'I Love It' is hardly an 'obvious' winner. And so what if it does win? Nobody really cared about 'Sober' and that was probably the most obvious winner of all time.

Preach sistah!!!

Given you've barely had much time for anything these days (and I don't mean that in an attacking way by the way - I've been bloody busy as well lately), I don't exactly think you've got your finger on the Scandipulse entirely Phil! I mean it says a lot when you let stuff like Melodifestivalen, Eurovision semis and a BJSC contest slip behind in your priorities!

Tell me about it! I take it your life isn't looking like it's about to slow down any time soon either? Shits just gone mental.

I watched the ESC semi's! Just not live :( It's why I've trumped for Trasig. I've known about it since it was released but I haven't had time to hunt for anything else recently.

Did we have the vetoing system back in XXXVIII? I guess that we couldn't have forseen that Loreen would be the biggest Scandipop star IN THE WORLD right now but I'm surprised we didn't discuss vetoing Sober.

Tomorrow's due to be my first free day in AGES.

Free day. Oh how I wish. I moved home so even my days off are filled with lists upon lists of shit to do. :manson:

We did, and I wanted to axe it iirc. It's still shit.

The difference being that Sober wasn't backed by every pretty much every major indie-pop blog in the month preceding, just the Scandi specialist ones. It would've been equivalent to vetoing Sheelah on both of their appearances.
Aside, am I the only one finding it slightly disconcerting that in the last hour alone Tom and Phil's opinion of a track has been directly intermingled with discussion over whether they considered vetoing it? I do hope personal opinion of a track isn't at all affecting decisions here, given that's not actually the point of the veto.
I'd say the main reason there wasn't any hype for it in the thread would be because anybody who'd considered it would've thought it an instant veto!

This is so true.

How on earth it made it through is beyond me. I actually thought about posting "Alright which numpty is gonna confirm I Love It?" but I never got round to it.

Cheapest entry for me since Adele.

Let's not bring up this whole issue of the vetoing system, I'm sure they analysed the track on it's own merit and not on what their personal opinion of it?
Not only has I Love It featured in just about every indie blog but it even got Best New Track status on Pitchfork. It has more than a whiff of hype about it. (And I do like it!)

Just caught up, I appear to be in the pop semi! Thank God. WHY didn't I think to send Florrie?! So obvious looking back. I'm so dumb. A bit surprised to see Faye vetoed! Didn't really care either way but I feel sorry for Pav I guess. The semi recaps are a great idea! Must listen to those.

EDIT: Wow so many short sentences in that post.

What is Pitchfork? I didn't really think it was that much of an indie track to be honest, I found it on Scandipop like quite of the few of the entries come from. It's only from talking to Eyes recently that I discovered it had quite a bit of hype behind it, and that was after I had confirm the entry I think.

The song I wanted to change to is in my semi final. :D Chances are that will get my 12 points depending on what the other tracks are like. *.*

No but you probably don't read many indie blogs do you especially if you don't know what pitchfork is.

You shouldn't WANT to be obvious!

Which is how I imagined they did it, but why I found it slightly worrying that two different mods in a discussion about vetos related their opinions of a track almost directly to whether or not they were in favour of vetoing it (albeit for different reasons - Tom thinking something didn't need vetoing because it was bad, Phil thinking something did). I'm not saying that it necessarily does mean they're doing it, just that it seems a little strange that they'd mention their opinions of a track when discussing whether or not they should've vetoed it.
