Well you won't get any argument from me about the Adele hype. Overrated to say the least. I would take Alexandra over her any day, vocally. When she uses her voice of course.

 

Except from her voice, Alexandra has good personality too. Adele has very good voice too but her latest album is not for 4.000.000 copies only in U.K.. I have listened a lot of albums and i don't think that "21" is so great..Maybe her appearance helped her a little bit because she is not provocative and she doesn't try to be sexy for selling albums (So many pop stars doing that..). She is a decent singer with a strong voice. On the other had, Alexandra has a better combination (Voice, Appearance, Songs). Surely, "Bad Boys" and "Broken Heels" are not better than "Rolling In The Deep" and "Set Fire To The Rain as to record production but they are not bad too. So, i prefer Alexandra for time being as you..

Yeah, you're agreeing with me. Part of Adele's appeal is not just her good songs and good singing, but also how she looks. We know full well that if she looked like a supermodel (e.g. Katy Perry), she wouldn't have sold as many albums, even if her songs were exactly the same. Part of the appeal is people see Adele and they think "she's just like me". I'm sure a lot of females get a bit jealous or upset to see such attractive women getting success in mainstream music all the time, and if Adele had Katy Perry's body, they'd've been put off her too.

Because while she has a beautiful voice she sings it as the perfect singing lesson. There is no feeling in it. Its like she doesn't know what she's singing. Its not a hymn. Its not really religious, in the sense its using biblical language and allegory to show the break down of a relationship. For example, the humilation and degradation is shown through Samson and Delilah 'She broke your throne and she cut your hair'. The 'Hallelujah' is ironic. Alexandra's version sounds airheaded in a way. Where is the passion, where is the pain, where is the torture?

 

 

I totally disagree, I think Alex put passion, feeling and emotion into her version of Hallelujah. The issue is that the original version by Leonard Cohen has never been sung in the style of Alex's voice. Simon clearly picked the song when he thought Diana Vickers would win and considering Alex was not keen to sing Hallelujah, kudos for the job she did.

Agree entirely. It's Susan Boyle syndrome with Adele. Oh she's so normal and ordinary but she's still doing well....... The British public are a sucker for an underdog. An of course saturation and being told how good she is all the time. Personally she bores the pants of me, like watching your Auntie sitting in a chair, snooze...

Adele is not my favourite artist, however I think she is stunning, and I find her far more attractive than most of the singers mentioned in previous posts. I also think her music is way way better than the kind of over simplistic sexualised drivel that Katy Perry and Rihanna spout all the time. However, all of this is my opinion. Yeah, exactly. Adele is a bit like an "anti-Cheryl Cole". Part of the appeal of Adele is that she's not attractive by the standards of the western world in 2011, and the converse is part of the reason Cheryl is so hated now.

Maybe, these bad comments come from girls..They say bad things about the appearance of Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce..Impossible!!! I know what you are trying to say, but the reason I don't warm to Cheryl is that her celebrity has always far out weighed any talent. I don't think it's purely coz she pretty. You can be talented and attractive :)

Alex's new one? I think its ok for what it is and she does a good job but I wouldn't buy it tbh. OK in a club but not anything any other number of female singers couldn't do though. She's wasted on it. I think it will go Top 3.

Surely, you are right. She shouldn't release this song after two years. Elephant sounds amazing in a club but it's not her best. "Collide" was much better than this but it's not very successful. I think that "Elephant" will have much better sales than "Collide". Maybe, the audience prefer listening to this kind of songs like Elephant with cheapy video (Like Romanian songs).

This kind of song is popular at the moment and Alex is versatile enough to tap into that and have a hit in this environment. She's young so I'm sure she can do different stuff going forward as well when things change. I think she's s more of an all rounder than Leona and is more comfortable with this kind of thing so I think it will do better than Collide like you say.
