Opting not to go for the title of Volume 7, Radio 1 are to release their 8th Live Lounge compilation album (including The Best Of, released last year)! It's always one of my favourite compilations to listen to, and this year should be no different. There are 3 fewer tracks included this year, which is a shame:

I've not heard many of those, but I loved Ben Howard's "Call Me Maybe", Usher's "Pumped Up Kicks", The Vaccines' "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" and Florence + the Machine's "Take Care"! It's a shame that there are so many 1xtra performances, as well as not including Benjamin Leftwich-Franklin's superior cover of "Titanium" in place of Tulisa's due to his name not being as big as her's OR any of Katy Perry's set! :( I'm interested to hear Stooshe's cover the most (obviously it'll be online, but I can wait :P)!

I would've liked to have seen Marina and the Diamonds cover of Boyfriend on there and Lana del Rey's cover of Goodbye Kiss.

Marina's cover of 'Boyfriend' is my favourite live lounge cover that I've heard this year! Why isn't that included? I thought R1 like her? :(

Love the inclusion of JLS' "Earthquake" and Olly Murs doing "Without You" - two of my favourite Live Lounges from last year!

Looks good, heard Conor Maynard's cover of Starships the other day and it's decent, as good as Carolynne Poole's country version! Seems to be a pop song that works in all sorts of different arrangements.

What a surprise.

I too was a bit disappointed they'd left Marina's 'Boyfriend' off the tracklisting. Will be nice to get official versions of Ben Howard's 'Call Me Maybe' and Florence's 'Take Care though. Saying that, I had no idea about half of these - Plan B covering Cheryl, Labrinth covering Chris Brown and Scouting for Girls covering Little Mix?!

Having lived with this album for a week, my three favourite tracks on it are:

3. Usher - Pumped Up Kicks

 

The violins in Without You are fantastic, Starships sounds oddly great as a ballad and Usher really suits the latter somehow!
