I think some of us just need to get over the fact that not every big hit will get to #1. It's always going to happen. It happens in every country in the world. Nothing we can do about it.

Who knows though, We Are Young maybe might get #1 the week after The Wanted. Surely it'll have enough longevity to be in with a chance?

That's what I'm predicting.

I'm kind of expecting them to beat Rita this week?
Not another whistle track, this could get annoying as hell, I remember another Whistle track a few years back it was quite annoying.

Was it Juelz Santana - There It Go (The Whistle Song)

or DJ Alligator - The Whistle Song

That Juelz Santana song is AMAZING!!!!

In the US last year there were quite a lot of hits involving whistling. Moves Like Jagger, I Wanna Go (Britney Spears), Pumped Up Kicks, Good Life (One Republic), and I'm sure there were some others too.

And it's a different type of whistle, but I love the whistle sounds (like the ones they play at sports matches) in the beats to Stupid Hoe and I Can Transform Ya by Chris Brown. It's so catchy, more songs should use them.

Gareth Malone doing a Jubilee record with Gary Barlow :o Gareth Malone proved last xmas he knows how to get a song to #1 with massive sales

You mean - attach a song with no musical merit to a popular charity?

(apologies if I've got the quite wrong here)

If it were to do so, it would be on woeful sales of around 35k, by that time. :(

Maybe it could increase in sales again though because of the recent promotion.

*What* recent promotion?

I think they were in the Live Lounge this week. The song has got to #1 on iTunes even though it had a sales decrease last week, so it's clearly been boosted in some way imo.

Surely if it's sales are decreasing it hasn't had a boost at all, it's just not falling as fast as everything around it and has climbed to the top completely by default?

If that's the case, the Call Me Maybe is looking at a massive drop in sales this week!!

Fun. will lose it by 3K i'd say... very sad. This was their last chance... a FANTASTIC run anyway.
Well it had one last week, so I don't see why not.

Here's last week's sales:

1 Rita Ora/Tinie Tempah 104,592

2 Tulisa 63,649 (185,343)

3 Carly Rae Jepsen 59,183 (573,942)

4 Alex Clare 58,284 (175,664)

5 fun./Janelle Monae 52,719 (301,181)

6 Train 37,939 (122,779)

7 Far East Movement/Justin Bieber 33,287

8 Rihanna 30,149

9 Gotye feat. Kimbra 29,241 (977,983)

Carly is now 0.765 of fun. on iTunes.

Also, in the Friday mid-weeks it says fun. were only down by 5%:

The singles market is also pretty close with Columbia/Roc Nation’s Rita Ora featuring Tinie Tempah single R.I.P. around 6,000 sales out in front. It may well be overtaken on Sunday by Fun featuring Janelle Moae’s Atlantic/Fueled By Ramen single We Are Young, which is showing a 5-2 move on the midweeks and its sales down only a modest 5% on the week compared to 50% for R.I.P.

So both should on or around 50-55k by the end of week? That's pretty low :(
I'm not sure what your point is? All you've done is prove me entirely correct there. Carly dropped over 25% last week, if she does again this week she'll be below 45k, more than 5k behind what fun. is projected to do. As I said, it hasn't had a boost, it's just that everything else is falling much quicker so has climbed to the top by default.

Urgh!!! Trust single sales to drop so much this week only to make way for The Wanted. Can't see 'Chasing The Sun' getting over 100k - will probably sell similar to 'Lightning' but benefit from a lack of massive hit (ie; 'We Found Love') so will be a surefire one week wonder. :(

As for this Diamond Jubilee song with Gareth & Gary, that will be a massive selling single - at least for the week it's released. Would be gutted though if it ended up outselling Gotye in the YTD chart though.

Unless it is linked to a major charity (?) I see no reason why it would be a massive seller? And even if it *is*, there's still no way in hell that it'll sell enough to challenge the year's top sellers!
