October 4, 201212 yr Voted Top 5 as I reckon Rihanna 'Diamonds' and Adele 'Skyfall' could be at their peak once radio/TV airplay has built up for those two songs. JLS might end up going the same way as One Direction have this week.
October 4, 201212 yr I've only heard this once and thought it was pretty ropey - didn't know it was JLS until the DJ said at the end. Not really hearing a huge diff tbh sounded a bit desperate to me (thought it was The Wanted and they had went downhill!) but i've actually quite liked a lot of their previous stuff conversely. Interesting other people on BJ have quite a positive view on it though so like VC factoring that in to how i think it'll do (which is not the same as seeing what people want it to get to). I think top 3, no2 maybe most likely. I think their more recent leads have started with a big head of steam and tailed off significantly as the week has went on. This is not a quiet release period, sales have gone up again since they were last out and their appeal is dimishing so i doubt that first day fanbase push will be huge enough for them to get away with that and hit no1 this time.
October 4, 201212 yr We're not voting based on how much we like the song though. We're voting based on where they think the song will chart. For example, I love the song, and I want it to go to #1, but I know it won't. So I voted top 5. I see your point - but unfortunately I *can't* judge where such songs will chart myself, so I can only assess where they're likely to chart based on others reaction to them.

Why can't you judge "such songs"? because someone will criticize you if you say it wont chart high? who cares what those people think it's your opinion and your entitled to it.
October 5, 201212 yr I'm gonna say top 3, maybe #1 if it's VERY lucky but they don't have anywhere near the power anymore to be guaranteed a #1. Either way, this will drop down faster than Paris Hilton's knickers. Edited October 5, 201212 yr by Silver Rocket

October 5, 201212 yr If 1D can't even get #1 after such a highly anticipated release, JLS won't be getting anywhere NEAR there...
October 5, 201212 yr I reckon if it makes the top 10 it'll be only just, but I'm gonna predict #11. I've not heard it on the radio yet and only ChartShowTV seem to be playing the video.
October 5, 201212 yr If 1D can't even get #1 after such a highly anticipated release, JLS won't be getting anywhere NEAR there... Irrelevant. 1D and JLS have a lot of different variables. Live While We're Young had a very short build up and went up against a massive seller. JLS will have a proper heldback release and could get an easy week (depending on the release schedule). There's also no proof of Live While We're Young being anticipated by anyone outside their core fanbase so yes, that comparison is pointless. Edited October 5, 201212 yr by Umi

However, almost everyone here at least was predicting 1D to go straight to #1 with a massive lead, and even with their loony fanbase, they couldn't manage it. JLS are fading more and more with each album, I can see them going top ten easily but after Proud only got to #6 despite being a brand new song and a charity single, I'd say top three is unlikely. I'd love to be proved wrong as I am a JLS fan but I just can't see it.
October 5, 201212 yr What do the predictions of a few chart obsessives matter? If anything the fact that we ridiculously overpredicted it is evidence that there was far less hype than we imagined. JLS are fading, yes, but unlike Proud, this is a) an actual comeback and b) actually getting great airplay. Plus they have X Factor this time etc etc. I mean, I don't personally see it getting #1 but to say it won't get near that merely because One Direction underperformed is really silly. October 7, 201212 yr I don't think any comparison is silly or pointless, we model on things we see as similar when there are common factors to attempt to improve the accuracy of predictions - it's called hypothetico-deductive reasoning! Obviously there are a lot of independent variables between the two but i'd be hard pressed to think of a more comparable act to JLS than 1D, particularly who are currently active. Although anyone who thinks JLS are obviously doomed without a doubt just due to 1Ds performance would be foolish IMHO. I still think top3/5, but no1 less likely for sure :)
October 8, 201212 yr Have never been a JLS fan but i LOVE this track and it seems to be getting played quite a bit on radio and TV - Think this will easily go Top 3, Would have been another #1 for them but their fanbase have grown up and its a much more crowded market for 'boybands' now than when JLS first got together will the arrival of One Direction, The Wanted, and Lawson all vying for their share of the teens iTunes credit!
