February 21, 201213 yr I just downloaded and listened to it there. It actually pretty good to be fair
February 21, 201213 yr Both songs are pretty good and they sound good together, as I always thought they would. I agree the lyrics in Birthday Cake are a bit close to the bone considering their history though.
February 21, 201213 yr Reading her tweets... She really needs to get over herself. How very off putting. Edited February 21, 201213 yr by Tyler
February 21, 201213 yr I have to admit they're both very good but I still have 0 respect for her, and I still would even if they were the two best songs best songs ever recorded...
February 21, 201213 yr Well she's lost all my respect now. She's clearly finally been completely smothered by the need to make money using sex and hideous ex-boyfriends who beat you to a pulp. It's disgusting. Even if she is over it personally, what sort of message does it give to people who actually have to deal with domestic violence and such? 'It's all good. He made my face look like I'd been smashed into the pavement a few dozen times but we'll just tra la la and sing a grotty song and be BFFs' P.S the song's naff. February 21, 201213 yr I do hope this causes some kind of uproar against Rihanna because it really is one of the most monumentally retarded decisions I've come across (in the music world) in the last few years. It sets a terrible example given what he has done to her and really should never have even been considered, let alone acted upon. Even if the song(s) were decent I would still feel the same, but as they aren't the whole thing just seems utterly pointless and therefore all the more of a slap in the face to the people who supported her after he assaulted her.
February 21, 201213 yr Chris Brown wants to lick Rihanna's birthday cake icing. How very innocent! :D
February 21, 201213 yr The songs themselves are really good... but the lyrics are a bit awkward. I'm not gonna sit here holier-than-thou about this situation. It's happened, it's a bit sad she's done it, but overall she's forgiven him. It was YEARS ago and it's time to move on. They should have sung a song of a different nature though. It's really awkward to listen to.
February 21, 201213 yr I will agree with you all in that my respect for her as a person has gone through the floor in light of all this, it semds out a really bad message to domestic abuse victims all in the name of some extra publicity. :manson: She really needs to address this issue immediately and tell us what the hell she's playing at.
February 21, 201213 yr Disappointed Riri. Fine, if she wants to go back to the guy who beat her up, that's her decision but to put him on her song... it's awkward to listen to, I don't like it.
February 21, 201213 yr Oh my godddddd. 'give it to her in the worst way' 'remember how you did it' are they FOR real? This is almost condoning what he did. Rihanna is an absolute idiot.
February 21, 201213 yr See I don't think she has done this for publicity. I just think it is her way of telling the way she has forgiven him. Life's too short. He's served his punishment, and still (probably rightly so) gets a lot of stick from the media. It's obvious the two still have a thing. Despite everyone knowing what went on that night, only two people know the truth, and if she has forgiven him, then she's made her peace. Also, I see some ppl in this thread refer to Rihanna as a role model? Really?? Have you seen her tweets and the emssages in her songs? Hardly on the level of being a role model. Taylor Swift maybe, Rihann, no chance.
February 21, 201213 yr I think it was clearly done for promotion. A simple 'ohai chris i forgive you' would have sufficed. Hasn't she said on numerous occassions that she doesn't hate him for what he did? So why she felt the need to record this song with him, and then to use the whole 'mystery collab' as promotion is nothin' short of disgusting imo.

And I think it was the producers who teasted the collab, not Rihanna. Actions speak louder than words.
February 21, 201213 yr "It's completely normal to go back. It's not right. I learned the hard way, but again, this is what I want people to know. When I realized that my selfish decision for love could result in some young girl getting killed, I could not be easy with that part. I couldn't be held responsible for going back. Even if Chris never hit me again, who is to say that their boyfriend won't? Who's to say that they won't kill these girls? These are young girls and I just didn't realize how much of an impact I had on these girls' lives until that happened." Just finished listening to the remix, not worth the backlash. *listens to 1:18 version and pretends this never happened*
