Like I said, I don't doubt that they are working hard, but it doesn't show in their material or to people who listen to Sats music and are not Buzzjack stans...

You can't really link The Sats 'hard work' with music outcome. It's the producers and writers who have the responsibility to the label(s) to make something decent and worth listening to. If the label stick a track on an LP that is pretty shit, it is them who do not care and it is them who are not working hard enough to make sure these girls are given worthy material.

Also at the same time, I don't see why a non-fan of any artist would (for example) switch radio stations because they think "this track doesn't sound like they don't work much".

Wow, you guys are so hard to please, i've started to avoid the thread, because for once things seem to be going okay/good and it's good to be a fan (for once) yet people just complain over the slightest thing. Stop complaining and praise how hard there working at the moment.

Well, speaking for myself, I would consider what I've written to be light criticism, rather than complaining! This thread has been overwhelmingly positive so far, and I personally find it's all a bit premature... I fear fans are setting themselves up for a fall by being so over-excited & elated at this stage. It's still really early days!

In terms of America: If they eventually appear on some top-rated shows and their single shows really positive signs of doing well, that'll be the moment I will be excited for their prospects over there. For me, a couple of club appearances is just nice, but not indicative of success, yet.

In terms of the UK: After all these years, I'm just going to wait and see what happens, but my only point in my previous post was that if they can't attain higher profile promotion, then their next single will probably do the same as any of their singles do really.

I'm personally not displeased with The Saturdays themselves. I'm excited for a new single, and I always wish them the best with all that they're doing. ^_^

OK GUYS LET'S GET BACK TO THE BLIND OPTIMISM GAWD.

OMACTUALG I just watched one of their random performance videos again and isn't that choreography mildly good?!?!!?!?!?!?! YES, IT IS (before any of you negative nancies come in )

SO HAPPY TO BE A SATS FAN RN TBH.

You should keep this optimism for the flop of Ellie Goulding.

I'll worry about Ellie's flop if it actually happens ^_^ But again, stop going off topic Lee  This is the forum for The Saturdays, not Ellie Goulding :)

Poor girls. I mean, they won't ever get the X-Factor because every past contestants has pretty much a performance settled for them (and God knows how they are many of them right now...) Plus the judges (well, Nicole and Tulisa for sure). Plus Capital acts that Syco get on the show so their acts can get good Capital FM airplay (there's quite a lot of them). And I guess there's ...what...2 slots left in the end for the girls ? But hey, it might surprise some of us, but they aren't the only artists in the UK and there's people who are bigger than them who would most likely get the slot.

How are The Saturdays supposed to fit in ? You know sometimes there's just no place for the girls.

Anyway, I don't even know why we're talking about promotion since the release is in January and there's not really any "high-profile TV-show" around that time. So people should hope they get more than decent airplay. And let's talk about promotion when their next single is released.

Interesting article about The Saturdays and their american plans. It's pretty confusing, tho. What About Us as the US first single might not happen anymore (the UK still got it) and the TV-show is apparently not "definitely" happening...which is weird because they have been filmed for the past month... Maybe E! is waiting to see if they are going to be a success... Could make sense.

Maybe E! is waiting to see if they are going to be a success... Could make sense.

You don't spend money recording an entire season just to wait if the act gets a boost on their popularity somehow. They've been that criptic because E! doesn't want it to be official yet, maybe because the premiere date is too far away. But they liked the pilot and ordered a full season, so there's no turning back on that.

Can someone post the article in here, it don't wanna load for me.

Here you go... :)

The Saturdays Ink U.S. Album Deal, Plot Reality Show

British Pop Group to Release Single in Early 2013; Working With Diane Warren & Rodney 'Darkchild' Jerkins on Full Length

Last week one of England's top girl groups, The Saturdays, walked the red carpet at the MTV VMAs, performed at a Perez Hilton party, then held a performance and signing event in New York a few days later. They topped off their busy week with an acoustic set at Island Def Jam headquarters -- exciting events for any artist, but particularly one that has yet to release any music in America. Now the popular pop quintet have set their sights on the U.S. and spilled all the details about their plans to Billboard at afternoon tea (though no one ordered tea).

"We were so afraid. We didn't want to leave England," explains member Frankie Sanford. "Nowadays, luckily, [English]people are a lot more open to their favorite acts going to America. It used to be a little bit like, 'They're leaving us! They're going to the U.S. and they're never coming back!' People seem a little more accepting of that now."

"We feel like the time is now for pop music coming from the U.K. and Ireland," says Una Healy, the group member who just gave birth to a daughter six months ago. "But there's never been a girl band coming from there since The Spice Girls. It's time for us."

