I think we will see more and more of this as the download market gets even bigger - A lot of those songs and their chart performances are due to fan campaigns, reality TV, fake versions or seasonal songs - As people have more access to instant music this of course affects the chart performances of songs heard on a TV show one week and never to be heard again.

Interesting.

 

But you can't really tell yet what happens especially with Bieber's upcoming single(s). And wouldn't count ancient songs helped by TV shows (Dakota for example) or sudden surges caused by death (Whitney).

 

If you take those away, not much left. Mostly Christmas songs (and flops by Saturdays and Alexandra Burke).

 

 

Can we see which of these were actually new releases and not being purchased because of a one-off high profile exposure on The Voice or some such talent show?

So taking out Reality TV, Deaths, Fan Campaigns, Fakes etc, the above its what's left - I think the Justin Biebers singles will recover once promoted as an 'official' single though to be fair so we are really left with 2 under performing XF artists [Alexandra Burke & Aiden Grimshaw], A girl group on their last legs [The Saturday's], A girl group soon to be on their last legs [stooshe] and a few random dance tracks. The Linkin Park track looks likely to return Top 75 this week too.

Blackout is the most surprising one imo as it actually sounds like a proper pop hit.

Still love this song - I really thought it would do more and recover, It had a shocking chart run for such a great pop/dance track.
