Posted July 2, 201213 yr After the incredible success of 'Call Me Maybe' from her EP 'Curiosity', Carly Rae Jepsen has confirmed that she has now putting the final touches to her 2nd studio album (following 'Tug of War' released in 2008) and expects it to be released prior to going on tour with Justin Bieber in September. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/a39...t-finished.html Carly Rae Jepsen: 'My new album's almost finished' Carly Rae Jepsen has "almost finished" her upcoming album, she has revealed. The 'Call Me Maybe' star told MTV that she is putting the finishing touches to the record, which is expected to be released before she tours with Justin Bieber in September. "At this point, my record's almost finished," she said. "It's pretty close, just wrapping up the loose ends. "I feel like the songs are mostly there, but there's still some production and stuff to be done. But we're close. We're at the home stretch." The record is said to include contributions from Bieber, fun., and LMFAO's RedFoo. She recently collaborated with Owl City on 'Good Time'. "I love collaborating. It's a good way to get a new sort of song; two heads are better than one," Jepsen added. "In the future one day, dreaming big here, Katy [Perry] is amazing, that would be pretty cool." July 2, 201213 yr Really looking forward to this, her debut was really good but the Curiousity EP showed she's only getting better and is more to my taste, so a whole album of that style will be brilliant!
July 2, 201213 yr edit: oops, didn't realise the bitch already had an album! :o Edited July 2, 201213 yr by Pavel
July 2, 201213 yr I'm strangely excited. 'Call Me Maybe' and 'Good Time' are in my top 5 songs of the year, so I'm curious (pun unintentional) to hear more of this...
July 3, 201213 yr Put me in the excited pile. Call Me Maybe and Good Time are both amazing, I wouldn't be surprised if this somehow ends up being one of the albums of the year for me. That said, fun. better not be on it! I think I can just about survive LMFAO.
July 3, 201213 yr Pretty excited for this, I hope she sticks with the whole feel good pop vibe she's got going on. 'Good Time' and 'Call Me Maybe' are both excellent pop songs and we need more of that in the charts I think. LMFAO doesn't fill me with much hope but I can overlook one song or two I guess.
July 3, 201213 yr fun. >>>> LMFAO surely? I think this is going to be about as good as the Alexis Jordan album tbh. A couple of absolute smashes lost in a sea of OH GOD NO.

July 16, 201213 yr Author Digital spy have reported this interview with Carly - sounds great!! I'm sure a few members on here will love who her music inspiration are! Carly Rae Jepsen has expressed hope that she will carve out her own niche in pop music. The singer - who is the protégé of Justin Bieber - told The AP that she had not expected her US number one single 'Call Me Maybe' to attract a mainstream audience. "We used the idea of being like a modern-day Annie Lennox-type pop, like 'Walking on Broken Glass' [on 'Call Me Maybe']. I want to do songs like that," she recalled. "So, we decided to add some different instruments like strings, things you don't normally hear in pop songs right now." She went on to say: "We weren't expecting that it was going to be like the game-changing song, we just thought it was a little bit of tune and now we're all just kind of looking at each other like, 'What happened?'" Jepsen went on to reveal that she has some surprising musical influences. "Style-wise, I think my love affair with pop music is just getting stronger. If anything I want to go further down that road but I'm inspired by Robyn, La Roux, Dragonette, I love those artists," she said. "I'm hoping to add my little spin to pop music so that it's a little refreshing like something you haven't heard yet." Jepsen recently joked that she is too embarrassed to actually give her phone number to a romantic interest. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/a39...-be-unique.html Edited July 16, 201213 yr by Ryan741
July 17, 201213 yr It seems she has quite razor sharp music taste (well, I'll let La Roux slide), I was preparing for a simple throwaway pop album but if that sort of sound can be reflected then she may have me completely on board.
July 17, 201213 yr It seems she has quite razor sharp music taste (well, I'll let La Roux slide), I was preparing for a simple throwaway pop album but if that sort of sound can be reflected then she may have me completely on board. I hope not La Roux is AWFUL.
July 17, 201213 yr I hope not La Roux is AWFUL. I don't like La Roux either... but that's mainly because of the bint that fronts them. :P It was more in reference to the other two.
July 17, 201213 yr La Roux are amazing! If she can craft an album as good as their début I'll be hugely impressed.
July 18, 201213 yr I take it the songs from the EP will be on there as well? They're too good to waste!
July 18, 201213 yr On a random note does anyone else here Untouched by the veronicas so bad in the instrumental of Call Me Maybe. Just a tiny bit of chord progression.
July 18, 201213 yr On a random note does anyone else here Untouched by the veronicas so bad in the instrumental of Call Me Maybe. Just a tiny bit of chord progression. Not remotely... you're probably thinking that because they both prominently have strings.
July 18, 201213 yr Not remotely... you're probably thinking that because they both prominently have strings. The similarities are there for me the strings bit always puts me in mind of untouched very similar sounding.
July 18, 201213 yr Ahhh right. She must have released an album after Canadian Idol, which didn't do well to break elsewhere.
July 18, 201213 yr Author Ahhh right. She must have released an album after Canadian Idol, which didn't do well to break elsewhere. She did, it was called 'Tug of War'. It spawned a couple of singles which had top 40 success in Canada. The album was much more acoustic and less pop compared to the Curiosity EP.