And if recent British breakout stars like Adele, One Direction, The Wanted, Ellie Goulding, and Cher Lloyd, who have thrived on the charts in both territories, are any indication it very well may be their time.

The Saturdays have inked a deal with Island Def Jam and Mercury Records for a U.S. album led by a still undecided single coming in January 2013. Until then, the girls will release their newest single "What About Us" (performed at both their U.S. gigs last week as it may be their debut track) in the U.K. with a version that will feature pop-reggae royalty Sean Paul.

The girls have already had loads of successful singles back home -- eleven Top 10 hits so far. The disc is set to feature production from Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins and songwriting from Diane Warren. As the girls shout almost all together, "We're not messing around!"

"We've been together a long time now, five years. We're just starting fresh here. That's what its about," adds Healy. "We've always wanted to come out here and go to different territories. We really feel ready now."

Adds Mollie King, the group's Baby Spice (with her blonde hair), "We've done three tours actually [in the U.K.]. Once we did an arena tour we thought, 'Right. We're cemented here at home. Let's try to conquer the world starting off with America!'" ("Just starting off small!" Sandford adds with a laugh).

To help introduce America to The Saturdays, the girls are looking into reality show options. "We were meeting with networks and pitching ideas that this was a big journey for us, we want it to be documented," says the newlywed Rochelle Humes, who married another pop British bandmember, Marvin Humes, of JLS. "At the minute, we're here just to record an album and shoot the music video for the single. We haven't agreed to anything just yet, but it's an idea that will probably happen." Adds Healy, "It's definitely in the cards."

So what should fans expect sonically from the album? The answer is tricky given their range of sounds with past singles from the new wave, 80s-inspired "If This Is Love," rock-pop angst on "Forever Is Over," electronic ballad "Missing," "You," and the showering synths on "All Fired Up." (Some past material may end up on the American album too.)

"I kind of feel like that's why we're pop music and that's why its fun to be pop because we can try different genres," says the group's tiny powerhouse vocalist Vanessa White. "We're all so different anyway and have such different tastes in music so when we do a different genre of song it feels at least natural."

Another natural quality for the act is their friendship. "We feel like we're the type of girl band where we love The Spice Girls, we love the Pussycat Dolls," continues White. "But what we really want to get out to the fans is that we all really get on and its all about friendship. We want people to be our friends...we're not going to steal your boyfriends!" Adds Humes with her hot chocolate, "We're not those girls!"

Who said they liked it ? More, ordered a full season ? As far as we know, it was Rochelle (who says a lot of things that are untrue) that they filmed a pilot in the UK... But that's pretty much it. Everyone assumes they were filming a TV-show, but we never had an official statement. The girls said they haven't agreed to anything yet. It's not like they weren't aloud to speak about it, they just did.

I remember an article about how that TV-show would be different than their previous one. It was meant to be a lot more focuses on their privacy. Apparently, E! wanted to film everything happening in their private and individual lifes and I could understand why the girls haven't agreed to that yet.

And it wouldn't be the first time a show is turned back. Plenty of pilots don't air on TV because the episodes/series weren't picked up. I'm not saying the TV-show is not happening. The girls talked about it, said it's "in the cards" and all..I'm just saying it's not 100% confirmed as the girls themselves said they haven't agreed to anything yet.

Some interesting things the girls said there. I'm not sure how old the content for that article is though.

^ He interviewed them last week. Last Friday (14th) to be exact. He met them in New York, the day they flew back home.

Gaaah, going off on a tangent here but it's sad seeing negative comments about the girls anywhere haha. I try to ignore them but it's pathetic how much what they say bothers me lol. It seems some people suddenly have mystic powers and can see the future when they start sounding off how they're going to be huge flops in the US, it'll be embarrassing for them, questioning why they're even bothering and so on etc.

Island Def Jam/Mercury are under the Universal Records umbrella aren't they? Or are they seperate?

Aha thanks for that.

I'm pretty sure the US is going to get What About Us as well as the UK. + I'm pretty sure the tv deal is all legit.

Apparently the remixes of What About Us have leaked. They also seem to be on some music blog sites and fansites but I can't click to play them, the space where the music player should be is just a white rectangular space instead. Boo. :(

Yeah that's the website where I tried to listen to them, but there's just white gaps seperated between each remix title. Is that the same for anyone else?

Edited by Encore

I've found a youtube link for the Buzz Junkies remix. It is f*****g amazing. :D

The best is obviously the one produced by OLMRemix, but no surprise here. I don't know if he would want to answer questions now that his has leaked like months before...but I really need to ask a few things. I thought the song was a bit moody/dark and all ? It actually sounds quite lighty and all and you said it wasn't ? Not that it is a problem, but maybe it's just your remix afterall.

The melody is great. I love it... I'm just sad that the vocals are completely overproduced.
