May 16, 201213 yr Author The album chart can be found on OCC site, the only problem I don't know what albums have climbed without last week positions. All sorted.
May 16, 201213 yr Good to see Rita Ora remaining at #1 – I hate one week number ones! I hope Emeli Sande’s My Kind of Love will be Top 20 come Sunday, as it is now Top 15 on iTunes, I believe! Hooray for Ben Howard one place behind the Top 10, must be Top 10 come Sunday! I hope Jack White and Nicki Minaj steady a bit, as we can’t have all #1’s plummeting this year! Surprised to see Madonna’s MDNA still Top 40 – I didn’t think that Girl Gone Wild would have had any effect!
May 16, 201213 yr Let's all forget for a few seconds that The Sats are #2 and cheer for D'banj going top 10 when I had my doubts about it. Also great to see that Make Peace Not War will outpeak Hold On as it's much better :D And another yes for Skrillex finally going top 40 with 'Bangarang'. I'm not happy that Ben Howard is about to get a top 40 hit, he is the even duller version of Ed Sheeran :drama: Ben is completely different to Ed though. Ben is more like Mumford than Sheeran. His work is more based on rustic beauty than Sheeran's naturalistic urban life theme.
May 16, 201213 yr Ben is completely different to Ed though. Ben is more like Mumford than Sheeran. His work is more based on rustic beauty than Sheeran's naturalistic urban life theme. I don't mean lyrics wise, it's just that they both have guitar based songs and the production is dull. I have heard 'Keep Your Head Up' 'The Wolves' and 'Only Love' many times on radio 1 and was never interested in him. I know it's an unpopular opinion but I don't like his songs at all. Difference is Ben is more folk than Ed but not as much as Mumford.
May 16, 201213 yr Well I was at the Saturdays signing in HMV Glasgow yesterday (they are all seriously gorgeous up close). And I was roughly half way up the queue, and we were given raffle tickets so no body could skip. and my friend and I were given 471 and 472. There was easily 1,000 people there. So they might have made their sales up yesterday. I was shocked how many people were they. Quite miffed actually as it took 2 1/2 hours of queuing. lol I was 465!!! :o Lol.
May 16, 201213 yr 01 Tenacious D 03 Ren Harvieu 05 Garbage 07 Beach House 15 Glee OH YES. Don't leave out the other newies :P 20 Morten Harket 25 Engelbert Humperdinck [Release Me TBO] 35 Gossip (!) 36 Santana -x- The rambly part: Wow at Tenacious D showing up at #1, I'm surprised they still have enough of a fanbase to manage it! Good for them though and this happens just 2 weeks after 'Tribute' made the top 100 for the first time. Tenacious D taking over. Keane still holding up at #2, good that they're not completely bombing then (Perfect Symmetry dropped to #6 in its second week and Night Train dropped to #7, this should have no problem staying #2 and could even climb back to #1 if Tenacious D are frontloaded and don't have much of a lead). Not too surprised to see Ren Harvieu coming in high, she's had quite a bit of radio support (from Radio 2 I guess) and was on the Sound of 2012 list and whatnot. She always seemed like an albums artist. A bit like Rumer but without the minor hit single. Garbage, like Tenacious D, surprise me with the size of their fanbase getting them a top 5 although I'd expect them to drop behind (who else) Adele and miss out by the end of the week. Absolutely fantastic to see Beach House in the top 10, I adore 'Myth'. They have absolutely no chance of holding on though. Glee only at #15 and probably likely to fall over the week will surely mean they'll sell even less than they did to enter at #58 with Volume 7! Of course they shouldn't be expected to sell as much as they did with a Q4 release though. No idea who this Morten Harket person/band/whatever is. EDIT: Oh, it's the singer from a-ha - sounded like some Finnish death metal band  I thought Engelbert would be a lot higher than #25 if he could manage a top 70 single, perhaps everyone who wants one already owns an Engelbert Humperdinck compilation :P He might climb over the week as albums by older artists often do. Massive flop for Gossip, their last album got to #18 so in this sales climate they should surely be at LEAST top 30. Ben Howard album