45. B.o.B 'So Hard to Breathe'

 

It irritates me that the US get all these promotional singles leading up to an album, but the UK get very little (bar Lady Gaga). Instead we're made to wait for both the single and the album in the hope that it'll secure the artist a high-peaking first week position.

 

We got some promo singles from David Guetta, Eminem, Nicki Minaj and The Black Eyed Peas before, aswell.

 

But yeah, we do miss out on a lot of them, even from those artists above, it's kinda annoying. I do think they would generally help album sales aswell.

Chris Brown has a new song at #45. It's really good imo. Musically it's a bit like Somebody That I Used to Know actually, with lots of weird sounds and percussion in it.

The Maroon 5 song is interesting... The verses sound good imo, but when the "Payphone" bit kicks in, it's really cringe. Wiz's section sounds completely out of place and beat, but i like him so i guess i'll forgive him :lol:

 

It's SOOO cringe!!! Levine's voice sounds like a screeching, inhuman auto-tuned mess... the lyrics are stupid as hell, trying to appeal to some ill-conceived and nonexistent nostalgia for pay phones (really??) and the cursing is beyond awkward... "one more f***ing love song, i'll be sick" indeed...

I think if you call Gotye a Belgian-born Australian then Nicki Minaj is a Trinidadian-born American surely? They both moved into Australia and USA respectively when they were little.

Just read on twitter that gotye sold 542k this week, that is extraordinary must be 2nd or 3rd highest sales week ever in the US digitally?

Heard 'Chasing The Sun' the other day and it's really good - they can't seriously be releasing 'Heart Vacancy' over it in the US? The fact that it's in the top 40 while HV never even went top 300 should tell them something.
