Was hoping Garbage would get #01, thought they'd have it in the bag tbh
Engelbert not doing as well as I'd expected, although it will almost certainly peak after Eurovision. Ren doing incredibly well! :o
Any news on Gotye 'STIUTK' getting closer to joining the exclusive million sellers club? It's only a matter of time now before the track gets there. :D

It should pass that mark this week, probably on Saturday. However that's likely to be just on *total* sales, rather than just on 2012 ones - that'll be a week later.

05. The Saturdays - 30 Days (Comfortably ahead of #06 though) source Popjustice.
I really want them to get #6 on Sunday!
wonder if we will see Donna Summer in the top 40 today??

No Donna Summer in the chart, I would have thought that be pretty obvious, since her tracks were only added yesterday to iTunes.

Keane is #1 in the albums, update coming up.

Midweek Charts update: Keane now out in front

Source: MW

Friday May 18, 2012

By Paul Williams

Keane have nudged ahead of Tenacious D in a tight race to top Sunday’s UK artist albums chart as Rita Ora leads singles sales.

Having been ahead at the start of the week, Tenacius D’s newly-issued Columbia album Rize Of The Fenix is now in second place, according to the Official Charts Company, with Keane’s Island-issued Strangeland fewer than 1,000 sales ahead in first place. The Keane album debuted at one on last Sunday’s chart.

Also still in contention to top the chart is Emeli Sande’s Virgin album Our Version Of Events which is the week so far’s third biggest album and around 3,400 sales behind Keane by the close of business on Thursday.

Ren Harvieu’s first Island album Through The Night is showing up as a new entry at four at this point in the week, while Adele’s XL album 21 drops 4-5 and Garbage’s Not Your Kind Of People, which is released on their Stun Volume label, new at six.

The singles market is also pretty close with Columbia/Roc Nation’s Rita Ora featuring Tinie Tempah single R.I.P. around 6,000 sales out in front. It may well be overtaken on Sunday by Fun featuring Janelle Moae’s Atlantic/Fueled By Ramen single We Are Young, which is showing a 5-2 move on the midweeks and its sales down only a modest 5% on the week compared to 50% for R.I.P.

Carly Rae Jepsen’s Interscope/Polydor single Call Me Maybe holds at three and Island act Alex Clare remains fourth with Too Close, while the Saturdays lead three new entries among the Top 10 positions at this stage of the week with their Polydor single 30 Days new at five. Mercury’s D’Banj single Oliver Twist is new at nine and Polydor act Scissor Sisters new at 10 with Only The Horses.

Unlikely, I'd say...

If their sales are 5% down, they'll be selling only 50k this week, so 6-7k/day. Rita would need to be selling only half that in order for Fun to catch her, but per the iTunes pop.bars, she's actually selling 95% of Fun...

I'll be more than happy if Garbage maintain their top 10 position in the albums chart! Never thought they could manage that releasing the album independently with absolutely zero radio support and no promotion in the UK (other than a London concert in a small venue). The record does deserve it though, it's their best since 1998 IMO.

Erm, I'm pretty sure they were on iTunes all along, and her record company didn't go "Shit. She's dead. Let's sell something"

Wow Only the Horses doing so well! Don't mind if it misses top ten, top 15 is very good for them as they're well past their biggest commercial success.

Also, they have less support this time than with FWF.

Whatever happens on Sunday Rita Ora wont get more than 2 weeks at number one.

What a daring prediction. I hope you aren't embarrassed next Sunday! :o
