May 13, 201213 yr Would have LOVED Balotelli to score the winner but regardless, what a way to end the season. Real shame to see Bolton go down but must have been nice for the QPR fans to be able to celebrate alongside their City counterparts. It looked for 89 minutes like the title fight was between two teams that didn't want to win the league, both bottled it multiple times this season and if Chelsea get thumped by Bayern then this season really is a low point for English football.

I don't think it is a low point for English football, just these things work in cycles. At the moment La Liga is being prized as the greatest thing since sliced bread, whereas pre 2006 with Barca both of the dominant teams really struggled in European football. And previous to Mourinho and Benitez coming in to English football, Manchester United and Arsenal were failing miserably in the Champions League. 2007-2010 was a real high point for English football, and the quality probably won't happen again for a while. We have Gerrard in his peak, Torres in his peak, Ronaldo, Alonso, Mascherano, Fabregas, Drogba, Makelele, Lampard, Terry, all players hitting their peak. Things have fizzled out. Obviously the tax cap is massive aswell, I think 45% of sportsmans wages go to the taxman, whereas it is only like 20% in Spain. The hardest part of starting a dynasty is the first trophy. Once you're proved yourself, you just have to do it consistently. We have some good players in the Premier League, but La Liga arguably has better players. In two/three seasons I reckon we'll once again be the top league in the world.

May 13, 201213 yr So glad to see a new team as champions. Fergie will blame either the referee, the linesman or man city cheating as according to nhim he never does anything wrong. Why did joey barton have to get so wound up. on twitter he says that he lashed out at aguero because a member of his team told him to take one of man citys team with him. It's people like him and balotelli that brand footballers a bad name. Except he didn't. Ferguson was very gracious in defeat. He didn't even mention that City should also have been down to ten men as Tevez lashed out first. Of course, he might not have known that when he spoke. It also doesn't excuse Barton's reaction. Man U haven't looked good for most of the season yet they have still managed to get more points than any previous runner-up. That doesn't say a lot for the quality of the Premier League this season.

It's a mentality thing with Manchester United, especially at Old Trafford. I'd love to see the stats of how many teams have come behind at Old Trafford to win. Teams just roll over for them, it's happened since I can remember. Too many managers are scared of Fergie aswell. They need two central midfielders if they want to challenge for the title again next season.
May 13, 201213 yr Well, as much as I hate Man City they do deserve to be champions this year. Should do well for years to come. The final two minutes was amazing and I agree Tevez should have been off too. Most gutting thing though is fo Bolton. Stoke's first goal shouldn't have counted - it was a foul and no matter how I look at it their penalty stills looks like Crouch dived to me. I'm prepared to accept it may have been genuine though.
May 13, 201213 yr I'm gutted for Bolton, I didin't think overall they deserved to go down into the Championship especially as they've played the season with their key players injured. I doubt that they will be able to recover fully tbh, I can see them spending a while in the Championship.

My first thought was that it was not a penalty but Crouch is not exactly known as a diver. Stoke's first goal should definitely not have been allowed but Bolton can't use that as an excuse.

Just watched MOTD, I heavily doubt that was a penalty and it was harsh on Bolton to say the least, Stoke's first goal should have never been allowed, disgraceful.

I think they'll go straight back up, I can't imagine them losing too many of their better players. Wolves will do OK aswell. Blackburn doomed. There's no obvious teams that look to do well next season. I imagine Cardiff will go all out for promotion, especially since they've decided to change shirt colours (idiots!) for money reasons. The Sheffield clubs might do well. Birmingham won't be near the play-offs next season for example.
May 14, 201213 yr Being a City supporter I was at the Etihad yesterday. The atmosphere was electric. We were just about to leave when Dzeco scored so we stayed and it was unbelievable when Aguero scored also. It was absolute brilliance. As for Barton he should have been banned from the game long since. Maybe Tevez should also have gone but Barton's knee in Aguero's back was shameless. I hope he gets a lengthy ban. If I were Aguero I would have him charged with assault.

May 14, 201213 yr I thought they'd won a fight to keep them blue? They have it seems, owners have backed down. I imagine Wednesday will be top 6 next year, Blackburn won't do much, the other two that have gone might. I'd expect the losing play-off finalist to be in the top 6 again and I'd be shocked if Leicester don't improve to where they really should be.
May 14, 201213 yr What a good fan you are. Also its Dzeko. Any fan that left when it was 2-1 yesterday should be banned for life, but not before they've been put through a parade of shame infront of the rest of the Man City fans, I don't agree with leaving early at the best of times but that was an absolute disgrace.

With the fans giving up hope it's just as well the players didn't eh?
May 14, 201213 yr When Dundee United were getting beat 5-0 from Killmarnock, even I remained until the end. How disgraceful, especially when Man City have worked their asses off this season.
May 14, 201213 yr There really is no excuse for leaving a game early, especially if your team are winning or have a chance of getting something out of it. The only time I've ever left a football match early was watching England at Wembley, and it still took an hour to get on the tube!
May 14, 201213 yr Thought Carlos Tevez was an unbelievably massive wanker who couldn't be more disrepsectful to the world? Think again! http://media.zenfs.com/en/blogs/sptussowexperts/tevezrip.jpg
