August 14, 201212 yr Considering where 'Unfaithful' had been up until last year it was clearly an anomaly. I still think it's her worst ballad, probably worst song, her voice is SO grating on it compared to something like 'Take A Bow'. Pleased that 'Piece of Me' has climbed back in after last years huge drop. The three singles from that album are my favourites of hers by MILES. I've never liked Unfaithful OR DSTM. She has MUCH better songs imo. I completely agree about the three singles from that era being Britney's finest moments (musically :P)

Surprisingly two of these enter for the first time, Britney Spears 'Overprotected' and Stacie Orrico's '(There's Gotta Be) More To Life', something which has always had something of a cult following. There's a second appearance for Emma Bunton, surprised it's been in so little, as well as a return for Delta Goodrem after falling our for three years, someone else I'm surprised hasn't fared better in this with a dedicated (but obviously small) following on here. Dido's 'White Flag' returns after falling out for the first time last year.
August 14, 201212 yr 165 - NE Katy Perry ft. Kanye West - ‘E.T’ 4.571 (165) 164 - NE (259) Owl City - ‘Fireflies’ 4.585 (X - 164) 163 - NE The Saturdays - ‘All Fired Up’ 4.595 (163) 162 - NE Jay-Z ft. Kanye West - ‘Run This Town’ (X - X - 162) 161 - 154 Katy Perry - ‘Teenage Dream’ (154 - 161) http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/_/50180349/Katy%20Perry%20HQ%20PNG%20AND%20CROPPED%202.png A starkly recent section, and typically, I find it a rather wonderful collection. First on the list to talk about should be Katy Perry’s double appearance from her huge 2010 album Teenage Dream. The title track provides the only non-new entry in here, finding a result very similar to that of the one it had last year, in sub-150 territory, cementing its place as a minor Buzzjack fave. The 4th single E.T is just a few places lower, this time with Kanye West on it, if that’s the version you choose to hear. Another track with Kanye on it, being led by his partner in crime Jay-Z (also featuring Buzzjack fave Rihanna, but I’m sure that’s not important, although given the fallout against her so far in this competition, it may not ACTUALLY be mattering) and somehow the oldest track in this section. The excellent rap collaboration enters for the first time after having been strangely absent the past two years. Not a lot younger than it, one of my favourite songs ever, and I can say that with some certainty given I’ve never got bored of hearing it since it became big, Fireflies makes a debut in the top 200 at a respectable #164. It’ll probably never be as much of a Buzzjack fave as Owl City’s latest track; if that one smashes at all, but it’s far superior for me, a beautiful piece of music. The final track is by some utter flops who couldn’t even get a #1 after having been #1 on iTunes with this particular track. Naturally, their dancefloor ‘classic’ All Fired Up is their only 2011 track to make it in, the others being far too notorious. :basil:
August 14, 201212 yr Author The final track is by some utter flops who couldn’t even get a #1 after having been #1 on iTunes with this particular track. Naturally, their dancefloor ‘classic’ All Fired Up is their only 2011 track to make it in, the others being far too notorious. :basil: Record of the Decade #497 out of 500 SMASH! It's not something I paid much attention to at the time but it's grown on me so much. The Rihanna chorus may well be my favourite moment of hers.
August 14, 201212 yr Stacie Orrico  Didn't think hardly anyone else even liked it, so I'm surprised it even made it in to be honest! Love Maybe, E.T., All Fired Up, Fireflies, Teenage Dream and Lost Without You too, in particular E.T. and AFU! Run This Town should be a bit higher as well!
August 14, 201212 yr 160 [NE] Calvin Harris - Feel So Close 4.619 [160] 159 [178] Vampire Weekend - A-Punk 4.636 [X-X-178-159] 158 [106] Anastacia - Left Outside Alone 4.682 [26-10-13-35-14-106-158] 157 [NE] Britney Spears - Till The World Ends 4.690 [157] 156 [NE] Florence + The Machine - Cosmic Love 4.707 [X-156] http://blog.snehilkhanor.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/EndOfTheWorld-21-may-2011.jpg Three more new entries here. 'Feel So Close', Calvin Harris' second of five singles so far from his still-TBA third album, enters at #160, while the collaborators on the fifth of those singles have a new entry of their own four places higher. 'Sweet Nothing' by Calvin Harris feat. Florence + The Machine is yet to surface but Florence + The Machine are a new entry at #156 with their best song, the criminal flop 'Cosmic Love' which failed to make any impact on this game at all last time around. Britney Spears is the other new entry of the section at #157 with 'Till The World Ends', the song that inspired the bottom section of my signature. We hit the first former top 10 finisher in the form of Anastacia's 'Left Outside Alone', which came 10th in the second incarnation of Record of the Decade but has been largely on the decline ever since and reaches an all time low for the second year running, plummeting 52 places to #158. Indie faves Vampire Weekend conversely hit a new peak, climbing 19 places to #159 with 'A-Punk' (far from their best in my opinion but still almost flawless).
August 15, 201212 yr 'All Fired Up' being Top 200 is ridiculous, one of their worst songs tbh. Good to see 'Till The World Ends' getting some recognition though, one of the best songs of last year imo.
August 15, 201212 yr Feels So Close far too high even coming this low, bleh. Cosmic Love though

