June 1, 201213 yr The problem with Cowell is that he's proved time and time again that the UK will buy whatever he tells them too. Almost "Demon Headmaster"-esque abilities to inflict viruses such as Joe McElderry 'The Climb' and Leon Jackson 'When You Believe' onto the UK public knowing they will buy it ('cos dey r stoopid innit?) When you bring every other country into the equation, the proposition of getting the Cowell involved would be as embarrassing as Pete Waterman in 2010. Only Cowell would provide a cliched ballad that was left off an old Boyzone/Westlife album from 1999/2000. Do we really want the UK to be represented by this next year? At least in the case of Leona Lewis, Cowell somehow managed to get a really quirky pop track in 'Bleeding Love'. The fact Leona has struggled to have any more massive hits since ('Run' was a cover therefore can't be counted) again proves why the Cowell shouldn't get involved. It's either Hurts for Eurovision 2013, or flopsville for the UK. The BBC will no doubt make the right decision.
June 1, 201213 yr Simon would at least be something a bit different from the BBC selection, who haven't really been on top form these last few years, I'm not his biggest fan, but when he gets it right, he can really get a hit. (One Direction, Alexandra Burke & Leona Lewis had pretty strong debuts, also Labrinth is on his record label) but when he gets it wrong, he gets it very wrong (basically all the unfortunate male XF winners), so its touch and go really, but I guess he can't be any worse than Pete Waterman...
June 1, 201213 yr Brilliant news. The BBC should really take advantage of this. Simon would know how to promote the song and make it actually OK to like. I really hope he manages to get a genuine hit from us, sent to Eurovision next year.
