This is got to be one the biggest flops in recent memory for me. An official single, with a video and multiple TV performances, sitting outside the top 500 is just appalling. There's no way to dress it up, it's awful. I'd be particularly interested to hear Leona's reaction to what will likely be a bloody awful chart position next Sunday.

I just can't even begin to imagine the thought process behind this complete disaster of a campaign. Changing their mind a few weeks before the single was due out was bad enough, but choosing a song as limp as this is mind boggling. I like Lovebird, it's a pretty song, but it was never ever going to be a successful single for anyone, let alone someone who desperately needs a career saving single at the moment.

Oh dear.

I think this is how we are all feeling. I want to know WHY this was decided. I haven't met anyone who thought this should be the second single, so how did they come to this bizarre situation????

The most important part, airplay, is non-existent though. So it's hardly suprising why this is doing so terrible. Also, the video was only released 4 days ago I think? and it's started climbing, so hopefully the video will continue increasing in play over the next couple of weeks and push the song further.

It's really hard to care when the artist herself shows no interest. She promotes ANIMALS more than her music, you're in the wrong profession Leona. Wasted talent :(, it's ashame it's come to this really.

Last time I checked (about 5 minutes ago) it was #598 on iTunes.

Like so many on here, I'm furious about this! What a disaster. If the newspapers pick up on this and run with it (e.g. "Is Leona's career over?") then it will make it even worse.

I wish the labels read forums like this. People on here have told them what to do and what the fans want. I would LOVE to know who decided on Lovebird as the next single - whoever it was should be sacked.

To lighten the mood a bit, "Lovebird" has gone to #20 on South Korean international charts so far. It looks like it might be a hit there! :)

Lovebird is now #638. Why is it not 59p?

Where was it on TV and radio chart for UK yesterday? (Expecting low for both - hoping for a massive climb for TV by next sunday though)

The label don't care anymore it seems. reducing it to 59p could have really helped it out I think.

It's currently #173 in TV play with 57 plays and #670 in radio airplay with 347 plays and 2.03m audience.

Also, "lovebird" is #20 in the Hong Kong international airplay chart.

The video has also got over 315,000 views after being made available on a Chinese website:

It seems to be doing rather well in Asia considering it hasn't been promoted there yet :)

A single missing the top 500 is a complete disaster. I would have thought Leona had enough fans to ensure a top 100 hit. This single doing so badly is indeed worrying but this whole Glassheart era has echoed that for a long time now. I can see Leona moving on now from this album but it is crucial she gets her next album right. Her strength is power house ballads and they need one of those very soon or she is finished.

This song is a lot more radio friendly than "Fireflies", so I'm not surprised at the change. The lack of promo is embarrassing though.

What lack of promo? Her promotion was fine in terms of TV, she maybe should have done another radio tour though, as its airplay really let it down. :(

Is there any point in asking where Lovebird is in the UK? :coffee:

Not even a top 500 smash.

Currently #24 on itunes Spain.

Dunno- I'd be surprised it made the top 200 so we'll prob never know.
I wonder will this be the end of glassheart or will they make one last attempt to turn it around. You know i remember someone posting a comment one time in general about a held back release rarely works and it definitely applies here, i wonder if the original release had gone ahead last yea would the outcome have been any different?

I think they will release, or at least test a 3rd single early next year. Also Leona is/will be focusing on Europe for a little bit now. She's already had a couple performances in Europe and its really helped her out so far. She has more promotion coming in January and she also added German dates to her tour (She does quite well in Germany!). Things look like they will go well from a total sales point of view. I'm so glad she's had success outside the UK, so she doesn't have to rely soley on the UK.

I'm guessing a US push is out of the question now, unless this turns around. They must have lost a fair amount of ££ with this campaign. It really frustrates me how badly she is handled, she could be huge!
