September 2, 201212 yr I think I'm as pleased with how our squad looks as the result today. Carroll is very much a one-trick pony but if it works against Hangeland it'll work against most, and we look to have a decent reserve for pretty much every position.
September 2, 201212 yr If you're going to have Big Sam as manager it only makes sense to have the best players for that system. There's no doubt that Andy Carroll is just that. Delighted with Forest so far, we're absolutely immense. Beautiful to watch. After the last few years it's a privilege to watch a team managed by Sean O'Driscoll. Definite promotion contenders.
September 2, 201212 yr do west ham fans realise they bought crippled nicky maynard from us and gave us sam baldock at a fraction of his price? lol cardiff are gonna get a shock when they see all the injections he needs just to play and then bandages etc all on that knee. your welcome to him baldock will probably score 15-20 where as ill be surprised if dodgy nicky will get 10.

September 2, 201212 yr Didn't expect much from yesterday's game, MK Dons are one of the contenders for the promotion/play off pack. One big surprise is that they managed to keep 11 men on the pitch.
September 2, 201212 yr We played awfully against Swansea and still drew. Yay. Steven "OMG Y U OVERPAY 4 HIM HE NOT WORF £10M!!!!!11" Fletcher's goals were quality, especially the first. A few more like that please, Steve, to shut the idiots up :D

September 3, 201212 yr Basically I'm jealous of every team that has a goalscorer. It's got to a point where I'm even jealous of Southampton and Ricky Lambert :( Liverpool = pass pass pass. Suarez or Gerrard lose posession = opposition score
September 3, 201212 yr I can't believe LFC fans are calling for Rodgers' head already. It's been THREE GAMES. THREE. Transition isn't going to happen overnight. I would be especially more worried about the owners to be honest, given their stance on transfers they've released today and the fact you have no strikers. (Suarez has had 172 shots in his Liverpool career and 16 goals, not particularly amazing for a "world class" striker) Anyway, I divert from my main point: HE SCORES WHEN HE WANTS, ROBIN VAN PERSIE, HE SCORES WHEN HE WANTS. I know how it feels to lose a quality player to your bitter rivals and watch him become their best player, but I am still reveling in this.
September 3, 201212 yr It's not Rodgers fault at all. He was told that we'd be getting in a forward on deadline day and then the owners refused to pay a few extra million for Dempsey because they felt he was too old Our midfield and defence are good, but our forward line and goalkeeper are poor. It's got to a point where I'm scared we'll concede a goal everytime a team takes a shot. Reina has been very poor for the last 18 months or so and Suarez Borini Sterling Assaidi won't get us the goals
September 3, 201212 yr His first goal yesterday was class! Superb bit of technique. I'm Print Screening that, a rare example of Roo praising a Sunderland player :P But yeah, I can't see Liverpool finishing in the top 6, possibly not even in the top 8 because there are at least that many teams i'd say are stronger than them. Then you've got Newcastle who can get away with having a team of pretty average players, supplemented by a few quality ones who can find goals out of nothing even when they're playing poorly (yesterday against Villa is an example). Mind, I will say the Geordies are in the brown stuff if Ben Arfa or a couple of others pick up injuries, their backup players are poor (not that ours are anything special, but hey-ho).

I know how it feels to lose a quality player to your bitter rivals and watch him become their best player, but I am still reveling in this. Exactly. It's modern day football fans, a few bad results against good teams and the daggers are out. We're trying to play a possession based football game, the only way you really can be a successful team these days (as in winning trophies). Can the players play the system? Yes. Can they play it well? No. Its why Allen was such a key signing, he knows how to play the system. These things take time. Chelsea only have two strikers aswell. We've played three tough games yet alarm bells are ringing, I despair I really do. We will finish in the top 6, that I am sure of. Newcastle won't finish above us this season, and Everton certainly won't. Who knows how Spurs will do, but replaced Modric and VDV with Dembele and Siggy.. a serious downgrade on both imo. That said no Liverpool fan should expect us to be Top 4 this season. It could happen, but too many mistakes were made last summer, which will take at least another year to get right. Beaten by a good Arsenal side (and we weren't even THAT bad), and alarm bells ringing by everyone. A striker yesterday would not have solved our problem of being beaten by a better team so I don't know what everyone is moaning about. Arsenal started horrendous last season and look how they did.
September 3, 201212 yr I wouldn't be that sure of Everton not finishing above Liverpool again. This is probably both the strongest and biggest Everton squad I've known and certainly in terms of depth, possibly the weakest at Liverpool. I predicted them to finish 6th pre-season with Liverpool 5th, I still think it'll be those two occupying those two positions but both will be significantly off the top 4. I said quite a bit last season that I think Moyes is overrated but the business Everton have done in the transfer window has been absolutely superb. In terms of value and quality I think them and Swansea are leagues ahead of everyone else.

Everton will do ok, but we won't draw as many games as last season. We'll win more and lose more. Our first XI is very good, but our squad is weak. Past the 18 we're down to youth players. Don't get me wrong I think we have some very good youth players, but they're not all ready even for a fleeting appearance for the first team yet.
September 3, 201212 yr Pardew's two match ban is a joke. One match would've done, but as both a Sunderland supporter and as somebody who wouldn't piss on the man if he was on fire i've got to laugh  The awful, horrible, greasy, smarmy, smug, overrated, backhanded, sly, ridiculous, snake of a man. Can't wait til the wind changes direction or the day of the week doesn't have an S in it and the fickle "Geordie Nation" turns on him, we'll finally see the return of the hilarious "COCKNEY MAFFIA OUT" banners. Joke of a club.
September 18, 201212 yr What Everton didn't know is that He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother had a particular significance for Margaret Aspinall, one of the leading members of the campaign group and who was shown a couple times in that clip. It was the last single her 18-year-old son John bought for her before he became one of the 96 victims.
