what is a music week playlist?

it's a playlist that appears in Music Week! usually, it's a selection of forthcoming new releases that they are listening to this week. Us subscribers to MW not only get the list but also a link to each song to either hear or watch it...

here we go, ohad

Paolo Nutini: Jenny Don't Be Hasty

Second single from Nutini's certified gold debut, this is a decidedly stronger song than it's predecessor. Upbeat, infectious rhythm and a strong melody.

Contact: Emma Elwood, Atlantic

(Single, September 25 - Atlantic)

Mika: Relax

Championed by Popbitch, Mika's falsetto vocal will draw comparisons to Scissor Sisters, but he has much more to offer.

Contact: William Rice, Purple PR

(7" single, Sept 18 - Casablanca)

Kristeen Young: Kill The Father

Handpicked by Morrissey to support the man himself in London, Young sings like a woman possessed. Her first single is released on Morrissey's Attack imprint. .

Contact: Eddie Leviten, Sanctuary

(single, August 21 - Sanctuary)

Lazy B: Underwear Goes Inside The Pants

After an initially slow start this song has been rapidly gaining momentum over recent weeks and with Radio One support looks likely to deliver a late summer smash. From the man behind Aqua.

Contact: Paul Carey, PCPR

(single, August 21 - Universal TV)

Lucy: Jealousy

With vocals from the voice behind Starlight, this funked up dance-pop song has a strong foundation at TV and has now been added to both Radio One and Radio Two.

Contact: Lee Haynes, Velocity PR

(single, Sept 4 - Purple City)

Jet: Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is

The falsetto is in. First Muse, now Jet find their inner Barry Gibb. The Aussie group take their sound forward with the first taste of their sophomore album.

Contact: Gillian Porter, Hall Or Nothing

(single, October 2 - Atlantic)

Sleepy Brown feat. Pharell and Big Boi: Margarita

Star power aside, this is a cool urban pop song that will likely build at TV and specialist before ramping up rotation at commercial radio.

Contact: Paul Guimaraes, Virgin

(single, October -2 - Virgin)

Tony Matterhorn vs. Fish Go Deep: Funky Wine

Two of the biggest club/pirate radio tracks have been combined makes for one monster of a club hit. Set to stick around well into next year.

(white label)

Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly: The Chronicles Of A Bohemian Teenager

He's an earnest lad is Get Cape. He also has a way with lyrics and melody, which is what makes this track such a standout.

Contact: Jon Wilkinson, Darling Dept

(single, September 18 - Atlantic)

Trivium: Anthem (We Are The Fire)

First single from Trivium's new album looks set to solidify a foundation as one of metals greatest new hopes. Impassioned, riff charged rock.

Contact: Kirsten Lane, Roadrunner

(single, October 2 - Roadrunner)

Music week's single and album of the week...

Single:

Justin Timberlake - Sexyback

On first listen, Justin Timberlake's comeback single may make the listener think the US star is trying to be a bit clever. Two listens and they are rememberingkey lines. By the third spin, the underlying melodic current and pristine Timberland production job of Sexyback are impossible to shake. Already playlisted virtually everywhere and currently topping the download chart, it looks bound for the number one spot.

Album:

Kasabian - Empire

(sorry, but it took me long enough to type the JT review - I can only type with two fingers, and it takes me forever!, you'll just have to accept Music Week like this album..)
