Robbie Williams' Savile quip stuns star studded audience

LAUREN TURNER – 13 MAY 2013

POP star Robbie Williams was greeted with shocked laughter tonight when he made a joke about the police operation launched in the wake of the Jimmy Savile scandal.

The Take That singer made the quip to a room full of celebrities and radio industry insiders at the Sony Awards ceremony, held at the Grosvenor House hotel in central London.

Speaking to the audience before he played a short set at the start of this year's awards, Williams said he had not recognised anyone's names other than his own as he looked at the table plan for the event.

He then added: "Looking from up here, it looks like the stars of Operation Yewtree 2014. Too soon? Too soon."

Williams had been introduced by awards host Chris Evans' four-year-old son Noah, who was attending the event in his pyjamas and described the singer as his "favourite".

The Rock DJ singer said hello to the little boy - but added that the youngster's presence meant he couldn't make any of the jokes he had been intending to tell.

Williams couldn't resist making comments about his most recent hit Candy failing to make the Radio 1 playlist but also made jokes at his own expense - describing himself as "fat and old".

He also said there were tickets left for his forthcoming tour, adding: "That didn't used to happen."

The Saturdays - minus pregnant singer Rochelle Humes who is "about to pop" according to bandmate Frankie Sandford - also performed at the event.

30th May 2013, 10:53

The 'Candy' singer and his tour support act Olly may be planning a team-up together.

Olly Murs has teased that he and Robbie Williams may record a collaboration together sometime soon.

The 'Heart Skips A Beat' singer says he was very impressed by Robbie's team-up with Dizzee Rascal on their new song 'Goin' Crazy' , and would love to lay down a track with the 'Candy' singer if the opportunity comes up.

"We were talking about writing a song together after I said I thought his BRITs track was great," Olly revealed to the Daily Star this week. "We might do something for a laugh just to put online.

"I think what he's done with Dizzee Rascal is brilliant - he's getting bling!" Olly explained.

The UK singer-songwriter is set to join Robbie as his support act on the road next month, as part of Robbie Williams' UK stadium tour, and Olly has been teasing what fans can expect.

"I saw Robbie on Tuesday and he didn't give much away but just said it's going to be big, massive and huge," Olly added."He wants to show people he's the real real.

"If that Take That and Knebworth shows are anything to go by, it's going to be special."

Olly Murs joins Robbie Williams out on the road next month and both artists will perform live at the Capital FM Summertime Ball next weekend on 9th June at Wembley Stadium.

Robbie Williams has got some friends in high places, with the singer spotted dining out with his good mates Sarah 'Fergie' Ferguson and her daughters Princess Beatrice and Eugenie last night.

The four - along with Robbie's wife Ayda Field - enjoyed a cosy dinner in west London on Friday. Robbie and the Duchess of York first became friends when they met on holiday in the Caribbean back in January 2011.

Since then Sarah's daughter Beatrice has reportedly grown to be good friends with Robbie and Ayda, with the princess even visiting the couple's LA home.

Last night's outing saw the group dine out in the capital with Robbie donning a daring suede jacket and matching blue shoes. Ayda was dressed down in comparison, sporting a hat, biker jacket and jeans.

11 June 2013

Dizzee Rascal has told how an invitation to Robbie Williams’s Los Angeles mansion led to a 12-hour “jamming” session and a new single.

The 27-year-old east Londoner’s new track, Goin’ Crazy, features the former Take That member.

Dizzee said: “I got to his house at 6pm and left at 6am. We recorded for two hours and just spent the rest of the time chatting. Just jamming and having a laugh.

“He is a down to earth guy but because of how big he is he has had to separate himself [from the world] because of the insanity. I guess that he has cut himself off, so some people don’t get a lot from him.” The star from Bow said he had to get away from the pressures he faced in the UK and just “live” while working on his latest album, The Fifth, which he described as his happiest yet.

The rapper also unveiled a star-studded list of collaborators who appear on the album, including Jessie J, will.i.am, Sean Kingston and Tinie Tempah.

He said: “I was chilling in Miami and made most of this in LA. It’s a wicked way of recording. Waking up in the sun, writing lyrics and going to the studio where they’ve got the beats ready. I felt free.