back up to #11 so should hopefully re-peak pretty soon :D Good also to see Ed Sheeran back in the top 10 and Alex Clare and Labrinth reclimbing. Marina down to #28 so far, looks like this will only spend 3 weeks top 40 unless it can halt its descent. -x- On the singles chart, surprised to see The Sats holding on at #2 today, I think they could stay in the top 5 now - although I sort of hope they don't and fall to 6/7 so they're a step closer to a perfect set of top 10 peaks :P Good to see fun. back on the climb but shame it's at the expense of Alex Clare, I was hoping he would get to #2 this week. Shame to see D'banj falling a place from yesterday but I think he should have at least #9 fairly secure now. 'Only The Horses' sounds amazing in studio version, far better than the live version of The Voice  I'd love for it to stay top 10 but it's highly doubtful. On the upside that means it won't outpeak 'Fire With Fire' which remains by far their best. Brilliant climb for 'Express Yourself', a fifth top 20 hit should be in the bag this week. Really surprised at how well it's holding up. Could maybe go top 10? Ugh die etc. @ Rascal Flatts being #20, probably far too high for it to have any chance of dropping out :( Skepta at #23, unless he plummets on iTunes over the week it should become his second highest peaker then and it's almost certain to outpeak 'Hold On' :D Woo at Matrix & Futurebound currently registering a climb although I think they'll fall by Sunday. And finally YES at Ben Howard and Skrillex/Sirah sneaking into the top 40 :cheer: I didn't think 'Only Love' would even go top 100 let alone top 40 and 'Bangarang' looked like it had peaked ages ago but Radio 1 finally playlisting it has done wonders. Hopefully both of these will climb over the week and be joined in the top 40 by 'Princess Of China'. Professor Green's 'Remedy' will also likely go top 40 by the end of the week as it's nearly top 20 on iTunes now. Edited May 16, 201213 yr by Bré
May 16, 201213 yr The Saturdays are cursed to have good midweek positions and then fall a few positions on the actual chart. At least top 10 is guaranteed :) Top 5 would be a bonus.
May 16, 201213 yr Come on D'banj only 8 more places to go....... Your doing Nigeria and the rest of Africa proud.
May 16, 201213 yr Tenacious D number 1, my hunch is sales are low,id much rather see Keane stay at number 1. Also quiet surprised to see Madonna remaining top 40, if anything at least it shows girl gone wild may be a huge flop single but its helping the album.
May 16, 201213 yr Come on D'banj only 8 more places to go....... Your doing Nigeria and the rest of Africa proud. Pity the song is absolutely horrific
May 16, 201213 yr Excellent to see Ben Howard into the Top 40 singles chart and climbing on the albums. Also amazing to see Glee flopping !! :D
May 16, 201213 yr The D won't hold that lead, unfortunately. Keane for a second week although sales are going to be terrible.
May 16, 201213 yr I thought Garbage had enough of a fanbase for a bit of a better debut, was hoping they could've opened top 3 actually :( Top 5 is good I suppose although sales are abysmal. Nice to see this Glee album doing better, although sales are so awful that in reality it's probably not doing too much better than Volume 7 (which peaked at something awful like #58 iirc?) - again because of sales.
May 16, 201213 yr The Saturdays being at #2 must partially be due to their EP going straight at #1 on the iTunes album chart. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't the cherrypicked sales of the B-Side song on the EP counted towards 30 Days as well? If so, that could've helped a bit too. Nevertheless, kind of disappointed they aren't getting a #1 this time again (even if I'm not too overly fond of the song as it reminds me of All Fired Up which was much better). I begin to wonder if they will ever have a #1 at all :o
May 16, 201213 yr don't the cherrypicked sales of the B-Side song on the EP counted towards 30 Days as well? No. 'Turn Myself In' is not '30 Days', so sales of it do not count towards '30 Days'. Pretty simple.
May 16, 201213 yr Any news on Gotye 'STIUTK' getting closer to joining the exclusive million sellers club? It's only a matter of time now before the track gets there. :D
