Apols if there's another topic about this album somewhere in here, but I couldn't find it because the stupid search system wouldn't let me search for words with less than 4 letters. ANYWAY.

 

I'm a massive Britney fan but I've never listened to any pre-Blackout albums and have recently given her first four a good listen. The standout, of course, was IN THE ZONE.

 

I know exactly what people mean now when they say it was the pre-cursor to Blackout and, to a degree, Femme Fatale. It stands miles ahead of her first three too. My favourites are 'Showdown', 'I Got That Boom Boom', 'Early Mornin' and 'Touch of My Hand'.

 

Please indulge me and discuss.

It's not one of my favourites no. Infact my next few favourites (apart from the singles) would be 'Shadow' and 'Outrageous'.

 

I always thought of Britney as an artist with good single choices rather than strong albums, so I had no interest in buying any of her albums retrospectively. They were 3 for £5 in a second hand shop though... :P

In The Zone is my favourite Britney album and it's tied for my favourite album ever I think. It's a classic and I love every song except for Shadow and Boom Boom which are just "good". And everything outside of the music was perfect too. Her best artwork by a mile, best videos, best everything really. It's just a pity the era couldn't last longer. :( ALSO, Britney totally got the single choices perfect. Can't believe Jive wanted to lead with Outrageous and have Boom Boom second! :drama:

'Early Mornin' is my favourite on the album, can play it on repeat. I think 'Touch of My Hand' and 'Showdown' are followed closely but every song is brilliant.

 

It's such a different sound for a Britney album and I hope she experiments more with it with future releases.

I agree. She worked mostly with Bloodshy & Avant on this album right? If so, she needs to get her arse back in that studio with them because the stuff on this album is just so far ahead of most of the album tracks I've heard from her.

'Breathe On Me' is easily the best non-single, it should've been properly released as a follow-up to 'Everytime'.

I'm really not feeling the Breathe On Me love. I wouldn't rate it in the top 50% of the album.

SLICK. 'Breathe On Me' is amazing! Other total gems from ITZ include 'Early Mornin'' and 'Outrageous'. The singles too, obviously.

ITZ was pretty perfect singles-wise until Outrageous which should have been Breathe On Me. Outrageous could have came after that but I would have liked the era to close with Brave New Girl (although it probably wouldn't have smashed it feels like it would be fitting).

STILL not getting the Breathe On Me love. It's a 7/10 moment at most. I've listened to it 8 times and I can't remember any of it. Sorry :(

The middle 8 and final chorus of Breathe On Me are LIFE.

They planed to release 'Breathe On Me' as 5th single :snif: I can't even think how the video would look

Breathe On Me's lyrics and production make it an outstanding track. They blend perfectly together... it's incredibly sexy and sultry with just a drop of $l*t - PERFECT.

I must side with Slick and say 'Breathe On Me' didn't really hit me until I saw the Onyx Hotel performance! My mind was BLOWN and the song pretty much clicked with me from there on in!

Blackout was a much better album imo.

ITZ just edges it for me. Both among my faves ever though.
