I'm really not buying free speech as an argument when the "candidate" in question is racist, sexist, god knows what else, and wants to strip minorities of rights. At the end of the day we are a forum that's largely gay so you're barking up the wrong tree if you expect us to roll over and accept what is going to be a dark time for so many of our peers across the pond, whether they are LGBT, a person of colour, Latin, transgender or even just a woman... I cannot believe so many women voted for Trump, he really tapped into the racist undertones of American society so that they were willing to overlook the fact that he has a trial for rape and objectifies women, because immigrants are stealing the jobs they can't get because they dropped out of school at 16.

Erm, I am not badly educated. I got 8 O-Levels, 2 A levels later at night school, C&G computer programming and HNC business studies. So don't insult my intelligence.

Your every post on this forum insults your own so called intelligence.

I believe only Bernie had a chance to win against Trump.

Surrisingly strong candidate. NOTHING sunk his campaign and he is just terrible. 45% women votes or something? :/

I think Biden would have beaten him. Not sure about Sanders.

Thank you for saying it much better than I did. I'm too angry right now.

Just makes the debate very one sided if your lambasted for wanting something different than the majority on here?

When did Trump say he was against LGBS?

I seem to remember he was devastated by what happened in Orlando? As everyone here was

I wouldn't mistake this win for Trump necessarily being a "strong" candidate. He did what every politician does, he found what he believed to be a winning strategy and ran with it. He was right. Bernie would probably have done a little better in some demographics, but I'm still very much of thr belief that his ideas would have been too radical and he would have struggled just as much, of not more.

Ella Henderson would not be for Trump.

I don't think that Hillary was a weak choice, she simply didn't win because she was a woman. Sorry, but I know it sounds "banded about", but she was highly educated and qualified for the role of president. Had she been a man with the same CV, she would have won.

He wants to appoint ultra conservative Supreme Court justices, that alone means whether implicit or not he is going to infringe upon LGBT rights.

He skirted around the fact it was a hate crime totally.

Here's a pic of Hillary visiting the Pulse site in Orlando:

I don't understand what that all means, can you explain?

Well he's particularly against the T part of that acronym which you butchered there... He supported North Carolina's anti-trans law, claims that supporting trans rights is "too expensive". He only seems to support Caitlyn Jenner because she has stupidly supported him and probably pumped money into his campaign. He is also against gay marriage and he chose a Vice President who wants to fund conversion therapy...

To be fair as far as Republicans go he's not the absolute worst for the LGBT community (not that that means it's good for us...) but that's largely because compared to other issues he won't shut up about he hasn't said *that* much, what he has said or shown support to doesn't really paint him in the best light. Even the likes of Mike Pence and Ted Cruz, who are notorious LGBT opponents and homphobes, were shaken by Orlando because at the end of it all fellow Americans were shot and it was the single biggest mass shooting by one person ever, being upset that 50 people died does not equate to being there for the LGBT community. Supporting gay marriage and allowing fellow humans the same rights is what actually supports us.

CBS News estimates that the Florida turnout was the highest ever in US election history which it's said helped Trump take the state.

Sorry for the error I always read it as GayLesbianBiSexual

I am gay myself and a lot of those things I didn't know, but surely he has to get past a lot of people to ban things like gay marriage etc and I can't see that happening or that he will try to, well I hope so anyway

Whether he would manage to pass it or not is irreverent though, the fact he'd not want to protect LGBT lives is enough to know he's not fit to be president.

He won't ban gay marriage and won't build the wall or withdraw the US from Nato. A lot of things he's said were bravado and despite his faults he's not stupid, can't be or he wouldn't run successful businesses.

When it comes time to appoint a new Justice to the Supreme Court he will choose justices who are anti-abortion, which means they will be more ideologically opposed to such things as same sex marriage and equality for LGBT Americans. Whether they roll back what already exists is another matter, but it's doubtful there will be any improvement once the court is tipped even more conservative than it already is.

"successful businesses" lol

cough*filed for bankruptcy six times*cough

if Donald wanted to ban gay marriage or abortion he could too as the House has a Republican majority, scary.
Trump proved time and time again that he was a buffoon during his campaign. He even pleaded people to "GO OUT AND VOTE ON NOVEMBER 18TH" during one of his speeches. I am never going to support a republican candidate, but there's just no way to defend Trump on any level, he simply is not qualified or educated enough for the job, he's a joke. A reality TV villain. America just didn't didn't have faith in a female president. Any slight misstep from Hillary was studied under a magnifying glass, while Trump gets off free for the most baffling and ridiculous of things.
