March 12, 201213 yr Author Thanks for that extra info. The "longest chart career" has been passing between the likes of Doris Day, Frankie Laine etc. on a regular basis for the last few years. How many of them will have something released for the Christmas market to take their career beyond 60 years? Will anything by Vera Lynn get into the chart when she dies (she will be 95 next week)?
March 12, 201213 yr I've noticed that several Acts, who were big in the 1950's Singles Charts, have never had a UK Hit Album - in any Decade. These include Guy Mitchell, Al Martino, Rosemary Clooney, Eddie Fisher, & David Whitfield. But, an Act who was never truly huge in the 1950's Singles Charts - Slim Whitman - somehow remained popular enough to have a 6 Week No.1 Album in 1976, & a 4 Week No.1 Album in 1977. As well as a No.2 Album later in 1977. Yet, he only had one huge 1950's Hit - 'Rose Marie' - 11 Weeks at No.1 in 1955. Other than that, he only had 2 No.7 Singles, & a No.8 Single, as regards the Top 10.
