Finally realised what I though Gotye's Instrumental sounds like - the Goron caves. Miyamoto should instigate a lawsuit.

Clocks by Coldplay also sounds like a song from the Zelda series I noticed.

The Zelda series has some of the greatest instrumentals ever so im not surprised so many emulate them. Nintendo in general are brilliant with music

I agree. Zelda has a lot of great music, but probably my favourite is the Molgera Battle Theme from Windwaker.

Nintendo has such incredible music in their games. Other recent songs that sound like Nintendo songs to me are Right There which sounds like a song from the Donkey Kong series (one of the most popular Nintendo songs actually) and some of the sounds in the chorus of Turn Me On sound like a song from the Star Fox series.

Quite a few songs have 8-bit/chiptune sounding synths in them aswell, for example Earthquake (and many other Labrinth produced songs), Tik Tok, Ayo Technology, Bounce and Fireflies. And a lot of UK rappers now do 8-bit or 16-bit remixes of their songs.

Timbaland has got into many plagiarism controversies over the years involving video game music (much to the dismay of Nelly Furtado and 50 Cent :drama:).

Freak Like Me by the Sugababes also uses an 8-bit sample from a video game.

Yes, #392! :D

Oh, not TOO far from the top 300 - good, at least it's made some very minor impact :D

 Windwaker!! What a coincidence, Ive been learning the entire soundtrack on piano recently. Incredible!!!

Ive almost finished Skyward Sword, then im going back to play through WW again

Wow. Seriously?! :D That's awesome. I play the piano aswell, but I can't play any songs from computer games. :( I'm only good at sight-reading, and I only played classical music when I was learning the piano as a kid.

The only Zelda games I actually own are Orcarina of Time (on the Nintendo 64) and Windwaker on the Gamecube. Orcarina of Time is a fantastic game. I realized the other day that I've been playing that game for 13 years now!!! I still remember the day I got the game for the first time aswell. I cannot believe how "old" it is now (and I thought the game was old when I first got it, since it had already been out for like 2 years by then ).

I have a MIDI keyboard though, and I've got FL Studio, and there's a website called vgmusic.com which has MIDI files of a lot of computer game music on there. So putting two and two together, guess what I do with Nintendo songs?!

That's actually how I noticed the similarity between Clocks and the dungeon theme from Zelda II for the NES. The piano arpeggio in Clocks was done by someone who writes the music for Nintendo before Coldplay did it. Although I'm sure it was done even before that aswell, I mean, it is just broken chords.

Like 'T.H.E.', I reckon 'Ass Back Home' would've done better had it been released a couple of weeks back. The video has been on the music channel for a good month, just like 'T.H.E.' has. It wouldn't surprise me if there are people who liked this who won't bother buying it now because they're either bored of hearing it already, bought the Cheap-O-Nasty karaoke cover on iTunes or downloaded it illegally.

Yeah your right, and the album was meant to be given an early (download) release on the 30th January according to one of the release lists which would have been good. In fact i think if artists were forward thinking they would release their new albums to download a month before the cd was in the shops, this could be the future - bit like Skrillex did this year!

BTW what is the song on the current Citreon ad, anyone know?

Anyone else notice if Coldplay Christmas lights  went into the top 1000 on itunes this evening - believe it or not but it was used on Countryfile!!
Is there a particular reason why Price Tag is back in the top 100?

I think that's the track she will be performing on the BRITs.

If it's charting so high off hype for her BRITs performance, it'll probably get back in the top 40 then! :o

One Direction this week ended up at #16 on Digital Downloads in Official Chart, shows you how strong their physicals must have been!
Yeah they have the biggest cd sales out of any of the big pop acts. If the no 16 did 23k on downloads their physicals must have been around 4-7k to jump them into the top 10!!

Wow. That's amazing! :o

Possible entries into the top 40 next week could be: Jason Derulo, Nadia Ali, Cher Lloyd (release week), Wilson Phillips (TV promo), LMFAO (TV promo), Adele (TV promo) and David Guetta (TV promo)?
