Blink 182 reveal truth behind split

Bassist finally discusses the bitter end

Former Blink 182 member Mark Hoppus has revealed the reasons behind his band's split.

The band went on "indefinite hiatus" last year after 11 years together.

The bassist said that the group parted ways because of guitarist Tom Delonge's indecision on whether he wanted to tour or not.

Hoppus, who is now in Plus 44 with Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker, told a fansite:

"Tom started saying he din't want to tour, that he was burned out and wanted to stay home. He wanted to cancel the tour."

"We understood that Tom wanted to be with his family. We all did. We all love our families and want to be with them. At the same time, this is our job," he explained.

He added he was upset by the decision not to carrying on playing.

"We are so lucky to get to do what we do the way we do," said Hoppus "We love our work and want to be out there doing it, and it was being taken away from us. We had no say in it. Blink 182 has been a democracy since day one, and toward the end there it wasn't. it was all about one person. It felt ugly. It really did.

"Tom was deciding when we would tour, how we would tour, when we would have time off, when we would record, and how we could record. One person was dictating everything...Tom didn't even call to quit the band. He had his manager do it for him."

Check their for the full interviews with Mark...

Oh and for my own personal opinion, I still don't think this is the full story.. IMO Mark and Tom are both being assholes chatting $h!t about eachother.

I love Blink but would they ever be good again, I dobut it they went downhill with their "depressing cd's" I mean they never stuck to their roots after some time. I mean they kicked ass with Josie lyrics Alien lyrics and so on you know fun high spirited songs but then they went to "Miss You" and so on.

They made a rod for their own back really with their pretty damn awful, whiny, Pop Punk that when they actually did attempt to do something with a bit more depth no one took it seriously, not the real Punk fans, not the little Emo kids who were starting to listen to MCR, etc, and they ended up alienating a lot of their original fanbase as well...

Green Day made a change and actually made it work, actually making a few of us who had previously disliked them sit up and take notice with a quite damn good album which actually had an idea running through it; Blink tried to change and it just didn't work....

Oh well, no great loss really...

my opinion..

Sorry mate, but it's such a blatantly ridiculous claim to make. If you'd said the 'Best American Pop Punk band' ever, then it might not have provoked as much mirth (it'd still be incredibly debateable though....).

I love Blink and I was really gutted when they split up, although this new information has put a whole new light on Mr. Tom Delonge <_<

but i have heard some plus 44 songs and they sound awesome!
