August 18, 201212 yr Author Older songs always tend to do weaker than newer ones, but I still think it's surprising to see the bottom 5 in the playoff ALL being 2002 songs. But again, I think it's entirely down to the voters in those two rounds, they weren't as wide or representative as others so songs sneaked in that wouldn't have had all the usual voters voted.

It finished fourth in the 2005 final, 13 points away from auto-qualification from the final but the song it lost out to ('Feel Good Inc.') got 26 more points from the last two voters (Bre and SevenSeize). It would've been guaranteed a new peak but instead falls 5 places from last years high. 'Who Knew' is one of Pink's most well regarded songs but falls heavily this year after spending four of the previous five years in the top 30 but never having made it higher than 22, one of the most consistent songs in the competition. Little Boots fails to make the final for the first time with 'Remedy', a falling trend that could easily continue as she becomes more irrelevant with each year that passes. The fanbase of Marina took 'Hollywood' to the final last time around but it can't quite match it this year, having to settle for the mid-point of play-off non qualifiers. There's also a pleasing climb for Tinie Tempah's 'Pass Out' - one of the greatest rap songs of the last few years which has deservedly become popular in the mainstream.

'On The Floor' has done well to get so high but 10th in the final and then 10th of those songs again in the play-offs isn't as much as I expected from a song that was so popular on BuzzJack last year. It's the highest J-Lo has been since the 2008 game when 'Waiting For Tonight' finished 44th in the final. The other 2011 song to appear here is 'The Edge of Glory', from another BJ favourite, Lady Gaga. It comfortably ranks as the highest track from the 'Born This Way' era, the title track its nearest challenger failing to make the top 200 at #233. There's a fall for Beyonce with 'Irreplaceable', falling to its lowest position in four years, but once again her second highest song (as lead artist). Nelly Furtado reaches a new peak with 'Try' as it makes the top 100 for the first time and there's a welcome long-awaited return for Kanye West with 'Gold Digger' at 76. A minor entry in the first ever game and ignored ever since. This year has been Kanye's most successful by a long, long way. His only other previous top 200 entries were features on 'American Boy' but that is one of 6 songs for him this year!Â
August 19, 201212 yr Who Knew  My favourite Pink song, should be higher! Same goes for Beyonce, it's 2nd to Listen though for me. TEOG is a bit overrated amongst Gaga fans in general I think, it's so so good but there's better on the album. Nice to see it high though! Hollywood is a surprising inclusion in the top 100, I knew it had love but didn't expect to see it high. Always welcome love for Marina though!
August 19, 201212 yr The Edge of Glory  Best Gaga single ever, but I agree some of her album tracks are far superior!

