I'm wondering if some of you would be able to help me with a bit of research that I'm doing.

I'm trying to find as many artists as I can from Northern Ireland that have had top 40 hits. I've got a lot of the big hitters (such as Snow Patrol, Ash, Divine Comedy, Van Morrison, Them, Undertones, Stiff Little Fingers, Therapy?), but I know that there's a lot more that I've forgotten. If any of you can offer any suggestions, I would be eternally grateful.

(I know it's such a vague thing to ask, but all will become clear in the near future)

FINALLY the recognition it deserves! :kink:

Undertones

Also Feargal Sharkey had a solo #1 with "A Good Heart"

Joy Rider had a T40 hit with Rush Hour in about July 1996, I think it made about #22! One of the guys in the band used to be married to a friend of mine in Portadown!

Did Maniac 2000 ever get top 40 in Britain??

Apparently there were licencing issues with the track, so it was never officially released outside of ROI. Mark McCabe's not from NI though.

Didnt realise you were putting borders up here Brett, but yeah he is from the republic. I think it could have been a massive hit in Britain though - cheesy dance, was it no1 for ages in the Irish charts - cracking cheesy dance tune for a night out lol!!

And he was half of The Assembly with Vince Clarke. They had a hit with Never Never.

Well, the name of the thread is 'Northern Irish artists that have had top 40 hits?'

An interesting one is the band 'Relish' from Northern Ireland had a big hit in ROI with 'Rainbow Zephyr', it was then covered by Westlife who changed the name to 'Hey Whatever' and got to no.4 in the UK. The original is much better though, you should check it out.

Didnt realise that was the original of Hey Whatever, always thought it was the only original Westlife top 10 hit.Was only joking above by the way but forgot to use smillies, Sorry!!
