I haven't liked a single song by them since 'Beat Again'

I honestly believe their time is up, their fanbase seem to have moved to 1D (and rightly so). You can TELL they hate the music they're releasing as well which doesn't help.

I agree with what everyone is saying, JLS are deffinately on the way out. They've had a few good songs in a bad bunch, but compared to the likes of The Wanted and 1D they really are the weakest link. Their music offers no creativity, just embarassingly generic.

All very exciting...I really can't wait to hear what their stuff with Darkchild will sound like. If it's as good as the stuff he did with *NSYNC on 'Celebrity' I'll be happy anyway :)

Oh god, another generic one then..

How about actually waiting to hear what it will sound like instead of writing it off before you've even heard it? Or is that too difficult?

How about putting the dummy back in your mouth, or is that too difficult?

I'm more than willing to say so if I'm wrong, but by the looks of it, I won't be.

'Can you believe it album four is coming' <<<< YES because they release the same old dross every year repackaged with a new picture of them and a generic title to go with the generic bland music they create.

Said it many many times but they need to go away for a year, sit in a studio with good writers and make the transition from formulaic boy band to credible long lasting artist. If they keep knocking out the same old garbage then they will be lucky to make a 5th album, the facts and the sales! are there for everyone to see...unless JLS reinvent themselves they will be on next years Big Brother or Im a Celeb. Harsh but true, for the record i dont dislike them I just feel that they are wasting their potential. They better hope a new boyband doesnt come off the XF production line this year

These artists need to keep putting albums out or else other artists come who are younger, and steal their fanbases. It's the digital era, things move at a quicker pace and acts are recycled quicker. If JLS go away for a year they would bomb completely.

I agree with Rooney. The music industry has changed a lot with the digital era - everything is much more accessible so things move faster. People think artists have given up on music or flopped if they take longer than a year or so to put another album out (which always frustrates me no end), so it's no wonder that artists try to get new material out asap. The problem is that a lot of people cannot consistently put out GOOD material in such short periods of time. I've liked all of JLS's stuff but there's no denying the quality has declined.

Just noticed the comment at the top 'You can tell they hate the music they're releasing'. Given they're the ones writing or co-writing 90% of their songs that's bit of a misjudged assumption, no?

TBH it's always baffled me why JLS get pulled up more than any artist for going an album a year - and I somehow think some of it is purely on virtue of the type of pop act they are because unless you're Take That or Backstreet Boys boybands always seem to get a hard time where female artists and girl groups don't - when tons of other artists like Rihanna do it with their albums (and the likes of One Direction appear to be doing because oh yes, let's not forget they've broken America and we all need to arse kiss them to kingdom come, blah blah blah) and no one seems to bat an eyelid.

They've always said right from the start when they formed themselves that they wanted to get as much out of the next 10 years as possible before they take stock and take a break. I find that highly commendable that they do work so hard and are so focussed - if you've been to see them live you'll know why their tours are always a success - and like Rooney said it's unrealistic to expect every single artist to take massive gaps between their albums when some work better under certain release patterns/styles of working than others.

But I think the people writing them off - which the majority of you are, let's be honest - need to hush up and actually hear the material first before you consign them to the dumpers. They've certainly spent longer on this album than they have their other ones because they started recording for it in January and didn't even release the 1st single in July as has been the way with their last three albums.

Yeah they released their 1st single in March this time with Proud and before you say it wasnt the lead single, Ortise says it is here http://www.capitalfm.com/artists/jls/news/...th-album-sound/

and for the record it spent 2 weeks in the top 40 and became their first single from a new album to miss number 1, and in fact the top 5 altogether.

With regard to them spending longer on the album they said that by January they had nearly finished it. http://www.capitalfm.com/artists/jls/news/...album-progress/

Saying that I will reserve judgement on the new single until i hear it but going on what they have done in the past its hard to see it being anything other than a dreary cliched ballad or a generic club song

Well said - you've only got to look at the state of Burke's career to show that long gaps between albums just don't work for pop acts unless you are hugely estabished artists that have been around for a decade or so.

Be interesting to see what the JLS song is though - it would have to be something pretty spectacular not to continue the downward sales trend their albums seem to be having. The fact is their fanbase is growing up or gone over to 1D/ TW - however for a pop act... and especuially an XF generated act 4 albums is a huge amount

So it would appear from Twitter just now that the name of the new album is 'Evolution' - all the proof that seems to exist is from this screen capture of what obviously was going to be a teaser thing on their website that got leaked early by mistake:

I'm not sure whether someone's made that screen capture from clever cut/pasting or not so I'll take it with a pinch of salt for now but if it is indeed the title it's good - a strong statement of intent in any case.

EDIT: Turns out it was an early leak!

Let's just hope then that there is some sort of 'evoultion' with this record then. They have so much potential and they are clearly talented, but it's amounted to nothing imo so far.

The first single is apparently called 'Reload' and is produced by Toby Gad (who they also worked with on 'Love You More'). Will be interesting to see how this one sounds! I have a feeling from the titles etc that this will be a more mature sounding album in any case.

Well no, because on the X Factor they stated their name Jack the Lad Swing was about their own style of music, yet what they release is exactly the same as everything else out there. So clearly it's not quite how they wanted their sound to be. They're quite obviously very controlled within their label/management and take some 'control' back by writing it? They'll have no say on the sound though I imagine.

Well judging the content of a song based on the title they have given it isnt really grounds for us all to get excited. But I agree that titles such as Club is Alive and DYFWIF sounded like a car crash waiting to happen before they were played. This is a pivotal album for them. If this single doesnt provide a solid step forward then the album sales will be restricted to the fans who havent grown out of them..

I dont understand why they have to call their album Evolution either. Surely we dont have to be told that they have undergone a musical evolution, their music and this lead single should let us know automatically that we are in for something different that what they have offered again, and again..

Lol @ the cliché album title.

Still, excited to hear some new music from them. I'm not really a fan but I like most of their singles :)
