Oh Brandy :( I actually have no words, and usually I like this 'sound'... Sincerely hope it's a grower, I quite like Chris Brown in general but he just needs to f*** off right now.

The song, on the other hand, is everything that's wrong with R&B in 2012.

 

I don't get it. The "Human" album was so good, classic Brandy etc., so why does she appear to have lost it with these last two singles?!

 

Admittedly I've grown to really love the song with Monica, but that was equally lacking a proper melody. This has no melody, no proper chorus and displays the worst of Brandy's vocals. (the rap-like verses are different for her, but not in a good way, and the harmonies are way too breathy to sound good.) I actually found myself waiting for Chris Brown to appear/for it to finish on first listen - this shouldn't happen with one of my favourite artists!

 

Hopefully I'll grow to like it. I don't like this direction for her. :(

I've only just heard 'Put It Down' and I can only echo what has already been said (and I mean the negative things). Chris Brown is very hot in the video though, if only he kept his mouth shut then it could've been half-decent.