“The sound has come from just living — just enjoying myself and chilling out. Having a laugh, I guess.

“I was trying to make the most positive album I could. I didn’t want to put out a depressing album that was deep. It’s not the album that’s trying to save the world. It’s the album that’s trying to animate everyone, make them feel good and dance.”

Robbie Williams slashes sale price of luxury mansionPTI : London, Tue Jun 11 2013, 09:57 hrs

British singer Robbie Williams is offering a USD 4 million discount on his luxury country estate in a bid to make a quick sale on the property.

The 'Angels' hitmaker originally purchased Compton Bassett House in Wiltshire, England in 2009 for USD 12.5 million but has now slashed the price to USD 8.5 million.

Williams has decided to offload the 18th century mansion, which sits on 71 acres of land boasts a helicopter hanger, eight bedrooms, a leisure complex and two staff apartments, as he is spending an increasing amount of time in Los Angeles.

Rupert Sweeting of real estate agency Knight Frank says, "Robbie is spending so much time in LA that the property is surplus to requirements."

 I thought he already sold this ages ago?

No. That was the previous country mansion. Then he bought this one.

Eyes are on Liam as he clashes with Robbie

Singer set to perform on The Voice with arch enemy

Showdown ... Liam Gallagher and Robbie Williams have both been booked for The Voice

Published: 22 hrs ago

EXTRA security has been called in after arch enemies Liam Gallagher and Robbie Williams were both booked to perform.

Liam is singing live with his band Beady Eye on Saturday night, while Robbie will be on set to pre-record a performance with Dizzee Rascal.

Worried bosses are keeping the warring pair – who first clashed in 2000 – on separate sides of London’s Pinewood Studios.

A show source said: “Relations between Robbie and Liam do seem to have become less hostile but the bosses aren’t taking any chances.

“They had hoped they wouldn’t be in the studio at the same time but as Robbie’s tour clashed with the final, his performance has to be pre-recorded. So we have given them separate Winnebagos on either side of the studio and called in extra security to be on hand in case the pair do kick off.”

Robbie – who challenged Liam to a televised fight at the 2000 Brits – have bashed heads repeatedly over the years.

And recently it emerged that Liam, who married Robbie’s ex Nicole Appleton, also ended up with the cat his rival shared with the All Saints singer.

Robbie said: “I am now in my 40th year and I think it is time for a cat.

“I used to have one when I went out with Nicole. We went to Harrods one day and bought one. I wonder if she is still alive. Nicole got her, in the ‘cat-vorce’.”

The 39-year-old singer on fatherhood and fidelity, reuniting with his old bandmates, and his tattoo wars with One Direction

'My 30s, apart from a little blip, have been the most successful decade,' said Robbie Williams

A few months ago, backstage at the O2 Arena shortly before this year’s Brit Awards, Robbie Williams spotted One Direction’s Harry Styles down the corridor and shouted out a greeting.

‘I used to be Harry Styles,’ he murmured to me, then returned to his dressing room to rehearse a dance routine he was still learning for the song he would perform that night, his number one Candy, a song that has become his third-biggest-selling single ever.

Williams has been coming to the Brit Awards for over half his life (in that time he has received a record 17 awards).

Later on that evening, sitting down to talk back at his London home, he says that he had just been reading the novel Kill Your Friends by John Niven.

‘He’s got a very cynical view of the record industry,’ Williams noted, ‘but it resonated with me.’

As he read the book, he also stumbled across a passage about himself, describing a young and newly sober Robbie Williams at the Brit Awards in the 1990s.

‘He says, “Now there’s a guy that’s been handed all the sevens,” Williams recounted. “Who has been handed the cards.”

And it really struck a chord with me. Yeah, this could have happened to anybody and it happened to me. And that I’m a lucky son of a bitch, and so is everybody else in the recording industry.

'Apart from Prince. And a couple more that don’t come to mind. I just look at the people at the Brit Awards, including myself, and think we’re all so very lucky.’

Lucky Robbie’s latest killer hand dealt him all the aces: first he finally hung up his bachelor boots and married Ayda Field, a 34-year-old American actress, then he became a father for the first time when his new wife gave birth to their daughter Theodora (Teddy) last September.

