Notts Forest have sacked their manager Sean O'Driscoll after a 4-2 win over Leeds. Ridiculous. I hate to be slightly xenophobic, just a large majority of these foreign owners just have no idea whatsoever.

'Ambitious manager with Premier League experience' Mark Hughes/Alex McLeish it is :D

Absolutely fucking gutted. Ridiculous. They had everyone convinced that they hadn't bought Forest to be a toy, everything had been sensible, but now he's moved the goalposts and wants promotion this season and then he does this. Kind of seen it coming as we'd been poor in recent weeks (4 points from 5) but doing it after our best performance of the season (save from maybe Cardiff) just makes him look like a massive fucking idiot. So pissed off right now. Fuck it, be a football fan rather than a Forest fan.

I don't have massive knowledge of the Championship but I don't think you're strong enough to go up this season. Probably the turn of Cardiff (after how many years of trying..) and two others. I just don't think it is right after a result like you had today. The thing is O'Driscoll can practically walk in to any job in the football league. I'd be mightily pissed off if they hired Roy Keane. He has failed as a football manager how many times. At least with the other two I posted they have some redeeming features...

Forest are nowhere near good enough to go up. They came in, started talking about the long-term and stability and that promotion is a target for the next three years, they spend a reasonable amount of money from a base of absolutely sod all, which gives us a decent squad, but one lacking balance (not natural width, very little pace) and that's been thrown together in a hurry. We're one game over halfway and are a point outside the play-offs. That was the target, but now he's moved the goalposts. It has to be promotion this year. You look at the teams at the top, Cardiff have been building under Mackay last season too and have spent a lot, Boro have been going great but it's been a steady process under Mowbray, gradual improvements to challenge when the time is right. Leicester threw money at it and it didn't work, now they're being far more sensible under Pearson. Bruce has taken over a decent team at Hull and not changed much. O'Driscoll took over the worst squad in the championship, completely decimated in the summer with almost everyone half decent leaving, and made us solid. It's completely unrealistic and I don't see that a new manager would do better than O'Driscoll could've done. He was perfect for the long-term but now they don't want it. Will bite them on the arse eventually, always does. Look at Villa, QPR, Pompey, Leicester. Only doesn't effect Chelsea and Man City because their owners are SO rich they can afford for it not to matter.

He'd done a great job too, yes we were inconsistent and yes he did sometimes worry too much about the strength of the oppositon, but we've been unlucky with injuries. We signed Hutchinson who played two games, Lansbury hasn't been properly fit yet, Cox gets injured often, Jenas is the most pointless signing since I can't remember, Majewski did his ankle and it was clear O'Driscoll saw him as a key player, Ayala is a sicknote. We've not been able to put out a settled team or settled back four, and yet we're still in a great position. O'Driscoll will get a decent job piss easy now.

Usually when Forest are managerless I have a huge list of people who are contenders and decide how much I want them. At the moment I couldn't care whether they employed Pep Guardiola or David Platt.

 at Forest!! Just a couple of points away from the play-offs and they sack their manager? I've read rumours to do with money troubles or something there, but I don't know if that's a reason behind it and it's probably false anyway. It's a shame for Forest that O'Driscoll has gone though, he seemed to be getting things together there.

Well, I believe Paul Jewell is available! Seriously though, Roy Keane was spotted at the City Ground today - I wonder if he's being lined up?

I don't think there's money troubles, there's been some stuff in the papers that was overblown and down to stupidity (players were paid hours late, club credit card refused because they read the number out wrong) but they bring in a player whenever we need one (Ward and Hutton came in as soon as Ayala/Halford got injured) and they've just spent a million quid on installing electronic advertising hoardings and two big screens at either end of the ground, so if they do have financial problems they're hiding it well, but maybe they are speculating to accumulate and going for a quick profit by selling a Premier League club, who knows with owners nowadays?!
Ah, they are the sort of things I've read so at least that's not an issue, as much as I might like it to be! :kink: We've had new electronic ad boards and scoreboard installed recently too at Derby!

Blackburn have sacked their manager, Henning Berg after just 57 days in charge. Blackburn had won only 1 of their 10 matches since his appointment.

Who would want to manage Blackburn?

Most managers. A definite quick payday. I never thought Steve Kean was a good manager, but their squad is pretty diabolical.

Another managerial merry go round, what great timing on Forest's part.

Anyway Carlisle have had a dominant performance at home, hope this means that confidence in performances can return as well as Lee Miller.

Oh I'd be laughing if I was a Derby fan. I'd kill for your stability. Nigel gets a lot of abuse (some of it deserved) but he's done a decent job there, as much as it pains be to admit it it's a decent role model club. When Forest play Derby soon it'll be five different managers in five games that Clough has faced. Utterly bonkers!

Surprised even myself that I was right!

What a totally absurd, and terrible appointment. I can understand the logic if he is a short term fix as he has little philosophy expect making your team null of any flair and making you hard to beat which could work very well for you.

It's utterly dire. You replace in a position of strength if there's someone better come available (Simon Grayson for Lee Clark worked well last year), I just don't see how this is any improvement. With O'Driscoll we had a philosophy, a long-term future. With McLeish???! Why not just go for him in the summer and save all the false hope!

Battle of the two biggest dickheads on football - Alan Pardew and Alex Ferguson. Whose winning the war of words? :D
Ferguson has gone too far with this, were it anyone else I'd say we were watching the start of a mental breakdown.

Think they're both as bad as each other, but Fergie's just being a massive hypocrite with this. Got to wonder why there's nothing in the referee report... people in football are so scared of him.

I'm going to Fulham today to see the Swansea vs Fulham match, so that should be exciting! :D

the bristol city incident was a strange one yesterday. when tomlin hit cunningham, it was a case of why did he do it? :nono:

typical ferguson sides too, when we were winning, they result to dirty tactics to try and get a result. :nono:

that gayle lad of theirs had something special though, maybe a premier league player for the future.

Not really anywhere to put this, but just seen this on UniLAD on Facebook, and I'm massively amused by it:
