"Redefined Music" - you're having a laugh surely? "Billie Jean" and "Beat It" yes, but listening to the rest of the album now sounds like 75% filler. "Thriller" itself is a vastly overblown musical nonsense, remembered more for it's video than the music.

90% of the songs are well remembered today, and helped shape MJ the artist.

 

Bad is my favourite album though. It really challenged genre and didn't stick to the same format- something that the best albums do imo. It's THE ultimate album imo.

This is rather an academic argument surely, it's all about subjective opinion. This is a thread about sales, and on that front 21 has now outsold it. Whether or not it proves in the future to have cultural impact our to be thought of as one of the great albums of all time no one can predict as it's way to recent.

Why not, she's outsold the Thriller in the uk, so why shouldnt it be mentioned?.

 

 

I don't want be a judge for male artists, but want to add my opinion about albums with female vocals.

 

I have:

ABBA - Gold Greatest Hits (4/5)

I like ABBA, but I'm not big fan of their biggest hits. I prefer "More Gold" or "Definitive Collection". Favourite albums: Ring Ring, Arrival

 

Madonna - Immaculate Collection (5/5)

Her first 4 albums were classic of pure pop. This album include most my favourite her songs. I'm a fan of her early career [1983-1990]

 

Shania Twain - Come On Over (5/5)

Amazing album. Every song is good. She is the best female singer from 90s decade.

 

Dido - No Angel (4/5) + Dido - Life For Rent (4/5)

I like all singles from both albums, but some tracks are not so good.

 

Corrs - Talk On Corners (3.5/5)

Good, but without huge hits and signature songs for me

 

Spice Girls - Spice (2.5/5)

Yes, I like UK pop music, I adore most girlbands, but this album is very overrated. I give 4/5 for their second album "Spiceworld", from this album I really like only

"2 Become 1" and maybe "Say You'll Be There"

 

Lady Gaga - Fame (1.5/5)

Don't like her person.

 

Fleetwood Mac - Rumours (1/5)

I dislike this album very much. Of course, "Dreams" is wonderful song, but all another songs are nothing for me. I was catched in the bestseller's trap. When I bought it, that I wait another ABBA and Blondie with leading female vocals. It was my big mistake. Maybe it's classic album for somebody, but not for me. Sorry, fans.

 

Don't have, but know singles:

Leona Lewis - Spirit (???)

She has good voice, but I dislike "Bleeding Love" and she don't have songs for me.

 

Adele - 21 (1/5)

Another very overrated artist, she can be good as opera star, but her music is not pop. I don't understand her "killing" success.

 

Amy Winehouse - Back To Black (0/5)

She is #1 in my worst list ever. I don't like her person and don't like her music.
