February 19, 201213 yr My so called 'vitriolic hatred' is reserved for songs that are ABYSMAL, regardless or what genre or style they are. And it just so happened that everything that wasn't big gay dance pop or basic bitch balladry last year was abysmal? :D
February 19, 201213 yr Looking back at Sabrina's performance, it is a shame Dança comigo didn't reach the final. I was surprised it managed to come 11th in the semi final though, same with Andorra coming 12th - I didn't think either would have any hope of making the final at the time! If only the "two semi finals" format had been introduced that year, they'd have probably made it alongside Iceland and Poland, who again were very unlucky to miss out!
February 19, 201213 yr I remember the shock that Portugal had nearly qualified actually - they seemed almost a lost cause at the time! Nowadays they tend to make it with whatever they send so long as it isn't hideous... The ten qualifiers this year were by and large deserved but I think it was the straw that broke the camel's back when it came to autoqualifiers. Romania, Ireland and Lithuania (:() at least shouldn't have been in there, and split into two semis I think Portugal through Cyprus would've made it into the final.
February 19, 201213 yr And it just so happened that everything that wasn't big gay dance pop or basic bitch balladry last year was abysmal? :D The following are the absolute abominations of ESC11: Norway, Armenia, Turkey, Georgia, Finland, Malta, Iceland, Portugal, Greece, Belgium, Moldova, Cyprus, Macedonia and Ireland. If that proves your theory, so be it.

The Portugese entries from 2007-2009 were faultless though  . Cyprus not qualifying was another big injustice, I guess it just got lost in the mix going on so early. Statistically, Sweden shouldn't have been in the final either, but I suspect they would have just about made it out of the semis anyway.
February 19, 201213 yr - Portugal and Norway having the same idea for an entry, Portugal got away with it due to it being a nice warm, sunny country. Norway? Inauthentic, one of my least favourite entries of theirs. I remember there being some discussion about this  But I agree with you, even if I do like that song - it feels a bit inauthentic coming from us. If I remember correctly, we didn't have that many great choices that year, apart from Infinity with a fabulous eurodance track, wich I loved at the time and hoped could win it! *goes to purchase from iTunes to have some listens* Oh and 'Rocket ride', coming second from Siste sjansen  But NO, the people voted for Guri Schanke :nocheer: Which seemed a bit random for me.. February 19, 201213 yr Author It was incredibly hard to vote. I had 11 tracks that just literally REQUIRE points, nevermind all the songs that I would love to also give points to. :(
February 19, 201213 yr I've been watching ESC since 2006, and 2007 was absolutely amazing, the best one I would say, I quite remember majority of the songs! Magdi Rúzsa  Oh, and first of the three fabulous Czech entries
February 19, 201213 yr I've voted! :D This was the year I struggled the most with; cutting down from 27 countries to just 10 countries.. is CRUEL! :(
February 20, 201213 yr I actually think this was one of the worst years for Eurovision, not many standout songs, and I had trouble coming up with a top10...
February 20, 201213 yr 2007 is legendary for me because of two GODDESSES: Opera Goddess Alenka (Slovenia) and Rock Goddess Natalia (Moldova) (What a shame Alenka didn't do the "flower-on-the bosom" like in the video) Then there was the Demi-Goddess Sopho from Georgia, which faltered a little vocally but what an amazing song! And there was also Goddess Karolina, with a good song but not as amazing as her 2002 entry. Also fondly remembered to me are Spain, Belarus, Andorra, Netherlands, Finland, Serbia, Denmark, Estonia, Cyprus and Bulgaria. The vilest were Czech Republic, Sweden, Latvia, Montenegro, Romania, Albania and Belgium. Greece and Turkey overrated as usual, and even Russia was slightly too hyped for me. I so want to hate Ukraine but I can't.
February 20, 201213 yr Denmark, Poland, Malta, Switzerland and The Netherlands all deserved to qualify! Best part about Scooch was when Russ & Caroline where on Coach Trip! AWFUL!
February 20, 201213 yr Author 11 votes in. 8 songs received one 12 each + one song that managed to score THREE of them already (the latter is not even #1 at the moment!) :o Therefore the middle of the scoreboard is very close. You can shoot from #16 to #7 with one twelve and nothing for the songs you're hoping to jump over.
February 20, 201213 yr decided to vote early this time, so Pavel won't go  at me via PM. fab year! it was all about the Balkan though *_*
February 20, 201213 yr I promise I will vote in this  I've been working early shift whole last week, so I've been really tired :( but this week I have two late shifts so will probably vote tomorrow ^_^
February 20, 201213 yr This was the YEAR I was head over heels about Eurovision! I used to spend HOURS in an Internet cafe reading about the competition and browsing through forums! Russia sent my favourite song EVER* in 2007. Such an attitude! Vocals, beat, lyrics! It was just PERFECTION. And I remember when Sabrina won the Portuguese NF. Everyone was shocked! How could we dare take such a piece of s#itty Portuguese schlager to showcase in front of the whole of Europe? Fortunately the song got somewhat revamped and it eased on our ears (and I now love it). We were shocked AGAIN when Norway dared to choose a copycat version of our song, and all hope was lost. It's Norway, everyone will vote for Norway, it sounds so polished and better than us, their performance is quite complex too! OH NO THE OLD WITCH HAS A COSTUME CHANGE!!! OH NO THEY'RE PERFORMING RIGHT NEXT TO US! And then none qualifed and the following weekend we hear we came 11th, only 3 points away from qualification! WHAT THE ACTUAL F*UCK?!!?! :o Shame we've decided to award 12 points to Moldova! DAMN THOSE IMMIGRANTS VOTING FOR THEIR OWN COUNTRY!!! Fabulous staging, and Mikko and Jaana are still my favourite hosts ever! Such good memories! (and I must agree with Pavel and say that Mala Dama is not that bad. It's just a different style and that's why we don't like it. Acquired taste, is it the expression? :kink:) Votes to follow! *I still can't decided between this and Satellite though.
February 21, 201213 yr Pretty sure our 12pts was towards Ukraine not Moldova. Ukraine got our 12, Romania our 10. Moldova got our 12 in 2009 I think.