Hips Don’t Lie has had a rather understated run for a hit of its size, slipping 6 places as it continues to hang around the higher playoff non-qualifier area, while Paparazzi finds a place other than 40 to land at, slipping out of the final for the first time. Song 4 Mutya, Groove Armada's only song in here, and the only one to credit Mutya as a solo artist, yet also probably the only song to namecheck the singer so many times, returns yet again to the top 200. In one year, out the next, it gets to the playoff for the first time in 5 attempts.Â
August 20, 201212 yr 70 [87] Christina Aguilera - Fighter 3.304 [X-X-81-66-58-87-70] 69 [110] Girls Aloud - Love Machine 3.348 [120-X-52-X-147-110-69] 68 [24] Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out 3.348 [37-X-138-154-97-24-68] 67 [126] Robyn - Be Mine! 3.362 [X-X-126-67] 66 [NE] Coldplay - Paradise 3.383 [66] http://www.getenglishlessons.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/coldplay-paradise590.jpg Christina Aguilera's 'Fighter' was totally ignored in the first two editions of RotD but since then it’s been an extremely consistent finisher, always making the top 100 although only once progressing through the playoff into the top 60. It does 17 places better than last year to come 70th. Girls Aloud continue their recovery with 'Love Machine', which hit its #52 peak four years ago before dropping out of the top 200 but has climbed every year since, this time going up 41 places to #69 (make your own jokes). After their unusually successful year last year, Franz Ferdinand drop 44 places to a more usual #68 finish with 'Take Me Out'. The other two songs of the section make the top 70 and indeed the top 100 for the first time. Robyn's building BuzzPopularity helps 'Be Mine!' race up 59 places to #67 in its second top 200 appearance. Coldplay's 'Paradise' is the highest rated song of 2011 to not go into the final (and the eighth highest rated song of 2011 in all), clocking a #66 debut. I can only hope it does a lot better than that next year. ~ 65 [36] Rihanna feat. Drake - What's My Name? 3.391 [36-65] 64 [114] Sugababes - Hole In The Head 3.457 [39-59-31-33-37-114-64] 63 [35] Rihanna - Disturbia 3.511 [44-13-35-63] 62 [37] Rihanna - Only Girl (In The World) 3.638 [37-62] 61 [108] Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love 3.702 [21-1-4-108-61] http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e5/Rihanna,_LOUD_Tour,_Belfast_cropped_2.jpg This section is composed of two things - Rihanna and songs returning somewhat to former glories. Looking at Rihanna first, a trio of her songs that finished in consecutive positions 35-37 last year all just miss out on the top 60, almost repeating the consecutive positions finish. 'Only Girl (In The World)' was the lowest of the three last year but the highest this time, dropping to #62; one place behind is 'Disturbia', the leader of the pack last year; while the Drake-featuring 'What's My Name?' drops to #65. As for the songs returning to former glories, Sugababes' 'Hole In The Head' finished in the top 40 all but one year where it was 59th, until last year when it plummeted to #114. It makes a respectable 50-place improvement back to #64 this year but still lodges its second worst performance. Leona Lewis' 'Bleeding Love' had an absolutely catastrophic result last year, plummeting out of the top 100 from number four, which itself was a comedown from winning the game three years ago. It's BuzzJack voters' favourite playoff qualifier to not go to the final and thus recovers 47 places to #61. Edited August 20, 201212 yr by Bré
August 20, 201212 yr Author Into the final then...  60 - 139 Kelis 'Acapella' 136 points (139 - 60) 59 - 195 Black Eyed Peas 'Where Is The Love?' 148 points (53 - X - 82 - 147 - 128 - 195 - 59) 58 - 141 Girls Aloud 'The Loving Kind' 151 points (198 - 180 - 141 - 58) 57 - 23 The Killers 'Somebody Told Me' 159 points (30 - 14 - 26 - 19 - 22 - 23 - 57) 56 - 21 Sugababes 'About You Now' 169 points (24 - 09 - 09 - 21 - 56) http://rcrdlbl.com/files/rblog_images/kelis500.jpg Kicking off with the stragglers of the final, although all five of them were still able to rack up some high scores from some voters. Kelis has had a good year despite 'Trick Me' plummeting and although 'Acapella' finishes last in the final it's a decent result, climbing 79 places. Black Eyed Peas made the final for the first ever time (it only used to have 50 songs) with 'Where Is The Love? 'which is surprising, but a second to last finish doesn't quite match its initial peak. Girls Aloud's 'The Loving Kind' has made bigger progress with each passing year after initially just scraping it into the top 200. They were the only act to have as many as four songs in the final, which is still one less than they had last year. I'm delighted at its rise and that it's still growing in people's affections unlike some of their less classy stuff. 'Somebody' Told me has been remarkably consistent for the Killers, and this year's big fall is shockingly the first time it's been outside the top 30. This first set of five is rounded off by another large fall, for Sugababes 'About You Now', their last genuine big hit.
August 21, 201212 yr 55 [17] Girls Aloud - Call The Shots 175pts [30-10-16-17-55] 54 [NE] Foster The People - Pumped Up Kicks 180pts [54] 53 [112] MGMT - Kids 183pts [X-12-112-53] 52 [NE] Lana Del Rey - Video Games 191pts [52] 51 [48] Calvin Harris - I'm Not Alone 194pts [181-48-51] http://www.tribalmixes.com/pic/dj/calvin-harris-large.jpg There are two new entries here from 2011. Foster The People aren't your typical BuzzJack fare but their one hit, 'Pumped Up Kicks', has appealed to us enough to make the final and be a new entry at #54. A much more BuzzJack-friendly act (i.e. a female), Lana Del Rey, is a new entry at #52 with 'Video Games'. In an abnormally male-dominated section, the only other female representation is in the form of Girls Aloud's 'Call The Shots' which sadly plummets 38 places to a new low of #55. The other males in this section are MGMT, whose song 'Kids' is as already established once again the more popular of their two most popular songs (the other being the much better 'Time To Pretend'). It goes up 59 places to #53, but this is some way off its #12 peak of two years ago. Calvin Harris makes a small fall of three places to #51 with the wonderful 'I'm Not Alone'. August 21, 201212 yr Author I'm Not Alone gets better with age. Pleased but surprised 'Call The Shots' has dropped to its worst ever position, if 'Biology' could do it too that would be 3/3 for the trio of GA songs I find hideously overrated.
August 21, 201212 yr Quite a pleasing set of results so far. I'm happy to see 'Try', 'Pumped Up Kicks', 'The Loving Kind', 'Song 4 Mutya' and 'Be Mine' in the top 100. And decent showings for 'Scandalous' and 'Millionaire' too. Fairly disappointed in how The Saturdays have done. I'd have expected 'Higher' and 'Up' to be top 100, and I'd have hoped for 'Ego' to not fall out completely. I'm surprised at 'The Edge of Glory' doing so badly, and at Rihanna stumbling so much with Only Girl/What's My Name.
August 21, 201212 yr 50 - 168 Nelly Furtado - ‘All Good Things (Come To An End)’ 199pts (X - 27 - 73 - 166 - 168 - 50) 49 - 150 Royksopp ft. It performs respectably for it’s first outing; next year will be its final year, let’s see if we can improve on that.
August 21, 201212 yr Rihanna getting 3 songs stalling JUST outside the final (3 of her best) was a little heartbreaking. The Girl And The Robot and My Immortal moving comfortably into the final makes up for it though.
August 21, 201212 yr I've only just rediscovered how good All Good Things ( :basil: ) is. It didn't click with me at the time, but its really gorgeous and one of the best things she's ever done.
August 21, 201212 yr Since You Been Gone (incidentally, another great song) falls to its lowest ever position by 21 places, a sign of changing times perhaps? A sign of BuzzJack's taste becoming less shit.
August 22, 201212 yr Author You can probably put some of it down purely to age, doesn't always happen obviously but generally older songs tend to fall over the years. The top 10/20 tends to be quite recent. The average overall position of the 10 2005 qualifiers last year was 6 places higher than this year.
