'What Makes You Beautiful' was a single, so all the pre-orders got dumped in the iTunes Singles chart, hence the rapid climb to #1.

This time it's an EP, so the pre-orders got dumped in the iTumes Albums chart, so the climb up the iTunes Singles chart will be slower, but combined with the EP sales, it may have actually sold more.

66. Live While We're Young - One Direction

90. Swimming Pools (Drank) - Kendrick Lamar

100. Diamonds - Rihanna

230. Anything Could Happen - Ellie Goulding

One Direction up to 66 & Rihanna up to 100. Hopefully will both be Top 10 within the next few hours (Wishful thinking maybe)
Not really theyll be top 10 before noon, 1D has probably sold more preorders than their first release lasy year - that always happens with the second album!!
Swimming Pools (Drank) for #1!!!

:cheer:

I'm sooooo happy it's in the top 100. It must be the Radio 1 airplay. I really never thought this would happen tbh. It'll probably have dropped a lot by the end of the week though. September has been good, with Avalon, Deepest Shame, Good Intentions, Clique and Live It Up doing very well in the charts too.

64. Live While We're Young - One Direction

82. Diamonds - Rihanna

91. Swimming Pools (Drank) - Kendrick Lamar

200. Anything Could Happen - Ellie Goulding

58. One Direction 'Live While We're Young'

73. Rihanna 'Diamonds'

91. Kendrick Lemar 'Swimming Pools (Drank)'

168. Ellie Goulding 'Anything Could Happen'

I'd love for an all new Top 3. With either One Direction or Rihanna at the top. Ellie's new song is good, but not my favourite of hers :)

She'd do well the match 'Your Song'

At least she has a far better chance of her album going to #1 - not to mention holding up better on week 2 than her debut one (which incidentally I estimate has now sold 675-680k by now). :)

I think the record is a top 7 of new entries.

I'm sure ChartsPlus did something on this a long time ago - IIRC the record is 8 in the T10, but only once has the top 6 been entirely new.

Didn't they have to delete Crazy because it was at number 1 for too long?

I don't think 'had to' is quite the right way to put it. :)

Because of the chart rules existing in 2006, a record had to have a physical format available in order for its download sales to be chart-eligible - so deleting the physcal format became a standard way of removing a record from the charts which a record company thought had overstayed its welcome. Chasing Cars CDS was also deleted, but just like Crazy it bounced straight back as soon as the rules changed, and has never gone away since. :P

49. One direction

73. Rihanna

She's 68 since 3 hours ago, so I guess you are wrong.

I thought 1D would get #1 by now.

How many hours has it been out?

more than 8?

21 - 1D

34 - Rihanna

She's doing amazing for a 3 days old single... if not them she was number 1 for sure.

21. One Direction - Live While We're Young

34. Rihanna - Diamonds

75. Ellie Goulding - Anything Could Happen

85. Kendrick Lamar - Swimming Pool (Drunk)

133. Walk The Moon - Anna Sun

I thought 1D would get #1 by now.

How many hours has it been out?

more than 8?

As explained before, the EP is where all pre-orders went and that's in the album chart, hence why there's a slower climb up the singles chart.

10. Live While We're Young :cheer:

50. Anything Could Happen

:o

So at 10:03am, 'Live While We're Young' is at no. 8 on iTunes. I wonder if this track might actually end up selling less than 'WMYB' (first week sales) even with the EP and physical sales. After all the hype and supposed "massive" pre-order sales it'd be quite funny if 'Call My Name' was to still hold the title of fastest selling single of 2012 for another week.
