March 24, 201213 yr The idea that Geri Halliwell holds this record is quite ludicrous to me. This is the woman who has 3 albums and precisely 1 decent song... Geri Halliwell sat next to me (with her GORGEOUS boyf) at the theatre last Saturday night...... watchng the brilliant Jill Halfpenny in Abigail's Party at the Chocolate Factory in London. Crikey, she's SO tiny.... and old looking. Kara Tointon was in this production of Abigail's Party no? How was she?
March 24, 201213 yr Geri Halliwell is as mad as a box of frogs. Personality - YES. Talent - NO. Her music was hideous and that's coming from a big gay like me. I'm not that fussed on any of the contenders for her crown either. I do think Alexandra Burke could do it though. She's the only one releasing material atm. I think if she releases a decent record to lead her album, she could easily scrape a 'one-week' #1.
March 24, 201213 yr Author Goodness me what a travesty Geri holds this record in the first place. Awful, Awful. If I had to pick someone to equal it I would go for Alexandra. She'll have to release something a hell of a lot better than Elephant though. Don't say that :( Geri is a really great singer, she's a gay icon too & she deserved her 4 number 1's.... they are all great songs, very campish & fun.... :dance:

March 24, 201213 yr Jessie J could be in with a chance thinking about it. I've not heard 'Laserlight' but with the media profile boost gained from being one of the mentors on The Voice UK, this new single might get to #1. Then there's the inevitable "let's copy America and have our own Maroon 5 feat. Christina Aguilera" hit. So that's either The Script feat. Jessie J (which would be ideal considering both are popular in America) or the less enticing Tom Jones feat. Will.I.Am. (please no!!! :( ). That's potentially two more #1 singles for Jessie J to add to 'Price Tag' and 'Domino'. Therefore I'm voting Other!!! :o (Leona could get there but she needs to comeback with an absolute gem to stand any chance).
March 24, 201213 yr I hadn't thought of that - it's entirely possible that our The Voice will do that :drama: The Script ft. Jessie J would be much more bearable than Tom Jones ft. Will.I.AM - thing is I can see the latter happening... :manson: Although thankfully on The Voice US they didn't put the weird pairing of Cee-Lo and Blake Shelton together, we can only hope that if they follow it over here that it's The Script and Jessie J.... It would be great for Jessie J to get Laserlight to number 1 as well as the potential duet track!

March 24, 201213 yr will.i.am feat. Tom Jones. AMAZE. On reflection, it could be good. :lol: I like 'T.H.E.' as it's bizarre and mental but catchy as a cold. :D So the potential of a Will.I.Am. feat. Tom Jones hit might not be as bad as we'd expect. Look at Englebert at Eurovision. Not the best song ever but certainly far from being the worst. :o

Jill Halfpenny played Beverley, Joe Absolom played the neighbour's brutish husband, the dark curly haired girl from Two Pints of Lager played the dopey wife, and some guy from Ghost Stories played Beverley's husband.... it was a seriously great play...... and Geri seemed to love it. I was shocked how small and old she looks in real life... how old does she claim to be nowadays? As for Geri being a 'gay icon'.... no way. Yes, she recorded Its Raining Men, and yes, she fronted Britain's 2nd best ever pop girlband.... but a gay icon? Absolutely utterly not. She's done absolutely nothing for the gay movement.... and let's not forget, this is a woman who named Margaret Thatcher as her 'heroine'... the same Margaret Thatcher who attempted to criminalise being gay in the 1980s...so a gay icon? Only if you're stupid, I think.

March 28, 201213 yr It is a travesty that Geri holds this record to begin with, utterly talentless, she did have determination in bucket loads but talent was something she never possessed especially in the vocal department. From the artists listed i voted Alexandra Burke but i wouldnt rule out Leona Lewis or Pixie Lott doing it either. I would rather any of them on the list to take the record from Geri Halliwel.

Geri IS a gay icon whether we admit it or not... he music is 100 % campish & gayish , her videos are gay friendly & themed ('Mi chico Latino', 'Bag it up' 'Look at me' , Desire'.....) , her lyrics are even gayer ( such as 'Queer Funkin' on 'Look at me') , she even has a song called G-A-Y for God's Sake.... she was more of a gay icon than any of today's female stars 'pretend' to be, she even did her version of the ultimate gay theme 'It's raining men'... i'm sure she didn't know about the Margaret Thatcher comments.....