The new entry is another for The Saturdays, 'Higher' climbing over 100 places from last year. Bizarrely, their other song from that year 'Ego' has taken an almost identical reverse, falling over 100 places from 177 to 308. Justin Timberlake's erratic run with 'SexyBack' continues with a re-entry, and a technical climb of over 150 places. 'Rehab' falls to its lowest ever position for Amy Winehouse, after failing to make the final for the first time last year it continues to plummet, having well and truly reversed roles with 'Back To Black'. Coldplay also fall to a lowest position since they first entered after making the top 100 in four of the previous 5 years. There's also a big fall for 2003s surprise Christmas number one 'Mad World', after it reached what was by far its highest position last year.
August 15, 201212 yr 150 - NE Yeah Yeah Yeahs - ‘Zero’ 4.860 (X - X - 150) 149 - 102 Kelly Clarkson - ‘Behind These Hazel Eyes’ 4.881 (X - X - 100 - 18 - 38 - 102 - 149) 148 - 74 Bloc Party - ‘Flux’ 4.897 (X - X - X - 74 - 148) 147 - 39 Girls Aloud - ‘Untouchable’ 4.907 (X - 39 - 147) 146 - 54 Kelis - ‘Trick Me’ 4.909 (174 - 180 - X - X - X - 54 - 146) http://www.chestionabil.ro/images/blog/Bloc_party1.jpg One new entry here; after two years of being ignored, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs appear at number 150 with Zero, a song that has a lot of the indie contigent behind it; it appearing here three years after peaking at #49. Another alternative-friendly act, Bloc Party have their most well-known song, Flux, falling to double the position it was in last year, then having made a (fairly) glorious first impact on this game. Similarly, after managing somehow to get in the top 40 last time, Untouchable plummets to what I think is a rather more fitting position, others may disagree. A couple of steady Buzzjack faves complete the section, the wonderful Behind Your Hazel Eyes was once in the top 20 but over the past few years it has been following a decline downwards . Trick Me has had an up and down record in this game, once a bit of a non-entity, it almost reached the top 50 last year but only gets to 146 this time.
August 15, 201212 yr 145 [120] Kelly Rowland - Stole 4.912 [109-127-130-130-105-120-145] 144 [100] Shakira - Underneath Your Clothes 4.914 [X-20-119-146-X-100-144] 143 [75] Kylie Minogue - Love At First Sight 4.914 [X-30-43-141-182-75-143] 142 [173] Crystal Castles feat. Kelly Rowland's 'Stole' continues its consistently average run, dropping 25 places to a new low of #145 but still sealing a seventh consecutive finish in the 101-150 section. Shakira is also in decline with 'Underneath Your Clothes', a top 20 finisher once upon a time but now down to #144 after scraping into last year's top 100. The first song of the section I could give a poor rendition of is also in fast decline, Kylie Minogue's 'Love At First Sight' dropping 68 places to #143. THANK GOD for Crystal Castles though, keeping some quality in an otherwise crap section. 'Not In Love', featuring the vocal talents of Robert Smith from The Cure (pictured), isn't their best nor is it Robert Smith's best but it's still a great song if a little overrated by the indie contingent. It moves up 31 places to a new peak of #142. Santigold is the only new entry in the section, her 'L.E.S. Artistes' making its top 200 debut at #141 after three years of being ignored. August 15, 201212 yr Behind These Hazel Eyes criminally low. Criminally isn't even the word actually, below one of Kylie's weaker singles as well?! Massive fall for Untouchable too :(

Elbow finally enter with their 6 1/2 minute epic 'One Day Like This', on the week it looks set to reach a massive new peak and sent its parent album into the top 10 for the first time since they won a BRIT award in February 2009. Kate Nash has a small fall with 'Foundations' (a song I'm surprised has never peaked higher than #125) and Nelly & Kelly will at least depart on a high after a 30 place climb.
August 15, 201212 yr 135 - NE (207) Justin Timberlake - ‘Cry Me A River’ 5.059 (181 - 107 - 53 - 162 - 146 - X - 135) 134 - 175 Christina Aguilera - ‘Beautiful’ 5.059 (7 - 4 - 10 - 34 - 18 - 175 - 134) 133 - 73 MGMT - ‘Time To Pretend 5.068 (X - 160 - 73 - 133) 132 - NE Emeli Sande - ‘Heaven’ 5.071 (132) 131 - NE Adele - ‘Set Fire To The Rain’ 5.071 (131) http://static.taletela.com/gallery/2599799_130812ceremony2.jpg A former huge Buzzjack fave in this group. Christina Aguilera’s Beautiful was top 10 for the first 3 incarnations of this game, yet has suffered an alarming fall in popularity since, bouncing back after a stark all time low outside the final last year - words won’t bring you down Christina, ROTD voters will. Justin Timberlake’s best known song reenters after slipping outside for the first time last year, and MGMT’s Time To Pretend is on the downward movement as it becomes the less popular MGMT song this year. The other two songs are very similar, both by female singers named Adele, both lovely midtempos, and both are the respective artist’s best; for me that is. I expect at least Set Fire To The Rain to continue to do well in future editions.
August 15, 201212 yr 'Untouchable' is so overrated on here it's ridiculous. But then Girls Aloud as a whole are I guess. 'Behind These Hazel Eyes' deserves much higher, Kelly's best single imo! Good to see 'Heaven', 'Dilemma' and 'Stole' up here though. Oh and Adele can just f*** off as far as I'm concerned, at least for a good couple of years anyway. I can't even listen to '21' anymore.
August 16, 201212 yr Set Fire To The Rain pretty low :o It's held up better than RITD and SLY in the insanely overplayed stakes for me, and I thought it was generally regarded as better as those, but hey ho. I also love Heaven and was pleasantly surprised to see it higher than I expected
