Maybe they thought the fans overgrown their pop sound and needed to do something more mature?

Flashbacks to me in 2012 playing Girls Aloud - Something New loudly on repeat and strutting down my hall way  I just needed bops, Steps  Thank God they've understood the assignment since 2017!

Track 5 was fine, forgettable...

Light Up the World (the song) isn't too bad, but something about it doesn't stick with me. I always remember the chorus, but if you ever asked me to tell you the lyrics of the verses, I wouldn't be able to!

I know you did that as well!

So:

-Why did they do this albums? To create a more mature sound?

-My least favorite Steps album by far.

-It’s missing the Steps sound and the production is mostly dated and their input to the songs seem uninspired.

-I do enjoy the growth/the sharing of the vocals and the cover of this album!

Thank you Jay and Globalfunq for joining!

Wishing you both (and all our Steps forum posters) a wonderful festive season!

It is just lacking that “ooomph” that makes a Steps album a Steps album!

Absolutely! If they would do campy upbeat versions of Christmas songs then maybe this album could’ve worked for me.

When She Loved Me... indeed, very musical vibes with their vocals on this. It's a beautiful song, but Christmas?? This album has a severe identity crisis

Oh Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) actually giving us Christmas, finally  Only took us 8 tracks to get there!

Don’t get too excited, it doesn’t last!

Someone has to.

EXCUSE ME, are you shading Mariah's version!!!!!!!!!!!! :arrr:

Yes I'll be keeping the CD but now I have extra reason to resent its presence amongst their other albums x

I just use Darlene Love’s version!

Too bad ;) it’s the only thing missing in my Steps collection. Don’t enjoy the album but I do want to complete my collection!

That’s your secret Santa present in next year’s Buzzjack Secret Santa!

Hold on, do they do that?

I'm not sure if I've ever heard her original to be fair *Gasp*

I've forgotten Track 9 already, and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas isn't really a fave of mine no matter who sings it, although they do sound lovely on it.

This album has quite a depressing vibe to it overall, and it's distinctly un-Christmassy for the majority it. Eeek! A bit of a fail overall... I think I'll only take "It May Be Winter Outside" and run!

I will hold you to that

And totally agree Jay!
