As announced by Melanie herself on Twitter, her debut single (well, 2nd if you count the Respect cover for that Pepsi commercial) is called Don't Fail Me Now and it is out on Tuesday :D

Sounds like an epic ballad, which is fine by me as that probably suits her best and I love a good ballad, but she doesn't need to be Leona mark II. Then again, she wouldn't suit slutty and going 'proper' R&B rarely works out for reality alumni so I guess it's the best way.

Ooh very excited for this!!

Could we have another 'Battlefield' please? :kink:

It will be interesting how successful she will be in America after Chris Rene wasn't that successful with his two singles
Obviously without having heard the single, my prediction is I'll love it yet she'll be a big flop.
The contestants on Season 1 were awful esp those 2 pretentious sense of entitlement brats Rachel Crow and Astro :puke2:.Melanie and Josh were the only 2 with any talent.I cant see Melanie making it she is 2 bland which was Leona's downfall after Bleeding Love & Run.
This is a Pop/Dance song why is it in this forum. but actually speaking of the song its not bad quite catchy but a bit disjointed.

We had no idea what genre the song would be until it premiered, it was just assumed it would be more in a R&B direction! However, now we know it isn't I'm sure a moderator will be able to move it into the Pop forum.

I still haven't listened to it yet, but I will very soon! I actually really liked Respect and I've heard comparisons to 'Collide' so I'm very interested!

Oh that's shit. The melody of the chorus is catchy I guess but really irritating/clumsy too. Feet, don't fail me now! is a cringetastic lyric. I can't remember a thing about the verses except that damp squib of a breakdown which never climaxes. This will do nothing.

Oh... How disappointing

It's good but why this? She could've done with something like Battlefield by Jordin Sparks - not too dull and old fashioned but slow enough to suit her. I had a feeling she'd do this sort of thing though, it's good she isn't being really predictable and doing 90s Mariah-esque power ballads but she needs to do better than this. Certainly not a hit by any means.

I think I really like this! But it's a very strange song on first listen!

It's like it isn't sure whether it wants to be a power-ballad or a full-on dance song. The structure reminds me slightly of 'Hold It Against Me' with the highly-produced verses and then the minimal production in the chorus. And it doesn't really flow well enough to be a brilliant dance-ballad like 'Collide'.

However, it is a good song and something different but I doubt it will set the charts alight.

It's like a dance song that Leona rejected. I guess they really are trying to make her an American Leona.
Oh no, I'm so disappointed! I honestly think she has one of the best voices out there at the moment - maybe a bit plain, but very strong - so I'm sad to hear she's been given this Alexis Jordan-lite track. I expected so much more from her, but she's not delivered. :(
This is terrible. Such a shame as I was championing her on the show, but this is exactly the type of music she should not be doing. Boring rip-off rubbish.

Here it is on her official Soundcloud:

Gosh, this is SUCH a grower! I'm actually loving this now! And I love the ending especially!

Seems like everybody's favourite Asian diva Melanie Amaro is trying to forget this awful song ever happened and is instead rush releasing this:

She's a great singer and all, and she deserved to win. But she hasn't been very marketable. It was like, she won, and that was it :/
