'Skyfall' is sublime. Such a fantastic track from Adele, I did think the hype would lead to some anti climax but this track has just worked amazingly. I still think Adele has a good chance at no. 1 in a week or two from now (wishful thinking :P ).

After 'Greyhound', I didn't think SHM would end up bettering that track. Oddly, I actually find this track a bit emotional despite it being a dance track - the lyrics have a deeper meaning for me that makes me appreciate this song more.

:lol: This is why I avoid listening to radio stations so much. At the moment, I think 'Skyfall' is such a wonderful track, really love everything about this song now. Even the "we will stand tall" vocals in the chorus don't irritate me anymore. :D 100% wub!!!

Yeah, it's not quite up to the standard of 'Lonely Boy' and 'Gold On The Ceiling' which are without doubt two of the best rock anthems I've heard this year. Shame that singles wise, they've never caught on but the album seems to have fared better in recent months.

01 (--) Adele - Skyfall (01) [1 wk] A sublime Bond theme but not sure if it's as good as Someone Like You or Rolling In The Deep for me!

 

I guess only time will tell if this becomes a modern day classic, or a forgotton gem. I'm fully on board with 'Skyfall' and do hope it manages to sneak a week at #1 in the next couple of weeks. I will agree that it's got a long way to go before it can be regarded as classic alongside 'Rolling In The Deep' and 'Someone Like You'. I'd say this is currently alongside 'Set Fire To The Rain' for me.

 

03 (--) Swedish House Mafia feat. John Martin - Don't You Worry Child (03) [1 wk] Thought this might be a #1 for you but the power of Adele and Gangnam Style has prevented it, this is such an almighty dance anthem, that synth riff is incredible!

 

It's the strongest top 3 in a while and oddly it's the UK top 3 just in a different order. This hasn't happened in a long while. :o I agree though, this is an almighty choon and it's another of the excellent chart toppers we've had this year.

 

04 (02) Rihanna - Diamonds (02-04) [2 wks] Seems to be falling in most personal charts already, it's very good indeed but no match at all for the mighty We Found Love

 

Actually, make that UK top 4 in a different order. :lol: Yeah, I really like 'Diamonds' but 'Only Girl (In The World)' and especially 'We Found Love' had a much bigger impact on me. I also saw the video to 'Diamonds' this morning and was disappointed - I expected more than just clips of Rihanna on tour, and hanging out with different celebrities - they did that with the 'Cheers (Drink To That)' video too.

 

06 (--) Leona Lewis feat. Childish Gambino - Trouble (06) [1 wk] Not my favourite single of hers but I really like the album!

 

I guess I'll always have a soft spot for Leona. She's the first proper X Factor winner but I agree it seems like she's struggling to get the big hits like she had for her debut album 'Spirit'. Then again, this is a vast improvement of 'Collide' which I still think is Leona's worst (least appealing) single to date.

Who'd have thought, eh? :D I also think it proves that with enough radio support, it really can help sell your songs. Whilst I was on holiday three weeks ago, we tended to have Capital FM on a lot, and this was getting played back then nearly every hour. I do prefer this to 'Payphone' though so typically their UK #1 is the song I like the least.

It could do as I think this has become Guy Sebastian's most successful single in Oz since he debut single. I actually quite like this too and gave Liam my 7 points for this - it got less points from me in the semi final but it continued growing.

This has happened with several Kylie songs over the years. I like them a lot at first but then with more listens I realise I don't think they're as good as I initially thought. 'Timebomb' held up rather well in comparison but again it's not classic Kylie for me.

It really is a stunning track from Adele. From what I've read on the BBC News website (I think it was), the film Skyfall has already received high praise and strong reviews. Skyfall could well be the highest grossing film of 2012.
