posting the top 100 on its website. It's had 38 weeks between 76 and 100 in 2009-2012, then I assume the other 13 were mid-2007 to 2008. EDIT: Looked on Chartstats and it has 14 weeks between 76 and 100 in 2007-8, so I must have miscounted the total since 2009 (or you've got the wrong number but you're usually more acccurate than me so I'll assume it's my mistake :P) Edited February 6, 201214 yr by Bré
February 6, 201214 yr Thanks, zeus555! I'm very happy that my bookkeeping is correct (449 weeks in top 75). Sometimes it's so difficult to keep it up. Could you please confirm the weeks in top 75 for GH by Simon and Garfunkel as well?
February 6, 201214 yr Spicefunk - Yes, because the entire Top 100 is counted from August 1981 to January 1989, the Albums with the 'Most Chart Weeks' are:, 1) Rumours - Fleetwood Mac (1977) = 483 Weeks (371 in the Top 75) 2) Greatest Hits (One) - Queen (1981) = 476 Weeks (414 in the Top 75) 3) Bat Out Of Hell - Meat Loaf (1978) = 474 Weeks (440 in the Top 75) 4) Gold - ABBA (1992) = 449 Weeks (449 in the Top 75) With the ABBA Album, (644 Weeks), & Queen Album, (639 Weeks), having the most Weeks in the Top 100, over all. 'Legend', by Bob Marley & The Wailers, is 3rd - 583 Top 100 Weeks. (396 Chart Weeks, in the All Time List - 366 Top 75 Weeks + 30 Top 100 Weeks). 'Rumours' is 4th - 513 Top 100 Weeks. 'Bat Out Of Hell' is 5th - 506 Top 100 Weeks. SKOB - 'Greatest Hits', by Simon & Garfunkel, is currently on its 288th Top 75 Week. It has 296 Weeks overall, as it gets 8 Top 100 Weeks from the August 1981 to January 1989 period. Over all, it has spent 303 Weeks in the Top 100. Edited February 6, 201214 yr by zeus555
February 6, 201214 yr Author Actually, looking at Chartstats, they have seven weeks in 2001 where ABBA were between #76 and #100  Where are the other eight top 75 weeks that you have coming from then? I can only get 441. Oh, Chartstats' album chart data seems to be incomplete for some weeks in 2001 (plus a few in 2000). That's probably where the problem is. Edited February 6, 201214 yr by Bré
February 6, 201214 yr Bre, of the 144 'Gold' Top 100 Positions, missing from Chart Stats, 14 are from the Top 75, & 130 are from Positions from No.76 to No.100. I have checked my Data over & over again, so I know I'm right.
February 6, 201214 yr SKOB - 'Greatest Hits', by Simon & Garfunkel, is currently on its 288th Top 75 Week. It has 296 Weeks overall, as it gets 8 Top 100 Weeks from the August 1981 to January 1989 period. Over all, it has spent 303 Weeks in the Top 100. Thanks! I had 287, almost there
February 6, 201214 yr Btw isn't David Guetta the most successful artist on singles chart not to sing on his records? I think he's also the most successful dance act of all time. Edited February 6, 201214 yr by SKOB
February 6, 201214 yr Will we ever see a post-90s album racking up hundreds of weeks on the chart such as these classics?
February 6, 201214 yr Author Will we ever see a post-90s album racking up hundreds of weeks on the chart such as these classics? The likes of 'Lungs', 'Crazy Love', 'The Fame', 'Sigh No More' and '19' are well on their way (the former four are yet to leave the official top 100 yet, Crazy Love and The Fame even have unbroken top 75 runs since release). I'm sure '21' is going to be around for pretty much the rest of eternity also.
February 6, 201214 yr Author (I default to the album crediting if there's any difference between the album crediting and the single crediting - see also how I haven't changed the title of Kelly Clarkson's track in the top 10) I know we've stopped talking about this, but just to clarify, the exception to this is if an artist is added specifically for the single release (I also change the title if the title changes in addition to the added artist, for example 'Gettin' Over' by David Guetta feat. Chris Willis was changed to 'Gettin' Over You' by David Guetta and Chris Willis feat. Fergie and LMFAO for the single release). In the case of Luniz, the album version and single version both have the Michael Marshall vocals, he's just not credited on the single release for some reason.
