April 25, 201213 yr Governments often take us for idiots but this really does take the biscuit. Not that most people can afford biscuits any more of course. Hot pasties neither! Kath
April 25, 201213 yr Then why on EARTH were you considering voting Tory a few weeks back?! At least Craig was consistent.
April 26, 201213 yr Author I really hope France gets a socialist government. That'll put Merkel's nose right out of joint. The austerity that Merkozy and Camoron have been peddling really really really isn't working. Personally I'd lay the blame of the Eurozone crisis squarely at the door of Austerity. Without it I think that we would have been in a far better position to assist Greece and avoid dragging Ireland, Spain, Portugal and Italy into serious problems. Ireland were always going to have a tough time with the complete collapse of the financial sector but a Eurozone without the pressures of Austerity would have been in a better position to help them. The Americans and the Australians, as I've said before, are the best indicators at what could have happened without austerity. Australia took a srs approach to stimulating the economy and only had a quarter of negative growth and is the fastest growing western economy. Ruddeconmoics seems a lot less silly now.