And his latest tour, which includes a four-night run at Wembley Stadium, is his biggest yet. Not bad for a Take That tearaway from Stoke-on-Trent...

Robbie Williams: I've got some bad tattoos but some of One Direction's are horrendous

Rob's a big 1D fan but he thinks they need some good advice

Robbie Williams loves comparing tattoos with the One Direction boys.

Rob - who started calleding 1D his 'brothers' after performing with them on The X Factor in 2010 - thinks that even his worst inkings are better than some that Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne have had done.

‘[i like] checking out their new tattoos and me showing them my new tattoos,' says Rob, 39.

‘I'm in the One Direction bad tattoo club. I have bad tattoos - so do they.

‘They're winning. They've got some horrendous ones.'

Niall Horan is the only member of 1D who's not body artwork crazy.

Rob shot to fame with Take That in the 1990s and he can see a lot of his young boyband self in 1D, particularly curly-haired heartthrob Harry, 19.

‘It's hard not to,' the singer tells Mail Online.

‘It seems as though there's no Jason Orange and Gary Barlow there to tell them off and give them, ironically, a bit of direction.

‘It would seem that it's a band of Robbies and Mark [Owens]. It's going to be fascinating to see what happens.

‘I like seeing how they're doing. Following Harry and his many romances and being slightly envious.'

Robbie Williams says he will buy drugs for his daughter when she grows up - and take them with her

24 Jun 2013 12:06

The singer reveals his experience will help his daughter if she decides to experiment in the future

Robbie Williams famously battled addiction and alcoholism in the past and has revealed he will buy his daughter drugs when she grows up – to make sure she takes the “best possible”.

The grounded singer, 39, confesses while he wouldn’t want his tot Theodor Rose to be exposed to drugs, he would prefer to be involved in the experimentation rather than kept in the dark.

“I doubt she’ll be like me. Touch wood, and follow that with a lot of love and a lot of luck, she won’t go there or have to go there," he told an Australian magazine, as quoted by The Sun.

“If unfortunately that does happen, I’ll know what to do. Which is make sure she’s got the best drugs possible — and take them with her.”

Robbie and wife Ayda Field welcomed daughter Teddy into the world in September last year.

And the singer has written a track for his only child inspired by his own substance abuse and addiction to prescription pills. The lyrics go into detail about his dark history.

“It goes, ‘Sit down, close the door I think it’s time you knew the score, why you feel weird.

“One day you’ll be told about, how Daddy let his demons out, yeah he makes them scream and shout. So what better when you’re old enough, and you’re out on your own and stuff, if you start losing hold of love it’s because...

“Your uncle sells drugs, your cousin is a cutter, your grandma is a fluffer, your grandad’s in the gutter, your mother is a nutter, you’re a mad motherf**ker.”

  I really don't get Robbie sometimes .

Robbie Williams led tributes to stage designer Mark Fisher on Wednesday, after he died following a 'long and difficult illness'.

Fisher, who was responsible for designing the stage for Robbie's Take The Crown tour, passed away peacefully on Tuesday aged 66.

Tweeting a picture of the giant head Fisher designed for his tour, Robbie wrote: 'R.I.P Mark Fisher, music's greatest architect. He will be missed. With respect, Robbie Williams.'

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/06/26/article-2348903-1A848503000005DC-257_634x782.jpg

And a statement from the Rolling Stones,Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts & Ronnie Wood, read: 'We are all extremely saddened to hear of the death of dear friend Mark Fisher.

The remarkable sets he designed for us over last two decades played a major part in the success of all those tours. His passion, dedication and professionalism was infectious.

'We all loved his dry sense of humour and unflappable demeanour ...a quietly soft spoken genius. Mark will be sorely missed - not only by us, but by every single member of ours ..and any crew he worked with.

'Our sincere condolences go to his wife and family.'

The news of Fisher's passing was announced in a statement on the website of the company he founded, Stufish.

It read: 'His work influenced not only the colleagues and crews with whom he worked but also surprised and delighted the many millions of people who experienced his designs all over the world.'

Architect Fisher first proved his skills in the music tour world with his designs for Pink Floyd’s The Wall tour in 1980 and The Rolling Stones Steel Wheels Tour in 1989.

