GODDAMN I forgot how exciting this time of year is!!! New Normal could be good fun although I really hate one of the leads (Andrew Rannells). He was on Girls last week and just the sight of his shiny face makes me kind of angry. Billy Burke is a great actor so I'll probably give Revolution a go although the logline is shit.

I have high hopes for Revolution. Kripke did a fantastic job on Supernatural before stepping down and letting it become a dragged out mess. Really wish there wasn't an Abrams connection though but bleh.

I will try Save Me and The New Normal, but I have a feeling the latter is going to kick up a stir with those Parent's Council cretins.

I hope the networks release trailers of all their new shows like last year. I am intrigued by certain pilots already, but last year was convinced into checking them out in the fall due to the trailers (New Girl for instance, which I now watch every week :D).

Andrew Rannells was incredible in The Book of Mormon, but that is theatre. :kink:

Genius? If there's one thing NBC needs it's quality writing beyond the pilot episodes. Smash and Awake both started great and waned (Awake much moreso). If they get the pick of the writing crop they shouldn't have that problem.

That's my Logic behind genius, but they have exposed themselves to the competition prior to upfronts which isn't the best move in the book.

NBC also picks up single cam comedies 1600 Penn (about a family in the White House) and Animal Practice (about a vet with limited social skills). I'd say they have one more comedy slot now depending on whether they bring back Whitney, Up All Night or neither...

They haven't revealed any schedules as yet though, which still works to their advantage. I don't think the other networks see NBC as competition anymore outside of The Voice anyway

Sad thing is, a lot of these pick-ups sound really good on paper, but I doubt they'll last. Seems NBC and The CW are going for Cable type seasons then if a lot of these will be launching in August.

NBC has picked up Chicago Fire, no surprise there. Not the most exciting of their pilots but I reckon it could be a hit. I'll probably check it out, if only for Dana from The Good Wife and Taylor Kinney...

Well in the past seasons had around 30 episodes, with only a small Xmas break. Ratings were through the roof, and didnt fall much at all in Spring.

Are preview clips normal or not? Last year was my first 'upfronts' week so I don't know any different.

'Guys With Kids' picked up by NBC. All of these NBC shows sound decent enough so far.

It's their first multi-cam pickup (and maybe their last comedy pickup?). Sounds OK... ish. Might check it out.

Fox has officially picked up three single cam comedies: It's Messy (written by and starring Mindy Kaling, set in a medical office), Ben & Kate and The Goodwin Games (starring Scott Foley & Becki Newton). They won't be picking any others up.

They've started their drama pick-ups too with Mob Doctor (starring Jordana Spiro) and The Following (the buzzy Kevin Bacon FBI/serial killer drama), which is limited to 15 eps and might be kept for midseason. Only one drama is still in contention (Guilty with Cuba Gooding Jr).

The old title for 'Ben & Kate' was awful, thank god they changed it.

Great to have Becki Newton back too. The Kevin Bacon drama sounds very decent.

Interesting pick ups for Fox. The Following will probably end up at 9pm on Mondays to follow Bones in a Murder Monday.

Do No Harm (the Jekyll/Hyde inspired medical drama) has been picked up to series at NBC.

As has 'Infamous' [previously titled 'Notorious']. Focuses on a female detective, I've heard some comparisons to Revenge.

Yeah it does sound like a Revenge rip. Meagan Good is an interesting leading lady though. Any chance of a round up of the pickups so far being edited into the first post?
