The true crime of late 2010 was The Flood not getting to the top spot (Take That as opposed to Cheryl Cole, although Katie Melua's would have been a welcome #1 too!)

Gooddelta the voice of reason again! Katie's "The Flood" was great (though the rest of her stuff is clearly on satan's own radio) :o

Katie's was the best of the three imo. It was one of those songs where you hear it just once and you remember it easily (at least for me).

I can't understand how Take That missed #1, Robbie was back, it was a brilliant anthemic radio track, how on earth did it miss? At least the 48 X Factor performances of the track kept it nicely propped up for a while

Whip My Hair & The Time (Dirty Bit) remains the worst top 2 ever. Your Song made the top 3 bearable, but even that was rather average :(

Strangely, I'm listening to The Flood right now for the first time since 2010 :o its such a strongly composed and beautifully written song, how did this flop exactly?

It was on the radio soooooo much aswell. Back then, the radio overplay of some songs was actually driving me mad, especially The Flood, Forget You and Just the Way You Are. I was on the verge of having a mental breakdown. I know this is such an over-reaction, but it was really just sooo OTT the obsession radio stations had with those songs.

But personally, I felt The Flood wasn't that good. Take That have a lot of really epic and dramatic songs, but I didn't think The Flood matched up to Shine or Rule the World.

I count both Rule The World and Shine amongst my all time top 20 favourite songs ever but The Flood honestly isn't far behind, I thought it was fantastic!

It probably just reflected that Take That weren't the massive chart force they once were any more, or that they'd transcended to more of an 'album act' looking at what the album went on to do. That said, I certainly didn't expect Robbie to get a number 1 with a six figure opening

Also, I'm rather surprised Labrinth is STILL top 2 and may be number 1 again next week, it doesn't even have a video, does it?

Maybe most of Take That's fanbase were waiting for the album and tour (which were more than successful enough ).

The Flood was blocked from #1 by Only Girl in its 3rd week (which now reminds me of the Rihanna vs. Cheryl chart battle ) and JLS Love You More (another song which I hated with a passion and was way too overplayed for my liking).

I remember some people thinking Shame would be a #1 aswell.

The most notable thing about late 2010 really, was probably Adele getting back in the charts. I remember it being a huge debate for ages, but I still wonder now, how successful Adele would've been if it wasn't for Make You Feel My Love's revival. I guess we'll never really know.

PSY is performing Gangnam Style on Jonathan Ross next week, so expect him to get a boost then!

Yeah it does. Been out a few weeks.

Shame seemed so immediately limp as soon as I first heard The Flood, the only other song on Progress that grabbed my way in the same way as their other recent classics was Eight Letters. I appreciate the risk they took with the electro sound but I hope it doesn't continue onto the next album, much of Progressed (which was even more electro/experimental than Progress) was just bizarre.

Your Body has already been released, is that the same for the other new releases? Maybe iTunes have forgot about the clock change last weekend! :o

EDIT: Indeed, Misha B has already released too - and at 59p as well!

Isn't this the 'Beneath Your Beautiful' Video? It has been

on YouTube since 5th October, & it has over 3 Million views.

The new releases came out an hour early last week as well. I wonder what the OCC do with the early hour of sales, I'm pretty sure at least the EP pre-order sales still go to the proper week but any 'cherrypicks' between 23:00 and 23:59 may be a different story...