But it was when Fisher began working with U2 in 1992 that he really made a name for himself in the industry, particularly with the large LED video wall which provided the focal point during the band's PopMart tour.

As well as working on the band's Elevation and Vertigo tour, Fisher's piece de resistance came with the U2'S 360 Tour - which saw him take the record for the largest touring production in UK history due to the now infamous Claw structure he designed.

In addition to his work with U2, Robbie and other artists including Sir Elton John, Lady Gaga and Madonna, Fisher also created designs for West End show We Will Rock You.

Speaking about his former colleague, musical director Mike Dixon tweeted on Wednesday: 'Such a sad day. RIP the great Mark Fisher.'

Fisher also worked as senior designer during the opening and Closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics and executive producer during the same ceremonies at London 2012.

:(

Yeah, he dedicated Angels to him. It was very touching.

Guess this is why the tour tickets were so expensive.... <_<

Robbie Williams has splashed out £9 million :o on a holiday home in the Caribbean.

The 39-year-old singer who received £2.1 million from selling a five-bedroom mansion in Los Angeles, decided to buy the property in Mustique - which is part of a group of islands called the Grenadines - after falling in love with the place when he and his wife Ayda Field visited in May.

Although it is a large sum of money, Robbie - who has a nine-month-old daughter Theodora 'Teddy' Rose with actress Ayda - felt he could afford it after the success of his 'Take the Crown' tour of Europe.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Robbie's been looking for a home in the Caribbean for some time. He thought about the Bahamas but fell in love with Mustique, and decided to take the plunge last time he and Ayda visited in May. He's had a great year with a sold-out tour which helped sway their decision. Him and Ayda love the privacy of the place."

The private island is a hotspot for celebrities; Rolling Stones singer Sir Mick Jagger has a property there, while regular visitors include fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger and Prince William and Duchess Catherine too.

The source added: "Seeing as there's only a handful of restaurants, he's bound to bump into famous neighbours. They plan to spend a lot of time there. It's the perfect place to unwind."

Ruck DJ

Mass brawl during Robbie's Wembley concert

BOOZED-UP thugs fought a terrifying pitched battle during a Robbie Williams concert at Wembley Stadium.

Mayhem broke out when four threw kicks and punches on the covered playing area.

It escalated when beer was thrown — and one man in a red T-shirt got battered while on the ground. A bald yob had his top ripped off as he rained blows on the floored victim.

Concert-goers backed away from the 20-thug tear-up as Rock DJ star Robbie, 39, sang Sin Sin Sin near the end of Sunday’s London gig.

Some women even joined in — but others tried to stop it.

Security finally moved in but fans, who paid up to £300, said the ruck ruined the night.

One, called Charlie, tweeted: “Wembley security is so s**t would think twice about going again.”

In April, Millwall fans rioted at a Wembley FA Cup semi-final.

The girlfriend looks like a right dork :P

Security were very slow in throwing them out ...why on earth do these people drink so much at concerts

Edited by Sydney

My friend and I saw quite a few people getting huckled away off the pitch by Hampden security men. But we didn't see what had been going on. However, a work colleague was in the standing area and said it was horrendous and she would never get pitch tickets again.

She gave these examples from near to her:-

- a man urinating in open view of young children

- people throwing lager around (she got soaked)

- a man and a woman rolling on the ground knocking seven bells out of each other

- 4 girls in a stand up fight grabbing hair and throwing punches

She said it had ruined her night and she didn't feel safe.

I am heartily sick of these pond life types getting tanked up on bevvy and ruining the occasion for everyone else. They are not Robbie fans. They couldn't care less about Robbie or his music. For them it's just an excuse to get blootered on drink.

The same think happened to me when I went to see Snow Patrol a couple of years ago. Everyone was enjoying the music. Then this man standing nearby accidentally bumped into another man. The other man (who was obv a psycho) started a fight, screaming and shouting and being really aggressive. And the sad thing was, everyone just stood and watched him abuse the wee man who had bumped into him. No security in sight.... Eventually the nutter's wife pulled him away. I couldn't relax after that.

Anyway, rant over. But such behaviour is not acceptable.
