Ellie still climbing, and Alex Clare top 40  Good week :D
Cher dropping, ugh, at least she should be back up next week (Ed to hopefully). 'One Thing' top 40, now 'Chasing The Sun' just needs to go top 50 (and Ellie top 3 with any luck).
Cher dropping

As I said, good week :kink:

Calvin gets a third top 20 hit :cheer: I realise it's mainly because radio have decided to rape it despite relatively low interest from the downloading public but still. I wonder what he'll release next? I'd like to see him releasing We'll Be Coming Back to give Example a chance to break through but I doubt he will.

Yay for more climbs for Ellie, Alex, One Direction and The Wanted (so close to a second top 50 hit for the latter).

Surely Maroon 5 must vacate the top 3 very soon...

Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" tops the Hot 100 for the seventh straight week. That's the longest run by a female solo artist since Adele's "Rolling In The Deep" had seven weeks on top from May to July 2011. The last five songs to spend seven or more weeks at #1 were all by (or at least featured) an act who was born outside the U.S. "Call Me Maybe" was preceded by "Somebody That I Used To Know" by Gotye (born in Belgium) featuring Kimbra (from New Zealand); "We Found Love" by Rihanna (from Barbados) featuring Calvin Harris (from Scotland); "Rolling In The Deep" by Adele (from England) and "Love The Way You Lie" by Eminem (an American!) featuring Rihanna (from Barbados).

DavidGuetta 116,000

CherLloyd 110,000 (535,000).

I think Call Me Maybe will manage an 8th week aswell. It's roughly equal with Katy on iTunes atm, and way ahead of Maroon 5, and it's doing better on streaming aswell.

I'm surprised Mercy has climbed. I was convinced its peak would be #14, since it dropped last week, and it's fallen loads on iTunes, and it's stabilizing on airplay now (unless pop radio start playing it soon), and they've release their next single now. But I'm not complaining there!

digitally i think Ellie is done now, but with her radio play being so massive I can see her going top 3 still.

EDIT: Ellie is also 91 on the BB 200, without a discount :cheer:

I just checked the streaming chart, and she's #1 on there aswell! :o

This made me think, sometimes when songs do insanely well on downloads, pop radio has to give in and just play them, even though they really don't want to (this happened with We Are Young, Somebody That I Used to Know, Pumped Up Kicks, Rolling in the Deep, Someone Like You, etc. recently).

Do you think the same would happen with the streaming chart? If a non-pop song does very well on there, would pop radio just give in and play it eventually, or would they just ignore it still? It's not really happened yet, but I was just wondering, because Frank Ocean is #17 on there already, which is just incredible given the such small amount of airplay the song is getting. I think if they keep pushing the song, it has enourmous potential, and pop radio might hopefully end up being forced to play it. I would be so delighted if Frank Ocean got a hit in the singles chart.

8 Brits in the top 40 = 20%. Very impressive. Remember the days of 2000-01 when we'd be lucky to have 1 in the top 40 every 4-5 months!
... This has to be the most boring chart ever though :drama:

More than boring, the top 10 has become so darn slow. :( It's always 3-4 songs moving up or down a notch and tons of non-movers.

Wow 8 weeks how many weeks did Gotye's SIUTK get. Ellie #4 her second album could be a global smash when it drops :yahoo:. I think the staticness of the chart is due to no big releases from major artists out lately just 3/4 releases singles from albums from the big artists. The newer artists struggle to get to the higher echelons of the chart due to lack of airplay.

it's weird that Cher Lloyd didn't climb especially since she was in the itunes top 5 for most of last week...

however hopefully will be in the top 10 soon but the charts have ben so slow recently that's it's now a 'mission impossible' to make it into the US top 10....

where's the Bubbling under?

As I mentioned last week, I'd be delighted to see the Calvin Harris remix of 'Spectrum (Say My Name)' get a promotional push in the US. It's already gone top 5 on New Zealand iTunes, and New Zealand's charts are fairly similar to USA so who knows. With Florence already having a couple of hits it makes perfect sense. :D

Streaming has clearly slowed the US charts right down. Would've expected 'Wide Awake' to have overtaken 'Payphone' this week and 'Whistle' gaining closer to the top spot too.

Are new releases like No Doubt's new single actually available on these paid streaming services, or are they added later?

The Calvin remix has actually been put on US iTunes but it's doing nothing right now, it's gone right out of the top 1000. Which is really really weird seeing as Calvin and Florence are both reasonably big right now and it went top 100 in Canada. I still think it's worth giving a push but I don't know how big it would get.
I think 'Feel The Love' could be a US hit if it got a push there, it's done well in Australia which is a good sign.

Agree. That';s also been avail on US iTunes from forever.

On Spotify you can get most new releases one or two days after their digital release. They take ages to climb up the on-demand chart because not everybody refreshes their playlists every day probably.
