May 14, 201213 yr Is this really what a Streaming + Sales top 100 Would look like? Crazy to see how big a difference it would make to Rita Ora.
May 14, 201213 yr Is this really what a Streaming + Sales top 100 Would look like? Crazy to see how big a difference it would make to Rita Ora. Well not really, because if they were to begin including streaming, they wouldn't go with a 50/50 split straight away, they'd gradually add it in I would think. Also there are big sales differences between songs (and probably streaming as well - we don't know how many times each song was streamed though), which can't be accounted for using a position:point system.
May 14, 201213 yr Author Yep, it isn't the most accurate chart I know :P but it's amazing how much of a difference streaming makes :o If they did combine streaming (which they're not doing anytime soon) I think Rita would be top 10 because of her 100k+ sales.
May 14, 201213 yr Aww. I wish it was this way. Niggas In Paris, Level Up and Climax would've still been top 40. :( In the US charts it makes a BIG difference. It basically boosts all the alternative songs up like 10 places for starters.
May 14, 201213 yr Well it has not made that big of a difference in the US. Sure, 'Midnight City' wouldn't had reached Hot 100 without streaming but it's been in top 20 in streams and yet hasn't climbed higher than #72 on Hot 100. Billboard increased the value of airplay in the expense of digital sales. Digital sales are now higher than ever so it was a good decision as selling 100k downloads/week means absolutely nothing these days and it's only natural that it doesn't mean much for Hot 100 either. May 14, 201213 yr The streming chart in the US would have a big impact on the overall chart, especially for some types of charts, but it just depends on how much Billboard make it contribute to the Hot 100. It boosts alternative and hip hop songs the most. Last week's streaming chart compared to iTunes now, with alternative songs: Gotye - Somebody That I Used to Know: #1 on streaming, #1 on iTunes fun. - We Are Young: #2 on streaming, #5 on iTunes Train - Drive By: #13 on streaming, #10 on iTunes fun. - Some Nights: #14 on streaming, #71 on iTunes M83 - Midnight City: #21 on streaming, not in the top 100 on iTunes Foster the People - Pumped Up Kicks: #25 on streaming, #94 on iTunes Coldplay - Paradise: #28 on streaming, #50 on iTunes Florence - Shake It Out: #40 on streaming, #84 on iTunes Gotye - Eyes Wide Open: #43 on streaming, not in the top 100 on iTunes Of Monster and Me - Little Talks: #48 on streaming, #80 on iTunes and hip hop songs: Drake - Take Care: #11 on streaming, #46 on iTunes Drake - The Motto: #12 on streaming, #37 on iTunes Tyga - Rack City: #15 on streaming, #75 on iTunes B.o.B - So Good: #18 on streaming, #35 on iTunes Snoop/Wiz - Young Wilde & Free: #19 on streaming, #61 on iTunes Tyga - Faded: #22 on streaming, #57 on iTunes Drake - HYFR: #23 on streaming, #76 on iTunes Jay-Z/Kanye - Niggas in Paris: #24 on streaming, not in the top 100 on iTunes Kanye West - Mercy: #30 on streaming, #21 on iTunes Drake - Make Me Proud: #39 on streaming, not in the top 100 on iTunes Drake - Headlines: #42 on streaming, not in the top 100 on iTunes Nicki Minaj - Beez in the Trap: #47 on streaimng, #53 on iTunes Big Sean - Dance: #50 on streaming, not in the top 100 on iTunes So every single alternative and hip hop song in the chart, apart from two (Mercy by Kanye and Drive By by Train) got boosted up the Hot 100 last week. And some of these are massive differences too (see: Niggas in Paris, Midnight City, etc.). On the other hand, Dance Again by Jennifer Lopez, which was released 6 weeks ago, and is currently #8 on iTunes, doesn't even appear on the chart. Part of Me by Katy Perry got to #1, but only peaked at #16 on the On-Demand chart, and so on. So it has a big effect on a lot of songs. It just depends on how big a share Billboard decides to give it to the overall Hot 100. But it must be a fairly large contribution, because of how Justin Bieber missed #1 with one of the highest digital sales of all time. Edited May 14, 201213 yr by Eric_Blob
May 15, 201213 yr It just depends on how big a share Billboard decides to give it to the overall Hot 100. But it must be a fairly large contribution, because of how Justin Bieber missed #1 with one of the highest digital sales of all time. Bieber missed #1 mostly because We Are Young sold incredibly well that week too and was way ahead of it in airplay. But yea, it does make a difference but if a song doesn't have at least a bit of all three (airplay, sales, streamings) it doesn't have a chance on Hot 100.
May 17, 201213 yr What do the plus numbers here mean, the amount of sales?(SORRY IF IM BEING SLOW HERE)
May 17, 201213 yr Author What do the plus numbers here mean, the amount of sales?(SORRY IF IM BEING SLOW HERE) Number of points. So if a song is #1 in both the sales and streaming chart it gets +200 points. Carly is #3 in sales and #1 in streaming giving her a total of +198 points. Hope it makes sense :D

May 21, 201213 yr Fans of The Saturdays will be eternally grateful that this chart isn't official. :kink:
May 21, 201213 yr It doesn't make a whole lot of sense because you're giving equal weight to the two charts, which is in my opinion quite rediculous
