February 29, 201213 yr Oh my God!! Even I didn't expect that!! Multiple exclamation marks are necessary to express my emotions!! Yes!! Surprising!! Kind of deserved!! Except for the shady radio deal!! !!
February 29, 201213 yr  Incredible achievement! It's still got life in it, and will no doubt climb into the top 3 shortly
February 29, 201213 yr Author Top 3 next week... and the way things r going, hopefully eventually #1.
February 29, 201213 yr Im not The Wanted's biggest fan but Im really chuffed, any UK act managing to have a bonafide hit in America gets a thumbs up from me.
February 29, 201213 yr The Wanted might as well milk this for what it's worth because they may never get this kind of US hit ever again. Even if that makes them a bonafied American "one hit wonder" alongside Right Said Fred and EMF, so what? :D
February 29, 201213 yr Author The Wanted might as well milk this for what it's worth because they may never get this kind of US hit ever again. Even if that makes them a bonafied American "one hit wonder" alongside Right Said Fred and EMF, so what? :D I thnk they'll do more than those 2 bands mentioned, esp. RSF as they were marketed as a novelty act anyway. But The Wanted and 1D have the potential of being this generation's BSB and N'Sync. Plus with The Wanted being top 5 on the singles' chart the same time 1D are expected to crack the album charts bodes well for publicity for both of them.
February 29, 201213 yr The only thing I dislike about them attempting to crack America at the same time is the rivalry between the fan bases. I feel like I'm one of very few people who likes both groups!
March 1, 201213 yr The only thing I dislike about them attempting to crack America at the same time is the rivalry between the fan bases. I feel like I'm one of very few people who likes both groups! Congrats to the Wanted- tally ho for the Brits etc. I was in River Island today and it was all very One Direction- esque clothing wise (which at 36 I can't get away with) so i went into All Saints to feel like The Wanted - I like to think I was doing my bit to bring the two fanbases together! :D
March 1, 201213 yr that has to be the first boyband single (and a BRITISH one at that) to go that high in the US in years! :o excellent news though, another act on the list of British breakthroughs since last year :D
March 1, 201213 yr ^ I'm not sure I'd get away with One Direction's style either, at 24. C.W, I've just compiled a list of UK pop groups who've had Billboard success... will make a new thread for it. From my findings, they're the only UK boy band in the last 20 or so years to go Top 5. Unless I'm missing something obvious.

March 1, 201213 yr Very true! :D I'm supportive of both doing well... and I hope it leads to even more British acts having success. (The current logic from "The Wanted haters" as to why #5 isn't anything special is "it's only because of Glee", lol.)

I went through all the UK boyband hits I could remember and according to Wikipedia, Take That's Back for Good made #7, Five's When the Lights Go Out made #10, BBMak's Back Here made #13, Westlife's Swear It Again made #20... all of which probably should have charted higher but the Billboard Hot 100 was such a miserable chart for so many years... EDIT: Or I could have just looked at your post from tonight!!!!! Just noticed that :P Edited March 1, 201213 yr by Consie
March 1, 201213 yr It's pretty remarkable for The Wanted to go Top 5 in the US! The last "big" UK boy group hit must of been Take That's 'Back For Good' in 1995 & that peaked at #7. Edited March 1, 201213 yr by West

March 1, 201213 yr EDIT: Or I could have just looked at your post from tonight!!!!! Just noticed that :P ! Oh, and I'd forgotten BBMak - will add them! I've heard they're massive in Canada as well. Don't know their official chart position there though. #26 so far, but I think the Canadian Hot 100 is a little behind. http://www.billboard.com/charts/canadian-h...anadian-hot-100 Part Of Me is new, and the Whitney re-entries are new to the chart.
