Streaming does make the chart slower. It would be the same in all countries if they included it. The reason is, that you only buy a song once, but people listen to those songs again and again for weeks (I do the same, many songs I've been listening to regularly for years!).

Even looking at the On-Demand chart itself shows that. Songs like Pumped Up Kicks, The Motto, Niggas in Paris, Midnight City, etc. which are from ages ago (in the US), are still very high up.

Also, with downloads you can get sharp fluctuations in them, whilst in streaming and airplay you don't. So the less downloads count to the chart, the less weekly movement there will be, since with streaming and airplay, they tend to just move gradually each week.

I agree, it's more representative of what's popular though, but I'm just saying, it's what's slowing down the chart. I don't think it's a temporary thing. It'll still be slow in 12 months time (unless they change the rules again). There's nothing wrong the chart being "slow" though. It's not really made for entertainment purposes.

Correct. The charts are compiled by industry for the industry mainly. Ordinary people are not interested in what happens behind the top 3/5, only us chart geeks are.
