July 20, 201213 yr I hope it isn't what I'M considering Liam, I do suspect I will have a fight on my hands for it though (which I'll lose).
July 20, 201213 yr I hope it isn't what I'M considering Liam, I do suspect I will have a fight on my hands for it though (which I'll lose). It's Australian?
July 20, 201213 yr Why start with such vague questions? GIVE US THE INITIALS (with a full name in brackets) ALREADY -_- I could see The Young Professionals top 10 in UP, but I would have probably sent Deserve or Dirty Messages. Have to say my voters were noticeably smoothier than last time tho ~ (When is the next UP btw? I have the PERFECT track for it). At the beginning of September, I would assume.
July 20, 201213 yr Jake sending the gayest scandi pop song EVER doesn't really qualify him as a proper smoothie tbh. YOU'RE NOT A SMOOTIE HAVE A SEAT. there's only room for 4 of us soo & it's called giving the people what they want yo, woodkid looked like a fluke but after moan i'm sure people will be venturing out a bit more now. plus my votes were far from all pop so BYE ox Edited July 20, 201213 yr by JakeWild

July 20, 201213 yr Well done Lew, didn't comment last night, but V HAPPY for you, that didn't take you long GAWD. I'm sure you'll be wanting me to help out with your artwork, seeing as you're a bit lacking in that department, y'know.. Not gonna lie, it's another song winning that I didn't really like THAT much (23rd in my rankings, 6/10), but I don't dislike it. Obviously the winners recently have been steering away from pop, but me having voted for 2 out of 7 winners recently, and Dragonette being the only other winner I really like, is disappointing for me. Don't feel like songs like Raining Diamonds / Inescapable / Louder would stand a chance of winning right now, which for me personally, is disappointing, because that's why I loved the contest - but I will not give in, and try and be risky for the sake of being risky. I'll continue to send pop songs, because they're the songs I like most when looking for tracks.
July 20, 201213 yr I'm just promising to myself now that I'll send whatever song is highest in my affections at the time that won't get veto'd, whether it's a pop track or something for the ''''hipsters''''' I've done it the past few contests, because when you just try and find something that you know (or rather think) will appeal to Buzzjack it can backfire. At least if I send my favourite track that isn't by someone like Katy Perry or another obvious veto/cheap figure, then I know that I will love it at least. It's horrible when even you end up going off your own entry, I did it once with Drop It and look how that turned out

I mean don't get me wrong, I really liked Raining Diamonds but those three have got to be some of the more disappointing and predictable non-event winners since the reboot (along with that Yuxhaaq winner I've completely forgotten the name of)
July 20, 201213 yr Bomb and You're The One were one and two points from winning respectively. Surely nobody can say BJSC isn't still all about pop.

I mean don't get me wrong, I really liked Raining Diamonds but those three have got to be some of the more disappointing and predictable non-event winners since the reboot (along with that Yuxhaaq winner I've completely forgotten the name of) Oh yeah, they are, and they can still do well - I mean 'Endless Summer' coming 8th pretty much proves proper pop stuff does still do well. But, for me I love those songs, and it seems a shame for the contest to slightly steer away from those real pop roots. HOWEVER, I do really like the diversity brought into the contest, I mean, I really liked songs by PR Of Jester / Fljotavik / Ingermanlandia that I don't think we'd have got as much as before. I'm not frowning on people voting for more indie stuff as such, the contest isn't gonna stay the same and be dead predictable forever, and I do quite like that, I'd just like to be given faith that a really good poppy song could win, and Bomb winning probably would've done that in a sense (1pt shows it is still possible though obviously).
July 20, 201213 yr Bomb and You're The One were one and two points from winning respectively. Surely nobody can say BJSC isn't still all about pop. The majority of songs sent to BJSC are pop, and there's no denying it's a pop orientated contest - no way I'm trying to dispute that. I'd just like to see one of the pop type songs, in like Raining Diamonds / Louder types, win again personally, and I think it's a shame that those songs probably wouldn't come close these days. I'm certainly not trying to say BJSC isn't pop in the majority, because it definitely is.
July 20, 201213 yr surely 3 new people joining with an 'indie' taste can't change a contest that much. people are just liking what they're liking and run boy run and moan have just appealed to everybody.
July 20, 201213 yr A little gutted with 27th, I've been terribly off form this year but I've still been sending my favourite songs so I can't grumble too much, it's just that my music tastes aren't really as much in line with what does well in BJSC anymore  You and me both! :( But you're right. I adore the songs I send so I really don't mind where I place in this contest now. I'm going proper left-field next contest, though. Last place in my semi, here I come! :D
July 20, 201213 yr I was going to say I'd better start looking, but for once I have 2 potential entries already, one is a bit uninspired though (not cheap though, just slightly uninpsired) but I daresay it's easily a qualifier anyway. The other is very very pop but I think someone else may be after it. I think you could after what I'm going for Liam, if it's Korean anyways.
July 20, 201213 yr I think you could after what I'm going for Liam, if it's Korean anyways. I don't know if I will, it feels really cheap but if they just released it literally a day earlier I would have done so much better this contest
July 20, 201213 yr I must be really wording this badly, because I'm not trying to make it sound like these songs doing well is bad, or bad for the contest. Whatever wins, no matter what my preference of genres or songs are, deserves to win, I'm not disputing that in the slightest. Besides Jake, it's not like you & Lewis are even predominantly indie these days, I don't even think Lewis's taste is indie, it's more like electronic stuff. I'm just saying that I think it's more difficult for pop songs to win this day, which is a shame for me in a pop fan, but I'm not lessening the quality of the contest, or rubbishing winners or people sending them. Each to their own!

I think we've had about four years of proof that a really good poppy song can win!
