March 21, 201213 yr It would be a travesty if Adele ever gets into that top 5 and above one of the 5 of the greatest acts ever to grace out charts.
March 21, 201213 yr It would be a travesty if Adele ever gets into that top 5 and above one of the 5 of the greatest acts ever to grace out charts. Oh behave.
March 21, 201213 yr It would be a travesty if Adele ever gets into that top 5 and above one of the 5 of the greatest acts ever to grace out charts. If? Ever? She's 130k away from number 5. She'll be there before the start of the summer.
March 21, 201213 yr It would be a travesty if Adele ever gets into that top 5 and above one of the 5 of the greatest acts ever to grace out charts. She's already about hundreds of more influential artists. This is a sales chart and reflects what the public like - which we all know is usually suspect.
March 21, 201213 yr It would be a travesty if Adele ever gets into that top 5 and above one of the 5 of the greatest acts ever to grace out charts. Travesty or not she is likely to be at number four by the end of the year. That will make 21 the second best selling studio album ever.
March 21, 201213 yr Hopefully the OCC/MW will keep on spamming us about this every time she climbs a spot because love seeing the totals of other albums. Edited March 21, 201213 yr by SKOB
March 21, 201213 yr It would be a travesty if Adele ever gets into that top 5 and above one of the 5 of the greatest acts ever to grace out charts. I always thought the top 10 best selling albums ever reflects the acts that changed the face of music, which Adele hasn't really done so I guess I sort of agree on the one hand - but on the other, its incredible to see an album doing this well in this day and age, and one that will probably go down in history - either way, its blatantly going to climb into the top 5 within a few months :P
March 21, 201213 yr I love 'Dark Side Of The Moon'. It was one of the few records that my husband an d I bothy owned when we met. It's still as good when played now
March 21, 201213 yr Insane! I did think Thriller would be higher (both in sales and position), she'll be in the top 4 very soon. It'd be astonishing to see her actually take the top if she actually manages to, I'd like to see it happen just for the sheer madness of it all.
March 21, 201213 yr I continue to be flabbergasted by Adele's success. I adore her to pieces but even I have to think "woah now, hang on!" when she starts to overtake albums like 'Dark Side of the Moon' and 'Thriller'. I'm not sure what it is that's made her THIS huge.
March 21, 201213 yr The 'Dark Side Of The Moon' sold around 50 million worldwide. So we'll see if Adele can break that, there's more to the UK market remember. I'd say she's more influential than Dire Straits. No shes not, Dire Straits span across decades, we'll see what she does with next album, and the one after that. In addition she's not as high on the worlds list. I don't think she's even CLOSE to the top 10 at the moment, or even top 20, or even top 30? Michael Jacksons Thriller will stand at number 1 probably for the remaining future, with sales of 60-70 million of whatever it is. Edited March 21, 201213 yr by Sharpshooter
March 21, 201213 yr It will be #1, i have no doubt in my mind. Obviously its a while away yet but it'll get there, 2014 i'd say, maybe 2015. It really is incredible to see. :o  Edited March 21, 201213 yr by Karma

It really is incredible to see. :o  Those other albums are still selling, Abba have sold nearly 400k in the best part of 2 years for example, so its not as clear cut as you think.
March 21, 201213 yr I still think Adele will undoubtedly make it. They may be selling 400K in 2 years, Adele could easily sell double that and more in one year so its just a matter of time i'd say. It isnt even selling for a discounted price yet :o

It isnt even selling for a discounted price yet :o Not forever she wont. She possibly could make it I agree in time, like 5-10 years or more. But it's nowhere near the all time selling list of the world anyway, which is a bigger market (PHEW). Then of course, Queen members will die, leaving a trail of a new generation to discover their music boosting their sales haha (joking). Edited March 21, 201213 yr by Sharpshooter
March 21, 201213 yr Incidently does anyone know how close Back to Bedlam is from entering the top 10? Edited March 21, 201213 yr by Sharpshooter
March 21, 201213 yr No way 5-10 years  Definitely a maximum of three years. I think its capable in doing it in 2 years. It has 1,700,000 to make up and say the ones above her are still selling so we'll say 2million, she'll make that up. Its not leaving the top 10 any time soon (even if it does it will spend years in top 40 ), and as i say once discounted sales will stay consistent and may even rise, it will get there, and in no more then three years. March 21, 201213 yr It has the power to be anywhere between 2-4 by the end of this year which is quite something. I mean we have to remember this album isn't about to drop off the chart - its still in the top 10 and hasn't left it since its release. In another point - anyone think Abba - Gold could make it to 5 million by the summer?
