Posted September 16, 201212 yr Now here's an interesting piece of info!! T-Rex are hardly talked about these days. "Marc Bolan remembered: OfficialCharts.com reveal T Rex’s Top 10 Most Downloaded Tracks 16/09/2012 By Dan Lane 35 years ago today (Sunday, September 16) T Rex frontman Marc Bolan tragically lost his life in a car accident. He was 29 years old. Over the course of his all too short career, Bolan enjoyed a great deal of chart success both with T Rex (nee Tyrannosaurus Rex) and as a solo artist. He also collaborated with the likes of Electric Light Orchestra, Ike and Tina Turner, Ringo Starr and David Bowie to name but a few. To commemorate the anniversary of his death, the Official Charts Company have compiled a list of T Rex’s Top 10 most downloaded tracks in the UK, along with an accompanying Spotify and Deezer playlist. “With four Number 1 singles and 11 Top 10s to his name, Marc Bolan was (and remains) one of the true legends of British music and the Official Singles Chart,” comments the Official Charts Company’s managing director, Martin Talbot. “We will all have our favourite Bolan, Tyrannosaurus Rex or T Rex tracks, but it is apt that we mark the 35th anniversary since his untimely death today by outlining the songs which have become his most popular tracks in the download age – with the British public choosing 1971’s Get It On as their Number 1.” The Official Top 10 most downloaded T Rex tracks are as follows: 01 GET IT ON 1971 02 I LOVE TO BOOGIE 1976 03 CHILDREN OF THE REVOLUTION 1972 04 RIDE A WHITE SWAN 1970 05 20TH CENTURY BOY 1973 06 HOT LOVE 1971 07 METAL GURU 1972 08 JEEPSTER 1971 09 TELEGRAM SAM 1972 10 COSMIC DANCER 1971 © 2012 The Official Charts Company. September 16, 201212 yr Interesting. I do like the top 3 so it's great to see them there, especially I Love 2 Boogie.

September 16, 201212 yr All fairly unsurprising with use in adverts or just being massively famous with the exception of Cosmic Dancer which I didn't think well known
September 16, 201212 yr All fairly unsurprising with use in adverts or just being massively famous with the exception of Cosmic Dancer which I didn't think well known I think that the Billy Elliott film is responsible for quite a few T Rex downloads. Its soundtrack and related album includes: Cosmic Dancer, Get It On, I Love To Boogie, Children Of The Revolution and Ride A White Swan.
September 16, 201212 yr I think that the Billy Elliott film is responsible for quite a few T Rex downloads. That's what I thought, especially with all the Billy Elliot musicals (I very much doubt they are all singing and dancing to T Rex tracks  but it could make people watch the film again, hear the tracks, and download them). September 17, 201212 yr I Love T.Rex, one of my all time Fav groups, I was at the 35 year anniversary gig at the week, For me Hot Love is possibly the greatest pop song ever, I think it's the only one in the list not covered by another artist or used in a Advert, Edited September 17, 201212 yr by danny boy

Billy Elliot & adverts clearly influence sales. I Love To Boogie wasnt regarded as classic Bolan in the 70's, just good Bolan, Cosmic Dancer was unknown outside of fans. Big hits like Solid Gold Easy Action (one of their best!) and The Groover (great one) or even the ballads (Teenage Dream & Life's A Gas) not featuring at all...
September 20, 201212 yr The guitar riff that opens "Get it On" and runs through the track is one of the most instantly recognisable, and uplifting pieces of rock music in the history of pop!
September 20, 201212 yr I agree with Vidcapper, without sales the info is simply interesting! Same here. Sales would put it in context. For all we know they could all be selling in trivial amounts, with 'Get it on' just happening to be the highest. Edited September 20, 201212 yr by Col1967
