Posted April 3, 201213 yr It hit 4 million earlier this year, it's already sold about 408,000 this year. When will it hit the big 5 million? I think possibly October-December 2012!
April 3, 201213 yr To be honest I can't see the album selling more than 8k a week after this year is over. So I say 2014 and over.
April 3, 201213 yr No way it NEVER hits 5 million. After such massive success Adele will be stupid to not release her 3rd album this year or at the beginning of 2013, which will definitely boost sales for '21' up in the SKY again. Can it even reach 6 million? I'd say it's a possibility.
April 3, 201213 yr She is apparently expecting to release a new song before the end of the year. IF that is included on a deluxe edition of the album - along with the Brits performance of Someone Like You and other bits and pieces - it would probably make it by the end of the year. However, if she sticks to her guns and doesn't release a deluxe edition, it may not happen until around the time of the release of album number three.

It looks like she has written little - if anything - for the new album so far. That would suggest late 2013 at the very earliest.
April 3, 201213 yr Apparently, Adele is saying that she has not had time to start writing her 3rd Album, yet. She will certainly not be releasing an Album in 2012. However - she is going to release a Single - brand New Track - later in 2012. There are rumours that she has been chosen to Sing the Theme to the next James Bond Film - 'Skyfall'. The Film is out in October. If it is true, then we can expect the Adele Single to be called 'Skyfall', & to be released in September or in October. We will see..... April 3, 201213 yr This album is impossible to predict! She still has a bit of a way to go so I'm gonna say January 2014, but releasing a new single/deluxe edition/bond theme could well get it there before mid-2013 so I'm not entirely sure!

The title of the single will be different to the title of the movie, the last 2 Bond films did not use the title of the movies. Casino Royale (2006) You Know My Name – Chris Cornell Quantum of Solace (2008) Another Way to Die – Jack White & Alicia Keys Edit: Cancel that.

After such massive success Adele will be stupid to not release her 3rd album this year or at the beginning of 2013, which will definitely boost sales for '21' up in the SKY again. How would she be stupid not to do that? 21 only experienced hugely phenomenal sales because the music, lyrics and conviction connected to so many people. If she tries to rush out another album before the end of the year, it isn't even going to compare to her last album. And even if it did (which it wouldn't), the vast majority of people on the planet probably couldn't handle another Adele album so soon due to the overplay of RITD, SLY and SFTTR. Adele will only find as much success as she did with 21 if she stays away for a few years.
April 3, 201213 yr Hopefully never. It doesn't deserve to overtake MJ's Thriller. It'll be a sad day for music if and when it does. And Adele has already said that she knows she won't enjoy the same success again that 21 experienced. I think it would be almost impossible for any artist to sell near 20 million copies of an album worldwide and then do the same with a follow up. Edited April 3, 201213 yr by jay727
April 4, 201213 yr Hopefully never. It doesn't deserve to overtake MJ's Thriller. It'll be a sad day for music if and when it does. I don't think MJ's Thriller deserved to sell as much as MJ's Thriller.

I never really liked Michael Jackson, so in my opinion, it's sad that such a bad (imo) album sold as much as it did. Not that I particularly like 21 that much either, I appreciate it for what it is, and that millions of people around the world love it. Get over it, Michael Jackson reached his peak in the 80s and unfortunately not around anymore, it's only natural and to be expected that someone will overtake him someday.

April 4, 201213 yr I said 'January 2014 or later', because I know she is dead against re-releases (so although the probable Bond theme should get her a few sales, but not a few hundred thousand) and she has said she isn't releasing her new album for another 'good 2 years' - I don't think 21 will hit 5 million until then, as a sort of mini 19 effect, but it won't sell as much as 19 did upon 21's release.
April 4, 201213 yr I think the beginning of next year, still, if it reached 5 million in 2 years, then thats 3 years to get to 5 million, far faster than ANYONE has ever done that.
April 4, 201213 yr Hopefully never. It doesn't deserve to overtake MJ's Thriller. It'll be a sad day for music if and when it does. Thriller is less than 100k away so it'll overtake it very soon. And 21 has overtaken its "normal" total long ago. Try killing Adele and see what happens. Edited April 4, 201213 yr by Hilderic

No one can question that. I know one day Thriller will be overtaken in the UK but I just wish it was by an artist and album that deserve it. Worldwide Thriller won't be touched by Adele or anyone else. In America alone its 29x Platinum ( http://www.riaa.com/goldandplatinumdata.ph...&perPage=50 ) and has sold 110 million worldwide because it is one of the best albums ever made. Comparing Adele to Michael Jackson is just ridiculous. He had a 30 year career and so much influence. She is a non entity in comparison. Let's see if she's still at this level in 5 years let alone 30. All she is an ordinary woman with a decent voice that the public has taken a liking to for some reason I can't see. She is nothing special. At least in my opinion. I'm shocked something so banal has sold this many copies tbh.
