Glad to hear that Euphoria is growing on you, I can't quite believe that it's set to be SO big in the UK :o I hope you do purchase the song and help it on its way. I prefer Euphoria to Satellite, which is amazing because I never thought I'd find a Eurovision song that I liked more than that!

 

I agree about Engelbert, it's a lovely melodic song with a classic sound but way too dated for Eurovision.

 

I seem to like anything associated with Gary Barlow/Take That/Military Wives so I guess I was always going to like Sing :lol: Would still prefer to see Loreen at UK #1 over it though naturally.

 

It might not be the end of the road for Cheryl, Eurovision's keeping it down a bit indeed and #13 doesn't really reflect how much I like it.

If it seems to slip a bit, then I might download it! I've also sent an email to the Radio 1 peeps to help the cause :P "Fairytale", "Satellite" and "Euphoria" really are an amazing trio of Eurovision winners; it's a shame about Ell & Nikki - I did enjoy the song, but as there was nothing spectacular, it seemed a bit default (especially beating the placing of my "Drip Drop" from 2010 :cry:)

 

I despised the Military Wives' début single, and never bothered listening to the rest of the album, but I think their part of "Sing" is genuinely quite emotional. It would be a nice #1, but maybe in two weeks' time (or just on the album chart).

*Compact Disco - Sound Of Our Hearts - I love the studio version of this now, but all their live performances seem filled with desperation and really aren't that good, I guess we always knew they were going to flop though.

*Owl City - Shooting Star - This feels like he's going in a bit too much of a rocky direction to what I would have liked, but it's good nevertheless. Have you heard his collaboration with Mark Hoppus of blink-182 on the same EP (Dementia)? That's by far my favourite of his output this year.

Sofi Marinova - Love Unlimited - Argh, so close to getting a Inna-ballad in the final! :(

Zeljko Joksimovic - Nije Ljubav Stvar - Impressed with this even more than I was originally now. I had to laugh every time Graham Norton said it was the big surprise of the results, it was obviously nowhere near that.

Thanks Tom, safe to say Loreen went through :P Engelbert gave a great performance, I guess it was destined to fail :( Yeah, Zaleilah didn't work as well live as I'd hoped, it lacked quite a bit of energy that's in the studio version. Oh cool, Sing's a really strong song imo! As for Nina, I sort of guessed that Italy were being overhyped, but I still like the song a lot.

 

Well yes, and she went all the way. I'm not going to lie, I had my doubts. It's really obvious now, Engelbert was the wrong artist and LWSYF was the wrong song :( That's true I'm afraid, Elena couldn't really do the dance routine and sing at the same time, nor could the boys with their instruments, so to speak :kink: Yeah, gorgeous melody, I'm not sure about the lyrics though. I didn't tbh, I hope they are happy enough with the reults to stay in :/

When the UK only gave 10 to Ireland I practically exploded. And now the iTunes success, I never dared to dream this would all happen! PRAYING radio get behind it, I need Loreen to become a worldwide superstar now.

3. Mandinga - Zaleilah (2) (CR-35-8-6-5-8-11-15-17-OUT-2-3) ASI ASI! (My favourite bit of the perf, oddly such a non-event on the studio version) Really has grown on me exponentially, such a fun song, I love the synchronised dance move

5. Timoteij - Bara För En Natt (19) (CR-19-5) Has quickly become my easy highlight on the album, just so gorgeous in the sunshine!

 

*Eleftheria Eleftheriou - Aphrodisiac I became totally obsessed with this during the week, took me by complete surprise - that ethnopop gene working its magic once again :drama: The perf seemed so cheap and cheerful though :lol:

*Emma Louise - Boy Came across this a week ago, what a lovely, calming track

*Will Young - I Just Want A Lover Delighted this has been made a single, Runaway aside its my highlight on the album

I haven't bothered e-mailing them, it may seem like OTT pestering and they'll ignore it out of spite or something, I agree about that trio of winners, all #1's in my chart, Ell & Nikki had a #16 SMASH for me :lol: 2011 was quite weak in terms of commerical highlights although I'm surprised that Popular wasn't a bigger hit...

Thanks Eyes, that's a great trio of highlights you picked from the Timoteij album, it's just fantastic all round though! Yeah, not sure what happened to Denmark, I guess they've sent one MOR entry too many now. Gutted at how badly Iceland performed too but I guess it was all a bit 'heard it all before at Eurovision' for a lot of people. I do like this Owl City star, but the EP definitely feels a bit 'sell-out' to my ears, which he's never been in the past. Yeah, Zelkjo's song is a real grower, no idea why Graham Norton though it wouldn't do well based on his past form in the contest...

I'm so glad that she did, I literally never doubted her :o I'm sure Italy will be happy enough with 9th, Nina's performance got a bit lost in the middle of the pack I think. It was strong but the song never felt like a winner to me, I don't think I've seen it doing well in any iTunes chart either :o Likewise Zaleilah which is a double :o

1. It was insane wasn't it, I was so pleased - the UK votes were especially amazing because I just assumed it was going straight to Jedward. After Scott had dished out 10 to them I was confident that we'd done the right thing for once! The iTunes success is AMAZING, I doubt radio will get behind it because this is the UK but it will at least be an official top ten hit, one of the best ever!

3. It is good, I'm gutted it missed the top ten but then the performance wasn't quite as strong as I'd expected and if you were going to vote for a dance song, why look any further than Euphoria!

5. It is, the production is Ace of Base-lite heaven :wub:

 

Aphrodisiac is a nice little pop song but I'm glad it missed the top ten, they might put more effort in next year, if they can afford it! Yeah Boy and I Just Want A Lover are both great although perhaps not great enough for my top 20...

2. Engelbert Humperdinck - Love Will Set You Free (4) (CR-3-3-5-10-10-11-14-10-4-2) 25th, Oops! :lol: I'm not overly surprised really as it's not the most instant of songs. The inevitable "withdrawal" calls from the media are ridiculous though, I mean how is Europe expected to like a song that only just managed to scrape into the top 70 in the country it's representing?!

10. Timoteij - Tabu (14) (CR-14-10) Got the album yesterday but haven't had chance to listen to it! Looking forward to though. Tabu is their weakest single to date for me however sadly :(
